I can confirm that the trick works 100%!

I found it on a fluke and yes, you can UT scythe to finish the enemy faster (than bow and arrow), the "scythe shockwave" does go through the door!

It also works with the Scythe's UT.You can even make it easier,as soon as u open up the door,run away to the talon's room and then go back to gate,all the ninjas should be stuck behind the gate giving u the opportunity to UT all of them with the Scythe and get about 15000 essence.

If you use bow you can get 11000 per kill.
