BTW / If I haven't said it yet (which I haven't) You did a fantastic job posting this video I like it very much...... Ann-Margret is one of the most Beautiful & Talented ladies that God ever created..... Thank you for posting this Mentaltenant, YOU ROCK.... and whoever this sierria animal is should be banned from your page (or even YouTube)..
Why does the caption read that she is with Desi Arnaz Jr. when she clearly says it's the composer of the song "Craig Carter???? (Not only that but you misspelled "Desi) LOL..... did someone make a boo boo??? or is he really in there somewhere?
@SEVFEST This was from Lucille Ball's show "Here's Lucy" which starred Lucille & Desi Arnaz Jr. In this episode of Desi's character, Craig Carter, appeared on Ann-Margrets's show singing this song that Craig composed. In the episode Lucy Carter(Lucille Ball) & Craig bump into Ann Margret. She was a guest star.
@SEVFEST Because that is Desi Jr. with Ann on Here's Lucy. Although he/she could have said with Desi Jr. who plays Craig Carter on Here's Lucy, he/she didn't have to for anyway to understand it.
@fluffybunny41 Lucy kicked his ass obviously. I heard she was a strict parent. Which was very GOOD. Parents today just let their kids get away with murder.
@sierria64 , you're stupid. Ann-Margret is a legend and an awesome dancer. She's still going strong after more than 50 years in the business. Only the best stick around that long. Of course, none of us have ever heard of you, and never will.
Great production number from a '60s tv special. Ann-Margret's timing is amazing. One of the best dancers ever captured on film. You can tell she's having so much fun doing it.
Great little performance - brings back memories of Anne singing with ELVIS! WOW - just her.
There ARE the good ole days -w hen TV was a pleasure to watch and people looked forward to gathering with small children. Not like these days, where everything is Adult - not suited for children under 13! How sad,how very sad life has changed. (Wish I could turn back the clock of time)
Jesslepp, yes I'm Kubeksfriend. Steve March Torme. And thank you for the very kind words concerning my performance at Lawrence. That was a fun show and I thought the vocal choir was just outstanding. Now my goal is to perform with a symphony orchestra there. Hope to meet you then. Cheers, Steve
Mr. Kubeksfriend, if you're the guy who composed this song (looked it up per your suggestion), you must be the guy who wowed us all at Lawrence U tonight...thank you! Hope you enjoy your new home, and that we get to see a lot more of you! Your are very talented and obviously loved by all ages--my daughter, a student at Lawrence, swooned at your voice! Thanks too for The Avenue radio station--you've brought verve to this part of the world. See you maybe someday at the Festival brat stand!
Anyway, the song sounds very little like the way it was written but I was happy to get a song into the show. That is not only James Burton's guitar, it's James Burton playing it on the track. If you go to Steve March Tormé here on YouTube, you'll see what I really do. Check out my videos. By the way, I'll see Desi this month in Vegas as I'm doing a concert in the town he lives in next month. And I agree, Ann-Margret, as usual, looks great. Enjoy.
Okay, I hate to do this (well, not really) but I'm going to give you the scoop on this song and this particular episode. My name is Steve March-Tormé and I wrote "Country Magic". Desi and I have been friends since we were 12 years old. When I was 16, he asked me to write a song for him to sing with Ann-Margret on his mom's show. I wrote an "Eagles/Poco" type of country song and they liked it. They then hired Billy Strange to do a "Vegas" type arrangement so that Desi and Ann could dance to it.
@Kubeksfriend you know that this really sucks .... desi should have kept to trying to act.. i think that they should have got some one else... my goodness he really sucked.... boy the 60's ..... he must have really been on acid tripp 4 this shit... i was born in the 60's glad i never had to see this when it aired
I think people that are too jaded don't appreciate the innocence of this era. It's a far cry from today's crude and rude TV. Give me old camp TV from the 60s and 70s any day!
yOu guys are all so negative yeah it may not be the best sOng but keep in mind it was the 60s!! I love Desi Arnaz Jr. performance although hes NO ELVIS lol but hes good you can so tell who he got his talent from the one and only babalu man himself.. =]
i don't care what anyone says...this song, the dancing and everything about it is so awsome...very psychadelic...and Ann Margret(gorgeous as always) carries her own on Here's Lucy..Dezi's good too..but Ann Marget is awsome...luv it,thanx for posting.
That song is so NOT country. It sounds like the crappy songs they made Elvis Presley sing in his later movies -- but Desi Jr. was definitely no Elvis. Still, Ann-Margret makes anything worth watching!
Country Magic...not so country, but plenty of magic. This is a camp masterpiece. Works on about a thousand levels of irony at the same time. Ann-Margret is unbelievable, Desi Jr. insane in that lace shirt and the dancers are genius.
"Here's Lucy" was a sitcom, not a variety show. If you want to know why variety shows died, have a look at The Captain and Tennille, Tony Orlando and Dawn, or Pink Lady!
This was one of the problems with Here's Lucy...Desi Jr. SHOULD HAVE been a major teen idol like David Cassidy (in fact Here's Lucy started in 1968 and Partridge Family didn't start until 1970), but for some reason wasn't, in fact this clip is practically the only time on the series he showed real emotions and sexuality (those grunts sound almost orgasmic).
I last saw this about 30 years ago - and my memory didn't do it justice - it's actually a FAB clip, not lip-synced the best - but therein lies part of its charm... Desi could have tried his hand at anything
Love this..so trippy!
love Lucy,Ann, and the whole thing...a 10/10 performance.

Why are people always hating on Ann-Margret. You guys have no legitimate reason to hate her. She is a lovely woman, who is a great actress.
To bring up shit that happened like 50 years ago is just ridiculous. Get over it.
Ann is gorgeous, and frankly I think a lot of people are jealous of her.
