Dunno which is better. They are different. Dirt 2 is a better game in my opinion, dirt 3 is a bit too.... Modern. And to simple. I mean the menu and thing. And these colours... Not rally colours... Teal and purple...bah...
dirt 3 is waaay to futuristic rally is about easy and simple thats what dirt 2 is about they even changed the tachometer from dirt 3 to a weird thing whitout a arrow (idk how called the moving thing)
@ArranMc03 odd i play dirt 2 the extreme mode and i place 1st even with a crash dirt 3 i can have a perfect run and just barely make first if not im second

Dirt 2 is for kid ... DiRT 2 Doesn't have much same things as real world... just look at the menu... how can be a famous rally driver have to stay in RV?? and not all cars/ sponsors is same as real world..... for me DiRt 2 is more fun but its looks like for kids... like extreme effect or any... DiRt 3 is more simulator which that for adult like gran turismo, Forza, Shift etc. i think the real rally driver more choose the exclusive one, Dirt 3...

@nfdids why Dirt 3 can't call a simulator game?! when i play dirt 3 after i drive a real car, i can feel it very realistic even better than NFS shift 2. Dirt 2 is not realistic at all, but it more fun.
@Gwee2008 real rally stages are narrow, dirt 3 stages are wide, try richard burns rally and then try dirt 3 and see who has the best physics and who´s closer to the real deal, dirt 3 is a joke compared to pure rally games, even Colin Mcrae rally

Dirt 2 and 3 stages look like same the point is for fun, even this both games not a 100% pure rally, i can't find world rally championship mode, dirt 1 is more serious. Whatever, dirt 3 is enough to call a simulator game, i don't know you play with gamepad or wheel, maybe the difference here..
@Gwee2008 Dirt 3 is also a scam and you are asking why, here it goes: codemasters released the game almost in June. In July and August they released all the goodies as DLC and you have pay for them, so you don´t buy a complete game, to be complete you have to buy the rest, so you don´t pay 60 €, you pay 80 € , and some of the contents are stuff from DiRT and DiRT2!!!

@Gwee2008 Do you have access to cars like the ones in game? Did you try rfactor? Although it's not up to date, the feel is better than shift 2's. I did not try dirt 3 yet (pricy), but I am reading that it's not realistic, especially when it comes to braking behaviour.
@cero815 hi, i didn't try rfactor. i don't know.. i think different rc games had different driveability(sensitive) or you can adjust. The important thing is we can control it. actually D3 is more easy to control, i dont think shift 2 can do gymkhana even drift. ya, i cant drift on shift 2 :( what about realistic? just up to you..
@Gwee2008 well, give it a try, it does not have the best graphics (although there are some addons for slight improvements), but it provides a more realistic feel of the wheel and it is said to be really realistic. You can download lots of tracks and cars. I'd have liked to test Dirt 3, but I often read it's not realistic and comparing shift 2 vs rfactor... I noticed I want to have more physics than show.
@Gwee2008 of course reality is better, but think about the fact that there are many add-ons, many updatet by their creators and some cars come with soundfiles recorded from the real thing, not sounding as bad as shift 2 for example. Some people out there seem to have contact to the real cars and try to adapt the models to the real thing as close as possible. Last time I saw dirt 3 for under 16€+delivery I'll think about it although I read at least braking was too arcade i don't find mods.
dirt 3 much better and also doesnt have that X-TREME feel that put off dirt 2, dirt 2 was still awesome though, but i prefer rally rather than only having 3 rally stages on dirt 2.
Dirt 1 got better driving experience, Dirt 2 got better graphics (in my opion) and better environments (like Vietnam, much better than Finland wich looks for me PS2 HD Colin).
And Dirt3 got annoying menu, first time is ok, but several time its boaring waiting for the effects ends, and always i open a new cahllenge start speak a grol and a guy how cool i am, annoying than Dirt 2 Ken hype menu...
@GigglingGirI because of the high speeds the car reaches, The need for Downforce becomes more important to keep the car from spinning out, The bigger the spoilers, The more downforce it gives to the car as the air rushes over it, =]

Drit 3 the roads are 6m wide, not super exciting ! in Dirt 2 the roads are more technical with my Driving Force GT

On console am very disappointed about Dirt3.
