How sad the end for a Grand old Lady of the Sea!, Far better that she be scuttled in mid Atlantic, than to end up in the hands of the ilk of Dubai! What a tragedy!
I suppose everybody will remember Rod Stewarts hit song, Your In My Heart, well I think that song befits this gracious lady of the sea. As we say in Scotland, Lang May Her Lum Reek, which means I hope she lives forever, but not in the Middle East.
British ships are always the best. You can see the hint of 'Titanic' in the design from the old Cunard White Star combined company. Same with the QM2.
Her profile was a welocome break from all the Carnival clones floating around out there. Inside she had small pockets of originality but she had been so Carnivalized on the inside she was already on a come down from her original design intent.
This is just one incredible piece of film footage! Beautiful shots of the grand lady, and a gorgeous sunset to keep her company! Fantastic video work! I have been on this liner...in fact, I even got to tour the bridge with the then-assigned Captain, Robin Woodall. I presented him with a pastel painting of the QE2... I wonder if it still hangs in the captain's cabin on board?
Wow, thanks heaps! It would have been great to go on her, and to tour the bridge. You're really lucky. Maybe when they turn her into a floating hotel your painting will be there too - be great to see it. :)
She's an amazing ship and had a good run. I'm just really glad that isn't going to be scrapped. :) Wow, this is an amazing vid! I wish ocean liners went by here, but I'm in Michigan... We get freightors. But they're still ships! ^^ Thank you so much for posting this, I loved it!!! XD
Imagine urself as the QE2 and ur leaving port and you have all these tugs and patrol sightseeing boats around you and you say to yourself "OOOOi feel special!" :P

Thank you for sharing. I was aboard during her final Australian departure. She was an amazing ship the likes of which we will never see again.
