May was the best character because she is one of the only charactesr that showed CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. In the beginning she was really ignorant about pokemon, but by the end of the series she was a wonderful coordinator! She progressed at a reasonable pace- whereas Dawn lost like all of her contests in the beginning, but then BEAT May, who is a more experienced coordinator, and she was runner up of her 1st grand fest...which in reality would NEVER happen.
