But historically, there were countless armies that were bigger in terms of sheer size and manpower ;) You can start with the German army and the Russian army in WW2, and go all the way back to the army of Napoleon or even the Roman Army, or that of Alexander the Great.
The only thing I don't like about people singing the national anthem these days is that they always want to drag out the last few words to make themselves look better. It about our country, not your 5 minutes of fame!

@smeary10 Ok the Air Force does not fly any mission without some kind of training. This is considered a training mission, not combat training but basic formation training. When they debrief this the pilots will get credit for which they have to practice every so often. Plus it is a recruiting tool!

The cost of diverting three or four frontline fighters to perform a formation flypast over a sports ground every weekend, for every game across the country is a hell of a lot of "formation training", don't you think? @smeary10 Air Force pilots are required to fly a certain amount of hours every month. They are gonna be flying anyway so its not really a waste of money for doing something the would just be doing in the middle of nowhere anyway
