You're good with stamp, but I think you should rotate the pages slightly, the parts of go katakana at 1:27 are definitely moved. And you killed some lines ;)

There's something i'm trying to do with gimp. usually with these mangas. There's usually this area of white closely surrounding the text. To do it in photoshop you have to rasterize then stroke. How do you do it in gimp?

You don't have to rasterize the text to give it a stroke outline in Photoshop. I'm no gimp user, but perhaps there's an option similar to Photoshop's 'Blending Options' (which is the correct way to stroke outline text, btw)?

i have no idea what ur doing at the colour range bit, in ur written tutorial u dont make more layers?! im confused? i select the darkest bits the ink ect and then what?!!? masking does nothing but make it all go light.

there only 2 to 3 layers the layers which is masked and only the black ink is visible (with transparent background.).

and another layer underneath which contain the new background which is white. (eliminating the old grey news paper like background).

and the top layer which contains the cloning and fix for the art.

the color range job is to make picking all black ink easy as one step.
