I recommend having the tools elevated to a height that makes them easier to work with, crouching down whilst transporting hot material can be dangerous.
@Axbent Yes, we leave the flask in place so we can put the clamps on. Yes, bronze is harder to work with than aluminum. It takes longer to melt and is harder to cut and file.

what would it look like if you, say, just simply pour the bronze openly over a sandstone (or green sand or whatever) engraving? Would this be too reckless? How would the casting turn out?
@ RBTCLD - That's all very well, if you're happy to attribute elemental attributes of conscious will to atoms moving at 1,000 Celsius - until you fail to notice a hairline crack in your crucible and find your nikes have gone and left your feet in their very own comfy little furnace. What are you going to say to the bronze then? Maybe 'good dog' will get it to stop?
I'm guessing your handle stands for Retarded But Totally Cool with Losing Digits . . .
Nice to see a fairly clean work area compared to many shops on youtube. You look like you have good experience. Why not wear a bit of protective gear and make a better holder so you cant loose the pouring crucible when you are cleaning it out? no sleeves, short gloves, and tennis shoes. Everybody's a hero. at least not barefoot like some of these dudes.
i made a cupple forges my self but i wanted a really nice one and i looked on the internet and stumbled apon lost and foundry i orderd the large kit and it is suppost to come on mndaay i am really excited for it to come
great video...what is your crucible made of. wanted to try and make my own, or if you don't mind let me know where you bought yours.

Jeans and shoes while casting bronze. I don't even think there's better safety wear out there than that..

Was the sand wet or dry during the pouring?
MrMantura 4 months ago
@MrMantura The sand is slightly wet, about 5% moisture. They call it greensand because of the moisture content, like green wood(not dry).
