  • Thats a nice mini. May i suggest moving the screen to the foward edge of the machine out of the splash and chip zone, and into an easy to reach and read area.

    I've tried to look for more info but there is nothing more than these videos, not even web site, or e-mail answer (I sent an e-mail months ago).

  • Beautiful work Mr. Decaussin.... I have built my own CNC Milling drilling machine and I am VERY interested in your toolchanger design. My machine is R8 with a Sensorless vector drive as well and I am designing my own toolchanger. I wonder if you would not mind elaborating some on that tooling setup and the spindle. IS this a custom built spindle or is it still R8 taper and is that an Cat40 toolholder that has been modified? Again very nice work and incidentally Fadals are my favorite cncs....

    Spindle is a standard R8 spindle. A ring pressed on the spindle has the keys.

    In the straight area of the spindle the draw bar mechanism resides. The tools use the R8 taper with a pull stud . The V flange is located .100 below the large diameter of the taper. Im in the process of machining 50 of each size. Including

    collet chuck and taping chuck that has float.

    Just finished a scratch build I call the UMC10 Linear ways , is a scaled copy

  • Wonderful, hope you are kind enough to make a video of it. So the toolholders are completely homemade then? Or were you able to take off the shelf cat40 and modify, possibly r8 and modify? This looks like a great setup. Does this ring you speak of have the taper in it as well? Nice work.... BTW, I am a hobbyist/ going to start making some money with CNC machining and I am seriously considering a VMC15. Is that what is in the background in the videos? Peace

  • Really great machine. Great to see what a professional machine builder can do when they put their mind to it. The design and workmanship are really spectacular. In looking at what you've done, I can't imagine that these machines won't fly out the door at $10K. I have converted my gearhead mill drill to CNC without a toolchanger, vector drive or enclosure and probably have $5K in the conversion (w/out my labor)- so I think you are providing incredible value here. Thanks for the great videos!

  • Mr. David de Caussin I really like your machine and it is right what I needed, unfortunately I have my budget empity already, because I bought another one (mikini 1610L). I want to get one of your machines as soon as I recorver the investment.

  • Your right, that's a real problem with a machine this size. You can get a Fadal with 80 in travel for 15K, but you can't get in your your garage. Also parts and service cost an arm and leg.

  • 10K ?? i can get a 3 year old machine with MUCH more functionality than this for 10k....maybe 5, or 6

    I have two machines ready to go. One with the full sheetmetal, the other

    with out the sheet metal. They both come with ten tools. Price for machine with full sheet metal is $10,000 FOB. Other machine is $8,500.00. Both machines are closed loop servo drives. Rapid travel is 300 IPM.

  • That looks fantastic, I wish there was something on the market like this - the size of a Tormach, but with the enclosure and automation of a full size VMC. I loved your lathe too - hopefully something like both of these projects becomes a saleable product soon.

    Of couse it would need to be half the price of a new small HAAS!
