I will get the V8 on January 10.. I wanted someone to tell me how does it fit on the P5Q E and what speeds and temps do you have.. could you PM me with that?
hey I'm curious if you ran into the same problem i did with the p5q-e board. when i install my nvidia gtx 260 core 216 video card , it hits those 2 capacitors near the blue pci-e 2.0 slot. did you run into that issue ? mine works but i feel uncomfortable with the fact that its only like 98% in the slot. not much i can do about it. plus im' pretty sure if i put it in the lower black slot it will only run at x8 instead of x16.
I have the same mobo yesterday i managed to recover from a bad bios update using the backup bios chip of the mobo. 4:15 of the clip shows the two bios chips on this mobo at the left of the power button. Look for diehard bios howto in the asus support site if needed.
I have this same motherboard with the tuniq tower. It almost doesn't fit into my case it is so big. it does a great job though, i have the fan speed set to almost minimum for every day use. If i put it on full it over powers my case fan.
can someone quickly tell me somthing, i have atuniq tower, just given to me, all i have is the actual thing, no screws or backplate (if it needs one) will i need one?
the satas you don't know what they are for are raid 0 its for backing up all your activity into a different drive just in case if you have a virus or a crashed or failed hard drive... very useful for workstations and personal use
whats wrong with them made in any other country by solid state capicitors? i always wonder that when asus mentions their capacitors are made in japan..
Japanese capacitors are notoriously known for their above average quality, while Chinese capacitors have a bad reputation of being made with cheap electrolyte and poor sealing. The low quality capacitors have issues with leaking and the electrolyte drying out. Mobo manufacturers advertise solid Japanese capacitors because they are far superior.
nice video, tapped out my DSL connection though- thats what i get for liveing rural. I just got this board, opted for p5 over the new p6 i7 systems due to cost
Basically all the P5Q boards offers about all the same features across the boards, just some have little extra things? Or are some P5Q's drastically different?
Running P5N-d board in my Cosmos 1000 case with older 3.73 Extreme dual core that is OC'ed to 4.07ghz. Running two 8800GTX in SLI but getting silly stupid 3Dmark6 score of 2980.
Yes, using latest drivers etc.SLI confirmed.Windows Ultimate 64 bit. Any help on stepping up this 3Dmark6 score. Note- Runs stable at 59 degree C.
High Temp was anticipated due to 3.73 Extreme dual core was always tempermental.Has Corsair 4mb. Ran "Pi" stress program for 48 hrs burn in with no problem. HELP anyone??
I love quality of this video. I've been reading about this motherboard and I am looking forward to buy it. This video shows whole mobo very well so I can finally have look what I am going to buy. Always prefered videos over the pictures. Great vid!!! Many thx for it.
...if you want my advice. once i UNinstalled all the asus software i've had zero problems with this board.
anyway yeah as i said i have only a modest oc on the e8500 right now, 3.8, i'll prolly go to 4.0 eventually though. could go further but i only want/need to push but so much. this board can take it, highest i've seen the FSB on this board was 570, may be able to reach 600. depends on duo or quad though
P45 for the win! screw an Nvidia chipset. All you Nvidia fanboys can suck it lolololol!
(cont'd)....do NOT install any of the asus utilities. This means ANYthing on the mobo driver disc that says "asus." epu-6 engine, pc probe 2, ai suite, stay far away. "acpi center" will run as an app constantly if you use any of those just once, even after closing them out...my theory is they try to regulate power and speed etc through windows, and it just fucks with shit unnecessarily. so to anyone wanting this board....GO FOR IT!!! 100%...just DON'T install the "asus" software specifically
oh yea i have the e8500 (C0) @ 3.8 currently, 1.275 vcore. I will further tweak voltages at some point but haven't yet...fsb is 400 even...vtt is 1.1, vNB is 1.25 (can prolly go lower @ 400)...and yeah really god temps...mobo temp never exceeds like 26c in speedfan...
all in all my system, using this board of course, really is solid as a rock. i did encounter a few random bsod's and instability/random crashes when i first built it, but i quickly learned the culprit was the asus utilities...
hey, buddy. you know you have a nice mobo there right. yeah, i've got the same one.
quick word to the wise - take your vcore off auto ASAP. I've read numerous accounts of the p5q series (e included) overvolting a bit on auto voltage settings. stay at 1.35 or below and you're safe.
i have this board, an e8500, the tuniq tower w/ blue led fan assist, 4870, dominators 4gb 1066 2 x 2, corsair 550vx, couple caviars, asus dvd burner (sata), all in a sunbeam clear acrylic uv-blue case. sooooooo good
It was the attack of the retards. Yeah I love this board, I got this board because I wanted to run some of ati's new 4 series cars in crossfire on it. If I was going to have nvidia cards I would probably got the 750i. You wont be disappointed with this board. Its very stable for overclocking too. I have my q9450 at 3.7ghz With voltages on auto and on air. Temps don't exceed 40c EVER
Well I currently got a nvidia card, and i would possibly go SLi in the future. I'll probably end up buying the 750i along with a E8400. I might go for a Q6600 though.
So that Tuniq Tower (and uhhh, the one NOT on the southbridge) is screwed in all the way? This video helps me a lot because I'd also want to put the Tuniq on this board. Looks like the height of the NB sink doesn't get in the way of it, which is good.
lol cut half the tuniq off so you can cool the southbridge and install the graphics card lol lol
I'm SO getting this board. It looks very nice and the chipset sinks look like they should do a good job. Originally I was going to get the P5Q-EM. But after hearing problems with the onboard video getting in the way of the graphics card, I'm turned off from it.
I already have a 4870 and so I have no use for onboard video. So I definitely think this will be my next motherboard. Great video man!
get one of the ASUS P5Q series of motherboard compared to the gigabyte one you provided. Or just get a new P45 gigabyte board, there all nice and pretty cheap for what you get with them
The "thing" u r refering to as the EPU - unit is the southbridges chipset. the EPU is actually the small chip between the cpu socket and the dimms. No need to put an extra heatsink on the soutbrdge(ICH10R) because it does not generate that much heat.
Dude c'mon are you a retard. I take it you didn't watch the whole video because I was joking about the tuniq tower on the epu unit. And where I placed the "extra heatsink" is the epu unit. The small chip that is not between the cpu and the dimms but rather under the cpu is the northbridge. Get the facts straight.
I know that the chip under the cpu-socket is the northbridge, and the one you refer to as the epu-unit is the southbridge. the epu-unit is located to the upper right of the cpu-socket. It´s a small black ship whitout a heatsink. much smaller than the soutbridge where the epu sticker is. You are the one who does not have the facts my friend.
I´m right. I have the same board and the thing that´s blue with the epu-sticker is the southbridge. As you mention the northbridge is under the cpu. The EPU-unit is located to the right, above the cpu-socket area.
Great stuff. I'm also going to build a P5Q + Q9450 rig soon, and saving up for a HV30. I guess we have the same taste tech-wise.
I almost flipped when you said you were going to mount a friggen' tuniq on the EPU. You had me there for a moment haha. I'll be subscribing to your stuff, so keep them videos coming dude :]
A Canon HV 30, wait until I post the HD download link in about 23 minutes (still uploading to file front) It is 720p, I will replace it with a 1080p version in a couple days. I going to uses the render in process in the next few videos I'm putting out. It looks really great. How did you like the tjharlow way part? lol.
Sound like it will be a sweet build. I'm thinking I'll try to get a 4870x2 when they come out if the price is as good as the 4870 and 4850 were when they came out. Or I would possibly get two ocx 4870's in crossfire. Have you seen them? Core is at 950 and memory is at 4000 something, there crazy and look sweet.

okmadam06 2 years ago
yes there should be a back plate used to attain the tension on the contacts.
0leebd0 2 years ago
ok thanks, are they a universal thing (backplates) theres ones on ebay for asus motherboards, would that fit?
okmadam06 2 years ago
It would be a back plate specific to the tuniq tower i believe. You could check ebay for a start. Otherwise i'm not sure what you would do.
