what is the strumming pattern that you are using in the beginning for the main part? I have got everything else down but I can't get the strum pattern sounding exactly right.

Just the strumming pattern on the intro. it seems like a couple of strums on the top few strings followed by a full strum of all strings but wanted to see what you do because your version sounds pretty smooth

ok, first off, i primarily use my middle and ring fingers on the down strum, and the side of my thumb for the up strum (very subtle) for this part, and i don't really keep track of which strings i'm playing on. after the end of each chord change, i first do an up strum, quickly followed by a soft slap/mute with my thenar (had to google to find this out this part of the hand), followed by an up strum, then 2 down strums. Rinse and repeat.

Very nice cover once again :) Sometimes I wonder if at that time JM didnt intentionaly played his songs the hardest way possible to annoy musician rookie like us doing covers, those chorus chords are so painy in that song :D Anyway, very good so far !
