  • your a prick

  • Reality of Heroin which no longer exists in such a form!

But one can rise above it all and i now just listen and am so Comfortably numb!¬ LOL!

    Love it!

  • When it hit 6:00... Thats the point where I reached nirvana in rhythmic ecstasy!

  • simple..Pink Floyd is God...my english cant describe how great they are..

  • All I can say is thank god for Floyd and lots of Acid when I was younger in the 90's

  • I missed it by 1 week when I was in London but managed to see the New York show.

  • i was there

  • @SuperLittlemiss16 You are a legend

  • @SuperLittlemiss16 i d'ent see ya ! ,,,,,or them either, if truth's known, i was 23, and ..............away wi t' fairies.

  • So is he above the wall here?

  • He visto a Pink Floyd en vivo, pero esa gira en particular me hubiera gustado asistir pero era un niño. Mi hermano si lo hizo, que envidia,de la buena; porsupuesto

  • One has to say, in light of some of the negative comments, it's very easy to criticise a live performance; we judge them by the recorded version we know so well.

All anyone can really say is thank God for David Gilmour, Roger Waters and the rest of the PF crew for creating an enduring masterpiece of which this is an undoubted and all-time highlight.

Masterful playing by Gilmour over four decades of music, Pink Floyd just get better with every listen.

  • @millsy2010 Hell, I think half the "problem" with this, if there is any is that the recording equipment in the 1980's sucked compared to what is available today. Shit, they threw down on this like they always do.

  • I was there, four days before my 21st birthday and it was SUPERB. It's a pity the sound on this video can't capture the emotion i felt on that special night.

  • @m22frogger

Gilmour has said it was his favourite part of the show, as he was free from the headphone chatter (he was musical director on the tour) and could focus on doing what he loved best, trying to make his playing a little better each night, "belting out the solo to one of the best pieces of music [he'd] ever written".

  • the more i play pink floyd music, the more i feel it is timeless...as fresh now as the day it was recorded...love it....

  • nice to see the original version with the the wall

  • Some people are saying how he must of been shit scared up there regardless if he's a guitar god or not. But honestly look how intent he was playing that instrument...it probably didn't even fucking phase him.. ;)

  • David is god!!

  • Sublime....

  • waters ,,,, crazy , insane ,, in his youth , spoiled ,,,genius,,, Waters today ,, seasoned professional ,,, appreciative ,genius ,, The two gods of rock needed each other

  • Wish I was there......

  • Yeah!

  • AWESome

  • If they can remaster and release Live at Pompeii, they can remaster and release the wall live...

  • @kev5621 Let's hope that doesn't happen any time soon.

  • helloo is there any body in there

just nod if you can hear me

    is there anyone at home

relax ill need some information first

    just the basic facts

can you show me were it hurts

  • There is no pain you are receding

A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.

You are only coming through in waves.

Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

  • Blues is sooooooooooo much better and more emotional than that stupid eighties shred shit!!! David gilmour is the best ever!!

  • @Griskabora it's not about shredding. it's about emotion.

  • @Griskabora plus if you think you can shred like him, try it like he does.. with your fingers

  • @Griskabora woah woah woah myabe faster, but better with more feeling and emotion? nnnooo wwwaayy

  • @Griskabora Mate your only gonna get hates for saying something like that, shredding really isn't what makes a good guitarist, so you just go and shred in your room by yourself for however long you want cause we really don't care. When you mature, come back out of your room and then try an learn what real music is actually all about. :)

  • Professor Roger

  • @cloudchaser07 thats Professor Waters to you sir hahaha

  • He looks like retarded person in the ending of the solo

  • @adammrowka you are an retarded person

  • @adammrowka That was a stupid and unnecessary comment and only a retarded person would make it! He was biting his bottom lip and got caught in a really blurry silhouette. You only WISH you were as great as David Gilmour!! DUH!!

  • ... and the sound!.. THE SOUND!!! who can come even closer to Pink Floyd sound!?!?

  • The middle solo in this song is so LITTLE, SHORT, SIMPLE and POWERFULL!!! I wonder how many guitarists in the WHOLE world can do such a thing!? This guy is incredible!..Have to put a comment here for the idiots saying he plays slow, well, YES!.. he is not the fatest guitarist in the world, but the feeling he puts in his strings!.. is like he knows how to make the connection with God and translate His words into melodies and notes!..

  • @ChinoFavre

Many fast guitarists play fast to cover up the fact that they have no sense of phrasing or melody, so they overcompensate with dexterity. That's an enviable skill in itself, but they don't make the instrument sing and speak as a player like David Gilmour does.

And I have yet to hear someone in Gilmour's league who doesn't respect what he does.

  • The BEST....

  • If you can't feel the music, feel the lead, then it can never be explained. FAST does NOT equal good! Nor does SLOW. It's not about the speed. To me, a guitar solo is all about how the person playing it feels. It should speak to you as if they are singing it. Gilmour is/was one of the best. IMHO

  • @pcdr01

I read somewhere long ago Gilmour used to record himself scat-singing to the demos of the songs he was to solo to. Then he'd learn the notes he sang on guitar and develop the solos from there. If you listen extensively to his guitar work, that's a very plausible explanation as to why he sounds so melodic. Instead of just throwing a barrage of notes at you, he offers real melodies within a song's structure; a song-within-a-song.

  • One of the best guitar solos in the history of Rock

  • 4 "i don't like"???

    °_°

  • @Griskabora You, sir, are an idiot.

  • @Griskabora Oh God, do you even know who he is? Name one guitarrist, Page, Beck, even Clapton, David Gilmour outweeights them all ONLY with this song, not mentioning he is also a singer and a composer.

  • @Griskabora

On his own admission he can't play fast. He loses coordination when he tries, so he stays within his capabilities and exploits that. And he does it sooooooooooo well. You can just get lost in solos like this (the good way).

And he has said his favorite guitarist is Jeff Beck.

  • @Griskabora I can shred and you are a fucking MORON!

  • i just got back from holland on monday, flew over to see roger do the wall in concert in arnhem, words just cant describe how good it was, the experience of a lifetime

im gonna try get a ticket to go again and see it at the o2 and pray that dave gilmour plays that night

  • 4 people are comfortably DUMB.

  • Actually, those 4 people have become uncomfortably numb.

  • Comment removed

  • @arkmay3 Amazing comment!!!!bravo!!! They are sure comfortambly dumb!!!

  • @arkmay3 you could have just said

  • i was there! what a night! nobody plays a guitar as beautifuly and as claanly as david gilmour!!!!!!

  • en this is music of the 80's just incredible

  • @juhaz100

isnt it from the 70s ? sounds a bit like 70s to me , really really good late 70s music :)

  • @kloppskalli the wall was released on 1979 so it doesnt make much difference

  • @kloppskalli

It was written in 1978, recorded in 1979, and popular from then on.

  • the fucking best music still

  • It is really sad that there will never be music as good or even close to being as good as this. The music is over, the song is finished...........

  • why does none this fucking days don't understand what real music means

  • everytime I feel sick, I listen this song, because this solo and this amazing guitar player tell me something: There is no pain :)

  • great guitar player...in a great rock band...

  • David gilmour is the manliest manly man that has ever lived, he simply plays with pure emotion

  • DAMN. what..an........OESUM SOLO!!!!!!! it just takes me away to another world.

  • I saw Roger Waters and "The Wall -- Live" in Boston twice on this tour. Most amazing show I've ever seen. Would have loved it if Gilmour had been there, but the guitarist was great and the singer did fine.

Next concert I go to is really gonna suck by comparison.

  • @har9020 I was at the Boston Show too (sunday night)!! simply amazing.. I said the same thing on the way home ...."I think that was the best show I've ever seen!" I hope the show comes back to boston!

  • Saw the wall live last night. DITTO. I closed my eyes and invisioned Dave there for the solos on this song. Gilmours is amazing.

  • saw the wall live last night. DITTO. i invisioned Dave there for the solos on this song. Gilmour the man.

  • Just saw Roger Water's "The Wall" in Kansas City (30 OCT 10). Show was INCREDIBLE! However, when it came to this portion of the show, I was disappointed. Not the same without Dave up their.... Would kill to be at the concert where Dave is supposed to pay the suprise visit and play.

  • @cptking68 saw him last night at MSG... OUTSTANDING!!

  • @cptking68 saw it last night in philly, the wall practically fell on top of me thats how close we were, i said the same thing to my dad, would've been incredible if dave showed up on top of the wall

  • @pickmeuptaylor Saw the show last night. DITTO on Gilmour on the wall. Amazing.

  • One of the greatest guitar solos of all time..Thanx!

  • the best of the best of the best solos ever! is sooo f****g great!!!.. i dont think there exists a word to describe this =D...

  • Great live version, but my fave is Gilmour's live in Gdansk. Which is totally mind blowing!

  • GRANDÍSIMOS!!!

  • one of greatest closing guitar solos ever!!!!!

  • Damn, I can't wait til September. I just won 2 free tickets to see the Wall. I hope David shows up at the Chicago shows. He most likely will make the appearance at Earl's Court, but who knows :D .

  • @RantingThespian Man - I think I entered the same contest -WDRV? I wondering/hoping maybe I may win too...

  • @lupechennel it was from 105.5 WMMM in Madison, WI

  • david is a great performer but im not gonna lie he must have been shitting himself standing 30ft in the air on a wall with no harness

  • gilmour does NOT GIVE A FUCK

  • this man is just god, i was there on the tuesday. still the best gig i have ever seen.

  • David is going to play C.Numb in one of Roger's Wall shows!!!

  • Where did you get this from? Sounds... unlikely but would be awesome!!

  • why they split? is it because of waters?

  • que raro...gilmour tocando arriba, y rogerio abajo...fue una premonicion?

  • oh my god. that solo was AWESOME!!!!!!! to me personally, as far as moving audiences' emotions goes, clapton and gilmour both have equal caliburs in that area. nobody else impressed and moved me more than those two extraordinary men.

  • why does'nt anybody talk about the genius of Waters' lyrics, esp. the doctor parts. They are totaly sinister and cool.

  • When Gilmour gets to heaven, God will ask him to teach him the solo.

  • @kev5621 lol great comment man...

  • @kev5621 Good question...

  • @kev5621 Either that or god will sink to his knees and cry "we are not worthy!"

  • @whangie1 bahaha

    Waynes World reference??

    hahha soo good :D

  • There must be a way to restore this footage and release it properly on DVD...they filmed it for the Wall movie but it was left out.

  • @yyzllp i've seen some footage that looked really good, it's just this copy isn't as good because it's from someones collection. I think the footage I saw was on the special features for the wall movie dvd.

  • wasn't this the last performance with roger?

  • this only thing that sucks about pink floyed is that they never put out a god quality dvd concert of them in thier 70's career

  • @zosojplp what? never seen Pink Floyd "Live at Pompeii"? in my opinion it is THE BEST of Pink Floyd. doesn't include anything from "wish you were here" or "animals" though. that kinda sucks.

  • @vesselsofthedivine

That other person probably meant there isn't a more inclusive good quality film of Pink Floyd from the 1970's. Like you said, no "Wish you were Here," ec cetera. It would be nice to see "Dark Side" and so forth in a good release like the original "Pompeii" concert film.

  • Is this available on CD?

  • @meisterglanz42

It's called "Is There Anybody Out There?" This may be what you were asking. I like it a zillion times more than the original; it's better on every level.

  • ahaha...Roger tea bagged David behind the bricks

  • Awesome!

  • dunno, gilmour's kind of head and shoulders over Water's weird kitsch.

  • @daddysevenpointfiver

your an idiot...a true inbred idiot

  • fuckin beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cada dia amo mais o Pink Floyd

  • Probably the greatest band of all time.

  • @JanineRobin Probably?

  • Its not my favorite band, but i have to agree that the guitar solo of "Comfortably Numb" is the best solo ever.

  • greatest guitar solo ever

  • never gets old

  • Now this is soloing. More feeling and less speed. Awesome. All Gimour's solos blow me away.

  • I don't mean to upset any hard core foyd fan as I am one my self, but i'm not too keen on this version of the solo, dunno if its the effects or what but I prefer the Live 8 or Pulse (obvs cos that is epic). Still I'm nit picking... What a great performance would give anything to have been there!

  • no way, the pulse version doesn't separate itself at all from most songs the way this version does .. this truly gives me goosebumps!!

  • How is it possible to wear a friggin' doctors coat and STILL look totally mouth - watering in it? 101% Roger Waters fan. The Wall looked amazing.

What I would give to go to a Pink Floyd concert!! Still, I hear Roger's doing The Wall this year, so I'll nag my parents into letting me go!!!

  • I appreciate Roger Waters talent but as a person he comes across as a pompous ass.

  • @zigarela

Many, many people have said that.

  • Roger Waters voice brilliant!!!!

  • I was there too.

  • if this is from a video or dvd i need it

  • I recently read Roger explaining excaclty what this song was about, it's pretty cool. Apparantly he had a similar experience described here. Before doing a gig on the Animals tour, there was something wrong with Roger's hands (forgot what) and he couldn't play. So they called a doctor and numbed his hands so he could play, but he couldn't feel anything.

Anyway, the point of the song is that, in Roger's experience, people that handle gigs generally don't care about their musicians.

  • As long as they sell the tickets and their musicians can perform. He said he was also forced to play at times when he was feeling ill or depressed. Put simply, "The Show Must go on." :)

  • Actually Roger was having stomach cramps and they gave him some stuff to help him... unfortunately it also made it near impossible for him to hold his bass. His hands were so numb he didn't come out for the encore.

  • Precursor to U2's ZOO-TV?

  • I Love David's vocals

  • No one, to this day, bends notes or has a immaculate vibrato as this gentleman named David Gilmour.

  • @civilengsi Agreed. Many great guitarists can make the instrument sing; Gilmour is one of the few who can make it cry.

  • @civilengsi man you're absolutely right!

  • @civilengsi Really? Clapton, Trower, SRV...

  • @beerispoormanscupid you re right. clapton has a better vibrato than gilmour... because david use a lot the tremolo.... but gilmour has such a wonderful talent to create those chords... those progressions... in that way... he is better than clapton

  • @civilengsi and such a full spectrum voice

  • @civilengsi Slash is terrific with that, so are some blues players, but nobody is better at it than Gilmour that's for sure.

  • @civilengsi the fuck? there are tons of guitarist thats better than him with better techniques.

  • I was there and although I dont/didnt do drugs I felt I was tripping on this...Brilliant!!

  • same here i went twice! oh 2 be 18 again

  • you were there???? oh my god.... you lucky lucky human being. i wasn't even alive...

  • @ggwillym, U lucky individual, You don't know what i would give to be at a floyd concert, unfortinatly i was born 13 years to late for this one, and I was two young for pulse, If only i had been at this age when Floyd were in there prime

  • Love how at 2.28 it looks like Dave has just remembered there's another line before the solo

  • Today is the 30th anniversary of the release of this album. And yes... I say album because that's what I bought on November 24th, 1979. RIP Sid and Richard!! You are loved and missed deeply!! Shine on you two crazy diamonds!!

  • let's hope roger waters will release the recently discovered 35mm footage of the 1981 the wall live shows...

  • This is the greatest song ever written.

  • show

  • aahhh to have been there with a doobie in hand

  • couldn't agree with you more bro.

  • This is the best next to pulse

  • the 1980 version of this song is one of the best out of the solo's , first time they eer played the solo live + a different sort of way of playing it

  • i like how hes on top of the wall

  • Excellent! I prefer original audio!

  • Comment removed

  • re you a dude?

  • No im girl

  • best concert ever! if u can find it, buy it. or else download it

    just amazing

  • Where is the official DVD for this? Come guys, 30th anniversary, it would be a treat!

  • @floydian2007 I read a Rollingstone interview with Roger in which one part mentioned him watching "newly restored" footage of the Pink Floyd Wall shows "that will no doubt be one day available to be purchased by fans". I hope he does release a DVD, I can't wait to see quality footage of the Wall shows. Until then, we will just have to live with this and the even granier Nassau Coliseum show. It's better than nothing, though.

  • @floydian2007 there is no official DVD. This is a bootleg
