  • men dont faint but hearing hank, i swoon! Lovely song and well sung!

  • Don't care who's singing! That is one cool suit Hank has on!!!

  • I was in Germany and didn't have a really special fraulein. I did have a couple of acquaintances that I spent some time with and I often think about them, but they were way too pretty for this plain ole country boy to get serious with.

  • I agree, this is Bobby Helms.

  • This is Bobby Helms singing here. I wore my record out back in 1973 in Germany. I went back in 1978 and it was great over there. Our daughter was born in Germany. This song brings back so many memory's. Thanks for posting it.

  • WRITTEN BY. LAWTON WILLIAMS IN 1957

  • This was a big hit at Fort Bliss,El Paso,Texas back in summer of 1957.We didnt have frauleins;but the girls in Juarez,Mexico werent that bad at all.

  • @jpoweresq ps-this definitely is Buddy HELMS

  • Love this song i remember back in 1962 when I was in Germany the little frauleins' didnt know how to shave their underarms or their legs and deoderant was taboo, have things changed or are they still in the dark ages?

  • @sunrecords56 An awful lot of GIs loved those girls from the (supposed) dark ages. The American way isn't the only way.

  • Agree, this does sound like Bobby Helms.

  • THIS IS IN FACT "BOBBY HELMS" AND NOT HANK LOCKLIN ! JUST TO INFORM EVERYONE!

  • Not Hank..

  • This is Bobby! Take it from a former GI who spent many nickles in the juke boxes in Germany.

  • Did alittle research online and it looks like both did it. I think this version is Hank. Most people tell me this version is Bobby.

  • @academic51 This Is Bobby Helms NOT Hank Locklin

  • @Hillbilly4994 You are right!!!! I would know Bobby Helms voice anywhere. When stationed in Germany in 56 and 57 it was played in the cafateria, the club and the german clubs around the bases. It was a big hit in 1957 and a lot of us old guys and some young ones still love it. I don't think Hank Locklin would appreciate this mistake either. Fraulein is Bobby Helms signiture song No one can sing it like bobby Helms or as good.

  • yes this is hank locklin, but bobby helms sings also good, i listening this song from Faron Young, he sounds like bobby helms

  • Applaud, Applaud, Applaud, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It is Bobby Helms but it is still a country classic for those of us who served in Germany.

  • My Daddy taught me how to waltz to this song. While we danced he would sing it to me. Love and miss you Daddy!!! We're still dancing in my heart :O)

  • Bobby Helms definitely.

    Period.

  • Sorry, this is Bobby Helms, not an opinion, a fact

  • Something wrong here...not Hank...!!!

  • Of course this is Hank Locklin. This is the first time I remember hearing his version. I didn't think anybody could sing Fraulein as good as Bobby Helms. I was wrong. No offence to Bobby Helms. Both are great artists.

  • @webbduckfoot Hank definitely

  • Awesome!! One of my fave girlhood songs! :*)))

  • sounds almost like bobby helms if not then very good 5*****

  • Bobby Helms. Not Hank Locklin.

  • man I really miss this old country Wish it would come back to the airwaves again .Brings back good memories

  • This is Bobby Helms, not Hank.

  • Wow. I have the hank locklin version and listen to the bobby helms version beside it. Damn all difference. My father was a big hank fan and I grew up listening to him. My father saw him many times when Hank toured Ireland in the 60s & 70s . I bought his hits album with this song and also his album Irish songs country style as a present for my Da. Great voice.

  • Thanx so very much for posting this song.It means so very much to me. = D
