I've never considered voting Liberal or Green in this election before this show of "we don't want girls to play this game" by Harper and Layton reared its ugly head. I have actually gone to their websites to check out their election platforms, long and tedious but very informative. Dion absolutely did the right thing in supporting May. In a democracy, all voices should be heard, whether you agree with them or not.
These men have really showed their true colours! Ignorant does not begin to describe and we are supposedly an advanced democratic society with womens equality!
I for one read extensively the platform of the Green Party. They have all the values I espouse and still know it takes a long time to form any constructive change. Slow, gradual and accountable, but toward goals of Canadians.
My family has been in Canada on Dads side over 200 years orginating in NS and founders of establishing a township in B.C. Western Canada. I lived in many small towns B.C. as well.
We had a good country evolving by the 60's and government politics slid horribly with privatization and allowing world politics to overly influence us. We need strong women (men), and strong mandates for protecting our resources. And supporting a good intitiative to keep corporate and industrial giants accountable.
Harper will sell us out! Jack Layton will create more beauracracies to fix old systems that became corrupt.
Until they have 12 seats, they have no more rights then the Rhinosaurus Party OF Canada! Ironically the Greens have a leader who would most resemble that Party's symbol.
The debates are for Canada's Current Elected Representives, among equals. That is a true democracy! It becam a joke, when their were 4real leaders and then May yapping in Harpers ear the entire time.
The + out of this the Greens thanks to May, won't be back until they can count to 12, which ='s no more May :)
Preston Manning (and others in past) got into federal election debates with no seats and very fringe party - alonely new little Western party that was the Reform Party formed in 1986-7 from thoughts and managed to get into bigtime debates in 1993? Because he is a man? or why? We are a democracy, all can participate in debates when it really comes down to it.
Fringe parties become bigger parties or can aid in unsettling the Tories and Whigs dontchano?! ;).
btw. reform party = alliance party = merged to progressive conservative taking a lot of reform people to topple the liberals. Hmmm, now who could have possible been the Alliance Party leader?
How 'bout Stephan Harper! Read political history, but perhaps try some blogs and really discern those who are 50 and older, as to what they have to say. In particular those of us out West! Preston Manning was just but one, But after the debates, that is when they took seats in parliament and not before!
What motivates *accountability* when either Conservatives or Liberals are the only parties?
btw - Reform party = Alliance party = merged to Progressive Conservative by 2003 taking a lot of former *reform people* to topple the Liberals. Who was the Alliance Party leader?
Stephen Harper.
That was from foundation of - no seat - Reform Party.
Greens have been a very strong fringe party est. 1983. IMHO (and many others) believe they have a right to be represented in debates.
Everyone knows, Elizabeth May only went to the debate for the Free Buffet...!!

She needs to switch to Greens in her diet, and no more cows! That way she support her idiotic religion of Man Made CO2 Gospel!

Blair Wilson (Green Party - former Liberal), is the MP for West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country.
So the Green Party officially has a member of parliament seat, just so you know. It may not be 12, but it is a seat.
