  • this is one of my favorite songs to listen to when it's raining.

  • And I worry about you, why ? Because you want me to...... This is quite possibly my favourite lines in a song ever.... Beautiful song !!!!

  • 8 people spent too much time on the other side

  • Songwriting supremo! Beautiful, sad song

  • i was there. he was coked off his face. still the best gig i've ever seen.

  • Why does he stop midway??

  • love this song.. its so pretty =)

  • This is my favorite song <3.

  • I think strawberry wine mean means a break from depresion (drugs)??? awesome song. the best songwriter

  • this guy is something else

  • "why because you want me to"

ryan if you didnt turn out so many of the best songs i have ever heard I might pick this is the best song I have ever heard... maybe it's just the strawberry wine talking tonight;)

  • ...ok i lied.... but snooty chardonnay didnt have that same angsty tone

  • Haha, I like you. But then you like Ryan Adams so I would anyway.

  • San FranciisCooo Bayyyy! lol

  • bos78 are you kidding? A twelve year old? That's hilarious. There are many songs that only the person who wrote it knows the meaning behind it. In my book that only makes the song more interesting.

  • superb!

  • this is very reminiscent of neil young, in a good way. great performance.

  • this song is about lots of people and characters all connected by some idea of what 'strawberry wine' is. i think its essentially about music and songwriting in a weird kind of way. this is as good a song as ryan has ever written i think. what a tune.

'can you have any famous last words, if you're somebody nobody knows?' brilliant

  • this is ryan's 'desolation row'

  • What is this song about? It doesn't make sense to me and it sounds sort of like something a 12 year old would write. Its hard to believe the same person who wrote Meadowlake Street and I Taught Myself To Grow Old wrote this.

  • this song is about strawberry wine. and different people. you asking "what is this song about?" is like asking what queens of the stone age's song "no one knows" is about. no one knows. who cares. it's a fucking song. could you write better lyrics?

  • I tried to write songs when I was in junior high and now they sound really silly like this one. So no, I couldn't write better lyrics, but Ryan Adams can. He has written tons of amazing lyrics, I just think this isn't his best. I don't think its bad really, I've listen to this album a thousand times already.

  • the first song on 29 reminds me of "Truckin" from the Greatful Dead....

  • @cerpinvismund yeah. ryan pretty much took truckin' and rewrote the lyrics to it. i don't think he'd deny it either.

  • Your insane

  • "don't spend too much time on the other side"

It's actually a very well-written song. Partially about spending too much time on the other side of the bar. About losing your soul to disillusionment and false notions of happiness. With several narratives going along at once. I don't think any twelve year old could write anything close to as beautiful/sad/powerful as this song. Actually, I don't understand why you'd pick on this song of all, it's one of my favorites of his.

  • why did he stop in the middle of the song?

  • Good question. I can't actually remember for sure, but I think he was asking the sound tech to turn down the monitor.

  • oh, ok. thanks. isn't this song great?

  • fabulous fabulousness....

  • .. they're two different people

  • one of the best lyrics ever written, like a very well written poem, one of my favourites :D

  • was a great gig great night special hard rock cafe madness

  • oh man, been trying to find a youtube video of this that has good sound quality, this is probably the best one! One of the Ryan's best work, and excellent intro in this one.

  • i thought i was by a girl

  • Nope his song.

  • that's a whole different song with same title by: Deanna Carter

  • i LOVE that version

  • me too soul mates?

  • yes. :)

  • This is my favorite song <3.

  • this is without a doubt the best song of all time!!

  • says you!

  • Without a doubt agreed man

  • this is one of my favourite songs of his

& well generally, i find myself humming it all the time. i too would love to see him, i was out of the country last time he came near me! :(

  • Great song. I was at this gig, he was off his trolley on some sort of chemical and played only bout ten songs. Still amazing show though.

  • I saw this gig and thoufght it was amazing! Ryan adams is a true poet :0)

  • This is definitely one of the best songs written in the 21's century....

  • best song ever by the best songwriter ever

  • beautiful.just super authentic and honest.

  • :-)

  • He fell into a life of riverboating crime,

he's the man you see in prison if you want strawberry wine.

  • I would die to see him !

  • i was at this show it was awsome thanks for sharing this file i can now remember exactly when this show was i much prefered it to when he played songs nobody knew in birmingham later that year with the cardinals

  • my favorite!
