its amazing to see the view into the history of GGS, quite a few aspects havnt changed, unfortunately as someone else said, the old scoreboard is no longer there.
But i think something like cadets is needed to get the current generation of kids back on track with responsibility, respect and discipline. It was going down when I was there in early 2000s, but its only continued to drop (like in has in the rest of society)
I was a boy at Corio 65 to 70 and the corps days and rowing/football/cricket etc are just as I remember them even if they are filmed a bit earlier. Thanks for the memories. Its interesting to see JRD on film as HM as he was head when i was at Glamorgan and was always a bit of a legend to us. Thanks for the memories!!
This brings back memories galore. I was in this poorly run concentration camp in from '68 to '74. I assume it was at a low ebb in its history - certainly you would hope it is better these days. Still remember trudging rude words into the frozen grass on the oval in front of Cuthy on frosty mornings for the benefit of early morning fliers from Avalon. By the time anyone complained, the words had evaporated before they could be checked!
You should have been there in the late 1940's & 1950's when it was a well run concentration camp!! This footage was from 1955. The film has faded a bit over the years but evokes a few pleasant memories, too. Avalon had not yet been fully developed then and was an RAAF station then with a just few Sabre jets. Regards:VL
