Wish there were more videos of the Thrashers. Have a lot fond memories of going to their annual concert on Thanks Giving night in San Antonio. One time Jim could't make it so none other than Rosie Rozelle sang tenor with them that night. Now there were some high notes that night to be sure.
john gresham has one of the best bass voices i've ever heard and personally i think they should have used his talents a little more than that of their usual lead singer
Hi! I totally dig this tune. Is there any way you could post it with the audio at a reasonable level? The current posting is - i fear - bound to turn more people off than turn them on.
I Am So Glad I Found This.. The Bass Singer Is My Uncle!! JT Gresham ~ He Passed Away 16 Years Ago In September.. He Was A Great Singer.. Him And My Daddy Sang Togther In The Pilgrems Quertet Years Ago.. Thank You For Posting This ~ JT's Son Was Showing Our Family This Today..
This was my 1st time seeing this on youtube. It brought back so many wonderful memories. My father, Dewitt Holland, loved southern gospel so much he booked & promoted it back in 60's & 70's. He booked The Thrashers, in their early days & they became very good friends, along with Wendy Bagwell, Jerry Goff & many others. I don't think he ever missed an "America Sings" tv show. Thank you Jim, Buddy, Joe and Jerry, John and many more Thrasher Brothers.
What a thrill to see the Thrasher Brothers after all these years. It brought back so many fond memories for me. I would love to see more, if anybody has any. I have one treasured album from the one concert they did in Bedford, IN so many years ago.
Thanks for posting. Could you please match the names with faces in this video? I have an upload of these brothers singing, but am not sure of the ID's of each member. Thanks...
I love the smokeie mountains and smokie norful..and even smokie robinson suits me fine...i guess i'm in trouble..c'mon get of the high horse..some say that they must sing about a different Jesus then that they believe in how's that not condemning?
This ia a fantastic example of a great bass singer.I knew John and he was a very kind warm hearted Christian. He is very loved by southern gospel fans and should already be in the hall of fame. The Thrashers were a first class act.
smokers singing music for Jesus? How does anyone else define the word hippocrite? The Jesus they be singing about must not be the Jesus I believe in because my Jesus would make them "right". I love them and God loves them too but when talent takes a front row to testimony the christian world should stand against that. Those in ministry should be held to a higher standard.
I don't know how I would define 'hypocrite', but I would learn how to spell it before passing judgement. While your 'Jesus' may make them 'right', mine keeps me broken and relying upon his grace. Many good Christians are smokers; many hateful 'Christians' are tee-totalers. Find humility, before the Lord foists it upon you.
a hippocrite is the sinner that cast the first stone.. that would be you. we are all siners friend and as christians we frogive and offer prayer, we do not condem and judge that is gods place not yours
I saw them in Springdale, AR at the Brumley Sing about 11 years ago for a "reunion" thing that they did...every single one of them were backstage smoking and it really disappointed me.
AMEN!!!!! I am not promoting smoking, but you make a VERY VALID POINT! I've heard the Thrasher Brothers in concert many times. During their "hayday", they gave an excellent performance on stage. MoJoPiano

Neil Thrasher, a prolific country music songwriter, is related in some way to this group, I believe.

Yeah, Neil is the son of Joe Thrasher, the tenor (& later lead) in the group. A truly talented bunch!

I would not be too hard on them. Its the same as seeing a 250 lb. singer eating junk food. We have lots them and we all give them a pass.
This is a great video!

I know...I was just really disappointed for some reason. I'm not judging them...they're great singers!
