Magnificent! I just got out of a catholic grade school and now only go to mass on weekends, and i really miss the music from the Gather book. This is the best I have found. Keep it up!
Plumbersteve: No, I don't suggest that we sing dirges, merely that we examine what the Church has said regarding the music that is appropriate for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. I don't know about you, but I do not feel that I can know more than the Church does. And is "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name" a dirge? Is "Adoramus Te Christe" a dige?
"@JKirkLVNV so you suggest that we sing only dirges at church? is there no place for the celebration of what Christ's sacrifice meant for his people?" Also, I am not saying we have to sing dirges all the time. I am saying we should sing songs that show worship to God, NOT each other. Songs like this promote the celebration of us -come dance in the forrest, play in the field? NOT what I want to do at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Before or after Mass fine - not during.
"When did God give man the right to dictate what should be involved in a proper worship? " That would be when Jesus gave authority to Peter and his successors. The Church is allowed to write documents that set down guide lines as to what and should be used during the liturgy. If you want this stuff used - fine - but don't be disobedient to Authority because you like something. The Church outlines in her liturgical documents what can be used and what can't. All I am saying is follow those.
You sing this wonderfully, I do take issue though with calling this a "great" liturgical song. Chant is great. (Pride of place) This is great for praise and worship before or after Mass - it is a liturgical abuse during Mass. Guitars and tamborines are NOT sacred instuments as the Church states are to be used in Her liturgies.
@versolaltoblog1 Praise, ye, the LORD, God, in His Sanctuary, with the sounding of the trumpet, the harp and lyre, timbrel and dancing, the strings and pipe, the clash of cymbals, with RESOUNDING cymbals. When did God give man the right to dictate what should be involved in a proper worship?
Choir directors with instrumentalists take notice: not all the instruments come in at the same time or play the entire time! This is (one of) the thing(s) that makes this more interesting than when you do it at your church.
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass goes deeper than the word "celebration." It is a propitiatory sacrifice, the presentation in time (now) of the Eternal Sacrifice where the Holy One offered Himself for our sins. We step outside of time, as it were, and what happened at Calvary is made present before us. Would you sing this song at the foot of the Cross, in the midst of His Offering? I doubt it.
@JKirkLVNV Amen. I don't even dislike this song, and he performs it well. But it is not liturgical music. It is praise music, and belongs in the realm of private devotion.
You might look into the documents of the Church on the music that is appropriate for Her liturgies. The Second Vatican Council had a great deal to say, as have subsequent popes, particularly Pope Benedict. God bless.
is there any way you can send me the chords you used for this song. i'm playing it for my school's choir and i cant find chords anywhere. :] please and thank you.

Nice to see this.
When I first started on YouTube, I couldn't find Glory and Praise stuff to save my life.
Now we've got you playing for a whole new generation.
