this happened to me too. I had my laptop checked out by a professional and he said that my problem was that the cpu wasn't in the motherboard all the way. Maybe you should try reinstalling your cpu.
Hi I have just brought a faulty one of these. Same issue. It's a GPU fault and very common with this model. You will need to get the GPU reworked. Hairdryer trick don't always work. You need an infra red rework station like I have for repairing these. Basically you need to preheat the GPU at 160 degrees then heat it with IR at 300. This will reflow it. Ideally you would remove clean and re-ball before replacing. I'm based in the UK if anyone needs a repair. Regards
I tried it and it didn't work. :( Could it be because most of my thermal paste was on the heat sink and not on the graphics card? I even tried it with a lighter, and that didn't work either.
I had the same problem some days ago. I tried it with the hair dryer and it worked. So I can recommand it (if the warranty is already over). But take CARE that you open the screen and maybe put off the keyboard. My screen has due to the extrem heat (because it was closed) some color changings and some buttons (ctrl, fn, windows button, alt) "have changed their form". So take in mind that the heat will "pass through" the GPU/MoBo.
Hi there, I have the same laptop and this has just happened to mine today. Mine is almost 3 years old now and up to now has been running perfectly....
I have tried connecting this to my tv via hdmi but can not get it to work, should I be connecting via a different method?
@n4eer I don't think it will show on a TV because I believe there is nothing to show. If like mine the graphics card has died, you need to call technical support and negotiate a repair, don't cave to the first price. Or you could look up more solutions on youtube.
This happened to mine a while ago, except my windows did start up however I've not gotten it fixed yet :/ I get no visuals on the laptop but if I use an external monitor it comes up fine. Forums I went on said faulty GPU too but I have no idea how to fix it myself. Have you fixed yours or have you found someone to fix it for you?
@Lokioria That sounds like the same problem, I managed to make a big enough fuss with Dell technical support, they offered me a years warranty at a reduced rate and the motherboard including graphics were replaced for free under the warranty agreement. Try your own luck, let me know how it goes.
@TeeZeeTech Hi, I have the same problem right now with my M1530 laptop. Can you give me the number you used to contact Dell people ? It will be a help for sure. And what would be a good negotiation price for such an motherboard and grapics replacement with a year warranty.

i have the same problem with my dellxpsm1530 and i fixed it. just pre-heat the nvidia chip in your motherboard, u can use hair dryer in just 10 min. and its done
I am having the same problem with my dell xps m1530. I have opened and cleaned under fan etc. I do not know what the nvidia chip looks like on the motherboard. can you help me
@suz629 The nVidia chip is the one closest to the Intel Processor (pink surrounding). It will most likely have an excess amount of thermal paste which may have caked and gone hard.
I've had the same problem. I didn;t find a cure but 1 trick is to start it up wait till u hear windows boot up, close the laptop then open it. I also have been using a spare external monitor and the computer works fine, I just don't know why it gives this problem. I suspect the bus from the cpu to the screen may have a short but what do I know..

Did you try to boot up while holding the D key ? This will test if its the GPU failing

I have the same problem. I going to try the hair dryer on the graphics card trick and see if that works.
