Gary is a kook, and is not qualified to give advice about anything. His "doctorate" is from a diploma mill in FL. The U.S. is not a Christian nation, and never was intended to be one. The First Amendment says:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
@MrMarinegold My attack could be considered an ad hominem fallacy if I did something like the following. Gary DeMar cannot possible know what he is talking about because his eyes are brown. Conversely, I stated a fact that he is using his dubious academic credentials in an attempt to be seen as an authority. By claiming that Gary's credentials should make us listen to him, you are committing the logical fallacy of appeal to authority.
@heathdwatts Would you please refute his writings and video postings and email them to me since you consider him a Kook based on the fact his Doctorate degree is from an unaccredited school? Would you please refute the book, "Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States" by Benjamin F. Morris written in the 1850's. I have never claimed we should listen to Gary Demar because of his credentials.
@MrMarinegold First, Morris' thesis seems to be that some of the Founding Fathers claimed to be Christians sometimes, so the U.S. must be a Christian nation. Please refer to the very clearly written First Amendment to the Constitution again. We are a secular nation, no matter how many diatribes are written by believers.
Refuting Demar is not a problem. He uses the bible to form his ideology because he thinks that that book contains the word of god.
@heathdwatts We will have to agree to disagree and move on. We could play the comment game for eternity. God Bless you and your family for a thousand generations.
@heathdwatts Your first sentence calls Gary Demar a kook and you don't consider that an ad hominem attack? Secondly, who accredits the accreditors? He has a Bachelors degree and Masters degree from accredited institutions and a Doctorate from a school that has chosen to not seek accreditation.
@MrMarinegold My sentence was not as well crafted as it could have been. My problem with Gary, and people like Kent Hovind, is that they are using their unearned doctoratal degrees to forward their religiously motivated agenda.
As for accreditation, if you need a heart transplant, would you rather have your surgery performed by a Harvard educated doctor who has a 95% success rate for your type of surgery, or a graduate of the Easter Bunny School of Good Feelings who has never performed surgery?
@heathdwatts Everyone has a religiously motivated agenda. I would rather have a Harvard doctor operate on me than the Easter bunny doctor but I would rather listen to a graduate of Whitefield Theological Seminary and craft my life by their wisdom rather than a Harvard Divinity school graduate. A school, Harvard Divinity, that allows a homosexual, Peter Gomes, to teach students God's Word.
@MrMarinegold Again, which god? You have no evidence for the existence of your god, other than some Bronze Age documents of dubious and multiple origins that have passed through multiple translations.
If you turn back the clock forty years and substitute the word black for homosexual, you will be on the same, incorrect side of the social equity debate.
Teaching fairy tales and myths requires no special skills, sexuality, or intelligence. They are fairy tales, regardless of the presenter.
@heathdwatts The Bible is supported by the Manuscript evidence, archaeological record and prophetic record. God reveals His wisdom through multiple documents separated by hundreds of years while retaining a deep harmony. Secondly,
you said the following: "If you turn back the clock forty years and substitute the word black for homosexual, you will be on the same, incorrect side of the social equity debate." Race and gender are different. Skin color and sexual gender
@MrMarinegold There is no documented, scientific evidence that supports the claims of your bible, particularly the so-called miracles. Jesus probably never lived; there is simply no non-biblical evidence supporting the Jesus myth. Prophetic records are not real, because prophets are also mythological characters.
Race and sexuality are both genetic traits. One does not choose to be gay any more than one chooses to have a particular skin color. I being gay is a choice, are you potentially gay?
@heathdwatts awww! There it is. The old "are you a closet homosexual" canard.
All credible historians believed Jesus lived. They may disagree on His divinity but they don't disagree that he lived. If they do, they are outside mainstream
academic studies. Gender is not a choice. Sexuality is a choice.
At this point will have to agree to disagree and move on. God Bless you and your family.
@MrMarinegold There is no proof for the existence of Jesus. The story of the character's life is filled with contradictions and there are no eye witness, peer account of him existing.
So, if sexuality is a choice, what makes you remain straight? Fear of an ancient god's wrath, or you aversion to sex with males. For me, it's the latter.
Stop blessing people. It's really offensive and silly. First, if there were a god, why would you have the power to ask it to bless anyone. Second, which god?
@heathdwatts God Bless you. May the Lord Jesus Christ give you wisdom, strength and power to overcome in this life. May He lead you, guide you, and manifest His love and grace to you and your family for a thousand generations.
God has provided a means to escape His wrath. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and confess with your mouth God has raised Him from the dead. I pray God will grant you mercy and forgiveness of sins. The same mercy and grace he showed me 22 years ago. God Bless you!!!!
@MrMarinegold That's funny, empty stuff. Why were you such a "sinner" 22 years ago? Did you actually commit a real crime, or did you commit a victimless crime of "sin"? There really is no such thing a sin. Do you follow the Old Testament literally? If so, we certainly should not be communicating via computer. You should be writing your messages to me on a stone table--NEVER ON THE SABBATH-and sending them through a donkey riding messenger. Sin is relative to the time in which we live.
@heathdwatts Dude, you so obviously have zero clue what you're talking about. To follow something "literally" means to understand the literary style, culture of the day and then the grammar. Your statement betrays an almost complete lack of any study. Take a couple or 3 years to study these things and then try to have a critique.
Also, I dig the fact that I can hear The Grateful Dead in the background, "Truckin'". So cool.
@MarkHarrellJr You need to consult a dictionary about the meaning of the word literally. Critiquing nonsense does not require three years of preparation. If a child says that 1+1=3, you correct the child. DeMar is like an ignorant and ostentatious child in his false beliefs and he needs to be corrected. The diploma mill, Whitefield Theological Seminary, where DeMar "earned" his PhD is a joke, as are his ideas.
You have implied or stated Gary Demar can't know what he is talking about because his Doctorate degree is from an unaccredited school in Florida you have labeled as a diploma mill without evidence or support so you have committed the ad hominem fallacy.

@heathdwatts When your first comment commits the ad hominem fallacy, you've already shown the weakness of your own position.

2. Prove that any god exists.
