  • such a clean hit that he immediately whipped his head around to look at the ref to see if he got caught...

  • what jmace said!

  • Brad Marchand approved.

  • How can anyone say this is a clean hit when there was a rule made against hits like these right after this happened. You can't hit someone like that. It's called clipping you fucking retards.

  • @AftComet Amen!

  • @AftComet

How can you say it's NOT a clean hit when there wasn't a rule against it until AFTER it happened?

  • @frazzzer8888 Just because there wasn't a rule specifically against it doesn't mean it wasn't a dirty hit.

  • Of course tucker skates right of the ice

  • IT WAS A CLEAN HIT !!!!

  • @607heavymetal if it was a clean hit, why didnt tucker do this every game? he had peca lined up to put his shoulder into peca's chest but chose to go after his knees. anyone who's played the game at a high level could never question this.

  • peca was never the same after this hit.

  • It was definitely a clean hit, Peca just got hurt on the play. He hit him above the knee and there's nothing wrong with it

  • Two things one, this ruined Peca's career and two, Tucker could have easily laid a solid shoulder to shoulder hit on Peca but instead decides to take out Peca's knees. How is that Clean?

  • @Mattlanders17 because hip checks are allowed in hockey?

  • @stefy71 I am not disagreeing with you that by NHL standards its a legal hit. Where I think its "dirty" is because you watch the hit, they way he moved in to peca to hit him, he easily could have laid a solid shoulder-to-shoulder hit on him. Instead Tucker chose to take peca out by the knees. That why I think it was dirty, rather than throwing a solid clean hit, tucker chose to throw a questionable hit.

  • @Mattlanders17 I disagree. How was it questionable? If peca had got up , there would be no one saying its a dirty hit. only because pecas ACL fluked and tore, are ignorant people saying its dirty. he didnt choose to "take peca out by the knees" he chose to deliever a hip check. absolutly 100% clean

  • wow....After he hit Peca, Tucker went to the bench so people wouldnt go after him

  • @MobbarleyOfBlackwater what how? He hit him at the knee pecs had fucking knee surgery after this completely dirty

  • @hskates121 this hit was clean. it sux peca got hurt, but that doest mean it was dirty. it was hip check. plain and simple. people get hurt from clean checks all the time

  • islanders had no chance back in the day

  • thats clean all you can say

  • @MobbarleyOfBlckwater lol how?

  • Classy. Boo the guy as he gets up. Ladies and gents, Leafs Nation, the only hockey club's shit that doesn't stink.

  • tucker was such a pussy, i hope he reads this, screw him

  • i freaken hate plays like this

  • @isles465 why man. that was a clean hip check. maybe Peca should keep his head up!

  • @TheElectricJamz ino it was clean but i hate hit wen people do hip checks especialy wen someone get hurt

  • Lol tucker what a guy

  • Too bad Peca was utter shit when he was on the Leafs - could have used the old Peca!

  • Vintage Darcy Tucker...except for the typical whining after the play. I have watched hockey for 40 years, Darcy is just about the biggest whiner ever. Sean Avery is close. Matthew Barnaby was pretty bad too. But Tucker has these psycho eyes...Peca was never the same after that hit. I've seen Tucker do worse though, this wasn't that bad.

  • I am not a fan of tucker but I don't see how this is that dirty. He went in for the hip check and the Peca didn't have his head on a swivel so he ate it.

  • darcy is the man!...peca is a great hockey player but a baby...the end of the clip tuckers just saying shit to him and peca looks like he's gonna cry

  • I hate Darcy Tucker. Sincerely. He's a piece of trash, and classless. Hopefully karma will be a bitch to him

  • this whole series was dirty

  • VEry dirty. He continued to go after him over a second after he dumps the puck, totally unecessary and it was at the knees, not a hip check, a clip. Dirty, ended the Isles season

  • Listen to the booing when he gets up, Typically classless Leafs fans.

  • @tryi2iwin Probably thought he was gonna kick their asses with a broken leg.... which he probably could have tbh

  • Perfectly clean hit. Good on you Darcy!

  • @CannibalChris1986 that was a blatently low hit

  • One of the dirtiest players in the league.Well he got the crap kicked out him in the next game.Peca was never the same type of player again after this hit.

  • Normally, I'd say this was a clean hit that turned out to be a freak accident. But, Tucker said in the media he was going to get Peca. This was a deliberate act, even if disguised as clean. Scott Stevens was no different.

  • Comment removed

  • Clean my ass. That was a knee-on-knee hit, something which was emphasized back in the early 2000s. Dirtiest play in the series, 1 of 2 dirty plays in that Game 5 (Gary Roberts cross-checking Kenny Jonsson into the boards, ending his season).

  • @islandblader bahhahaa what? are tuckers knees on his ass, you dumb fuck? this hit is identical to stevie y's 'check' on pronger in the playoffs, when he was basically trying not to be murdered coming over the blue line, but no one crucified him. just because its darcy doesnt mean its dirty

  • @dougliano - Let me tell you something. First of all, don't ever address me with those words again. Second, I don't give a flying fuck about who did it, the fact is- it was dirty. I didn't know much about Darcy Tucker before this play, but I have heard about his past. Do I justify Trevor Gillies BS? No. A dirty play, no matter what team it is, is a dirty play. And btw, Tucker boldly said that he was gonna get Peca. Well he did, put him out and became notorious @ Nassau for a few years.

  • It's just too easy to rhyme Tucker with a certain popular epithet. That said, this is one dastardly play.

  • 2:00 Peca's like "u mad bro?"

  • fuck tucker he was a whiny bitch during his time in toronto

  • This why Tucker never got any respect for other players.

  • Tucker told him he was gonna take him out... and he did. Lest we forget how dirty this series was, this was not the only incident.

  • *caught

  • his skate got a rut and his knee took a violent twist...hip checks don't blow out your knees.

  • @DeathWillBeSwift That was a chicken sh.. hit and anyone with any hockey experience will agree a hip check in that situation is cheap ,dirty and malicious oh and did I say chicken sh.. ?

  • @edantila

look at the replay and how peca's leg jerks violently. it was a clean hip check....had Peca not been injured, we wouldn't be talking about this right now.

  • too bad Harry Neale is a moron, sadly hes a commentator for the Sabres now and I have to listen to his genius remarks every night.

  • @RlsCool if you were peca you'd be on your ass crying like a little bitch...and even if you could fight Tucker would fuck your ass up..

  • Hip Check my ass your talking like were talking about Mats Sundin making this hit. It was Darcy frickin Tucker, one of the filthiest players in the last 30 years

  • @fct4nyi1970 it was clean dude. even the anouncers said so haha. give it up.

  • T(F)ucker

  • Peca got Tuck'd up.

  • Clean hit. Its called a hip check which is a lost art.

  • Comment removed

  • if i was peca i would come back and kick tuckers ass

  • i hate tucker

  • Aw. Back in 2002.

When EVERY player wasnt a bitch wearing a visor.

  • I think the title of this should be changed to "Peca's a whiney little baby who cant take a hit" and by the way that was as clean as it could get

  • @888DTK

Well, it was a clean hit, but he did tear his ACL on this (in other words, he's definitely seriously hurt.

  • a dangerous play thats designed to look clean and cause injuries while escaping injury yourself

    aka dirty

  • @hydr5 this wasn't exactly a dirty hit, i wouldn't say that was low...i see hits like this all the time that go uncalled. but the fact that peca got hurt magnified the situation. it was just awkward.

and serves peca right for admiring his pass up ice

  • @MajicPictures serves him right? He watches his pass and deserves to have his knee hit and injured. The hip check is meant for the HIP, not the KNEE.

If his knee was not hit, how was it injured? Peca didn't have a THIGH injury because his KNEE got hit. Watch the video, the hip of tucker comes down on top of the KNEE and you can see the knee take the hit. The knee is the JOINT AREA.

"The check blew out Peca's MCL and ACL on his left knee" [Wikipedia] Because he hit him in the THIGH?

  • @hydr5 well no he didn't deserve the injury, but if you're going to admire your pass you deserve to get decked.

i'm watching the same video you are, yea it was lower than the hip...but it wasn't a knee, but clearly the speed and momentum took out his whole leg, which you can see happen on impact. unfortunate injury, yes..but not illegal. although in today's game i don't know if hitting is legal period....

  • @MajicPictures its because of gutless plays and the instigator rule is what is wrong with the NHL.

  • For everybody thinking this is a knee-on-knee, look at the point of contact at 0:48 in the slo-mo. Tucker has his knees turned OUTWARD. It simply isn't a knee-on-knee hit. Tucker's hip makes contact with Peca's upper thigh, looks like.

It was a clean hit. Tucker may very well have intended to injure Peca, but it wasn't illegal or dirty. I'm as big a fan of Peca's as any Islanders fan was at the time, but I can't fault Tucker for just delivering a quality hit on a tough player.

  • It was a clean hit. Peca's skate just caught the ice, forcing his knee into an abnormal position and tearing his ligaments. The actual point of contact was Peca's hip, maybe his upper left thigh, but it wasn't a knee clip.

  • Honestly I don't think Tucker was good enough to aim a hip check at a knee specifically, he was just going in for a normal, clean hip check and it happened to turn out poorly.

  • As an islanders fan I think that was an amazing hit and peca shouldn't run his mouth cause he can't back his shit up he should collect himself off the ice and stop being a big pussy that was just a beautiful hip check.

  • As an Islanders fan it was not a knee on knee but it was intent to injure

  • tucker ftw

  • tough to tell if it was clean or dirty...i mean peca was favoring his one leg and it looked like tucker blatantly went for his knee. so i think dirty. what really bothers me is that mother fucker tucker the pussy ran to the bench after hitting peca because hes got no balls.

  • typical hip check

  • that was one of the dirtiest hits ive ever seen, not to mention tucker ran back to the bench right after as to not be seen by the refs and that "o did i do that " look on his facae right after... what a shitty person

  • Purely clean hit, it was also pay back for the Islanders running Sundin, I remember this like it was yesterday and remember Cherry even pointing it out when there was word that Sundin had an injured wrist, Cherry showed a clip of Peca elbowing the wrist after the play during a scrum he was clearly trying to get Sundin out of the line up it was obvious, CHerry's next words were look for redemtion on Peca and sure enough Peca got this hit, it was low but still clean one hell of a series though

  • @discjocky44 So its clean because it was a payback hit hmmm... an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind my friend tucker hasn't had the most clean career old news

  • clean hit.. leafs rock go leafs go

  • hahahaha we fucked up the islanders real good in this series.

  • @bboyemme lol horrible team

  • @yazzy613 islanders weren't that bad back then...

  • @scumatron oh yeah, i meant the leafs

  • @bboyemme You won a 7 game series in game 7 and took out 1 players for the series and 1 missed 2 games. Wouldn't say you messed them up real good. That be like me saying Steve Webb messed up the leafs big time. He did throw big hits but he didn't mess anyone up.

  • @bboyemme fukin duech

  • @baseballkidmw2 its spelled "douche" einstein

  • @bboyemme are u the grammar police

  • 100% clean

  • Tucker just retired.

    Good Riddance.

  • Tucker absolutely targeted Peca's knees and intentionally went low for the purpose of injuring him.

This is not a legal hit, its completely dirty. Leafs apologists can say all they want, it doesn't change the fact that its a terrible play. Its late, its low, its dirty. If he wanted to take Peca out of the play after he passed the puck he easily could have just bumped him straight into the boards, he had him lined up perfectly. Instead he went low to injure him. Tucker is garbage. Good riddance!

  • @dsl135 ok u have to remember tucker was like 25 yrs old and a hot head during that time. he mellowed out over the years and didnt throw anymore dirty hits but still had a lot of intesity. peca and tucker moved on and are friends so calm down. You're calling him garbage from a series where both teams threw many dirty hits.

  • @sukkkmyballs Being 25 years old has nothing to do with it. Being a hot head has nothing to do with it. That doesn't excuse the behavior. Tucker loved to throw dirty hits and act injured when he got hit to try to sell a penalty. I'm not saying he's the only guy, there's plenty like him. I don't respect those guys either and don't find them interesting or fun to watch. Hockey is a tough game, but there's no place for dirty players who run around trying to injure people.

  • Perfectly legal = three seconds after the puck was passed? How many Canadian dollars did the Maple Leafs fork over to the refs to make them look the other way?

  • @suburbanindie 3 seconds? the replay is in slow motion you stupid ass it was a clean hit so fuck off

  • The hit was probably legal, but that doesn't change that Darcy Tucker is a scumbag.

  • was intentional

  • I dunno man, a good hip check is when the puck carrier has good forward momentum and the defending player stands him up hip to hip. The puck carrier usually rolls over and his legs are in no real danger because of the momentum. On this hit, tucker is the one with the momentum and he comes in on an angle. Clearly tucker used his hop I'm not arguing that, but there was only one way for that hit to end and that was with an injury. Given the history they had, and Tucker's rep, one could argue it...

  • It looked like Tucker was targeting his knees when I see this.

  • Thats right for that pussy Peca.

  • i love how when tucker wants to fight him in the end, peca backs off, and doesn say anything back when tucker yells at him

  • @hcpspilakarb Why have a 25-30 goal scoring captain fight when a talentless goon like Eric Cairns or Steve Webb would gladly step in, and probably win? I think it was smart, and probably agitated the Maple Leafs further that he didn't do anything.

  • im sorry... that was a dirty hit

  • @7194eric That was a TEXTBOOK hip check. You can clearly see Tucker's hip hit directly at Peca's hip level. He didn't take out his knees or anything, just a perfect hit.

  • @vicusvita It was a dirty Knee on Knee hit!!

Hip check gimme a break!! BS!!

  • @nymets6986e Are you kidding me man? Look at Tuckers hip, his knee doesnt even touch Peca. You gotta calm down and get your eyes checked.

  • @vicusvita Yeah. Tucker's hip makes contact with Peca's upper thigh.. This is definitely not a 'knee-on-knee' hit. I don't think Tucker's intent was to injure Peca, just to keep the fire stoked between the two of them. They both played a really intense and hard game. I was never a fan of ether team, but I loved watching both these guys play. But for folks who don't like Tucker, they'll easily add this to their long list of reasons to hate him more.

  • @nymets6986e There was no contact with either players knee...

  • I like the cocky skate away. He must have a hard ass cause thats what he hit him with.

  • @nhlnflnba18414 This game was played in Toronto. Isles would never have empty seats at a playoff game cuz they don't happen that often.

  • @Bulkmaster27 oh my bad it is in toronto. this is very surprising.

  • @nhlnflnba18414 Game was in Toronta dumbass

  • @nyi1210 I just realized that after i posted the comment. I forgot to delete it

  • clean hit

  • clean hit

  • great hit

  • i miss crazy maniac darcy tucker

    what a pest

  • Hip to the knee. Tucker has threatened a few players that he would go after their knees...dirty rotten douchebag.

  • Are you guys seriously blind? He hits him with his hip. Leafs fan or not, Tucker doesn't knee him at all.

  • @doctorkong

Yeah. And Peca deserves it. After what he did on Selänne.

  • @doctorkong My friend I think your the blind one!!!!!!!!!!! He aimed for the knee on purpose on purpose to take him out!!!!!!!!!

Look at the replay as he approaches him he gets lower to take him out at the legs

  • knee on knee lol try hip check dumbass and it was a repayment for Peca breaking Sundins wrist during the same series

  • everyone needs to stop arguing with the retarded Leafs fans. they don't know any better. stop riling them all up. its been 43 years since they had anything to be happy about.

  • lffl93 you have no idea what you are talking about and you have no class. just like that piece of crap Darcy Tucker

  • Nobody does knee on knee hits like Tucker.

  • Late and low, not even close to a clean hit. Are these guys blind?

  • Bullshit, he got rid of the puck long before he got hit.

  • completely clean

  • Hip check.

  • @HolyHellPreacher Try Knee on Knee jackass!!!!!!

  • I miss Tucker

  • That was a clean hip check... The NHL is gotten so pussy, before those hits happened every game and no one gave shit about it. Just get up and keep playing. Stupid Peca sucks balls.

  • yes tucka! nice clean hip check for that pussy peca.

  • epic charlie horse

  • Corson and Tucker are the two players I've despised the most. Two dirty pieces of shit who thankfully have never won anything. Not a coincidence they are now "family"

  • @billyk28 Tucker still might win something. And this hit was legal, nothing wrong with it at all.

  • at the time it was legal but what he did is now called clipping and is one of the dirtiest things you can do.

  • @andywarhaul12 It is not one of the dirtiest things you can do. The clipping penalty is almost never called, but other than this incident, I have never seen an injury from it.

  • I think Tucker won the memorial cup in junior I could be wrong though.

  • ur not he did win the memorial cup

  • lol faggot,

tucker won the memorial cup 3 times when he was on kamloops

  • Oh wow, the Memorial Cup. I stand corrected. Every Stanley Cup and Gold Medal winner is jealous.

You don't wait 5 seconds after a guy passes to low bridge him, it's a double cheap shot.

And your parents are faggots, which is why they adopted you after your real parents didn't want to keep you.

  • oooh nice one faggot, darcy tucker is 5'9 180 lbs, doesnt wear a visor and still fights guys twice his size whether he wins or not

this was a clean hip check

  • i didnt see much wrong with that, he did hit him a bit low, but he hit him with the hip, it's not like he went knee on knee.

  • People like Darcy Tucker and Steve Downie do not deserve the honor of playing in the NHL. They should be in prison.

  • @jlaz89 believe it or not, that was a clean hit by tucker.

  • fuck you

  • ur retarded dumbass

u cant take hits, go play ur golf

  • man, the islanders got rapped that year in the playoffs by the leafs

  • Tucker got raped by Rutuu. Besides the leafs suck!

  • Leafs Fan your an idiot. Where is he trying to get out of the way. Your such a stupid homer - fucking punk.

  • clean hit...

  • What a douche bag Tucker is!!! I still hate this POS for this hit!!!

  • Classy fans there you've got in Toronto, booing an injured player.

  • you're damn right we do

  • It's one thing to hit someone, it's another thing to target their knee.

  • Tucker didn't take long hiding himself on the bench. he lowered himself enough to take a knee. He knew it.

  • Remember Peca's cheap elbow to Ohlund's face? What goes around comes around indeed.

  • Tucker is a dirty bastard... just ike Gilmour was. Leafs are a bunch of coward goofs. Their fans are even worse. 0-8 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Tucker got what was coming to him last night. What goes around comes around eh Darcy?

  • That was a bad result from a clean hit.

  • dirty cheap hit....

  • You have absolutely zero knowledge of hockey if you think thats a clean hit. Just because you use the shoulder doesn't mean its clean if you hit below the fucking waist.

  • You're a fucking idiot. You know nothing about hockey . shut the fuck up.

Peca seen it comming and tried to back, out of the way, causing his knees to straighten up. A cool breeze would have torn his ligaments at that point. Dufus.

  • You are retarded. Tucker could've laid Peca out with a shoulder to shoulder hit just as easily, but instead he decided to put his weight into Peca's knee. Who the hell hits like that that isn't a defenseman skating backwards?

  • haha you're one to talk. you like the leafs. darcy tucker is cheap, and pulled a low blow out of his ass. Peca wasn't looking, the play was on the other side of the ice. It was a late hit, and there really wasn't anything impressive about it.

  • Do you read what you write? You probably should, and maybe also take another look at the video. By no means was that an impressive hit.

  • Peca was never the same after this

  • that wasnt a dirty hit retards.

also, look at how crazy tucker looks.

also, look at blake hes on the islanders
