Awesome looking gun, but, yeah, I wouldn't buy it (i'm just a average dude, so sue me) cus of that stupid name. BTW, how is a .357 snub considered a woman's gun?
Well.. it's called Ladysmith for a reason. Originally it was made for woman because they have smaller hands (that was at least the idea) and I supposed they wanted to make that clear by engraving the gun's name on the gun.
Honestly, if you're a guy and want it, don't let it bother you. A lot of guys give their big manly guns female first name anyways.
Just call your Ladysmith Lady Betsie instead of just plain Betsie. :P
I think I'm going to get one of these, my reputation be damned. I have just one question though. Is the ejector long enough to reliably eject all the cartridges every time, or does this thing partially eject?
I have a Lady Smith and it is too heavy to carry concealed. Other than that, it's a great gun. The grip is very pretty but too slippery. Add a nice Crimson Trace laser grip to it. I wish it was hammerless, too, for concealed carry.

My husband presented me with the Lady Smith last week for our anniversary. Nothing says "I love you" like a larger firearm, I always say. I asked him if he would ever use it since it has the engraving. He responded, "That's my kind of woman. Of course, I would." He is a a retired U.S. Army artilleryman. Since I'm a granny, my wrists prefer shooting the .38's, but I had no problem firing the .357's on the range this morning.
I held this gun in the store ,was gonna buy it ...and then I saw "lady smith" and handed it back. S&W would definitly sell more of these if they removed that nonsense.
This is a high recoil gun with full power heavy grain loads. I think it's much more of a ccw than a "ladys" gun.
Now S&W started making a Model 60 professional series. For the same price or less you get a tritium front sight, and adjustable rear sight. Plus a tapered barrel. It also has a nice laminated wood grip that feels comfortable but is still easily concealable. Check out the SKU #178013
Smith and wesson are a bunch of assholes. They really overprice their guns. Their M&P's are $900 and up, and their basic 22 Revolver is $600. this is why I have so much respect for glock, as great as glocks are, you don't get screwed by the company and they keep their prices low.
i own a ladysmith, picked it up because it felt like it was smooth and buttery right out of the box. decent pistol, I would not shoot full 357 loads out of it all day, because your hand starts to sting after a while. other than that, its awesome!
I am not sure but I could be wrong but I think Smith & Wesson made the Lady Smith in honor Annie Okely. I do know that Dale Evens CowGirl actor used the Lady Smith in her movies.
Great review as always. I have the S&W 36 and I love it.I think they made a mistake engraving Lady smith on there.Your right a lot of guys would buy it if it didn't have that on it. 5*s.
@bill13442 LOL, hell I saw one the other day at a gun show. If it was in my price range I would have bought it right then and there lol. Besides the bad guy won't know it says lady smith on it LMAO.
the wood handle looks good it appears to be longer as you get 3 fingers on it and 2 on the pink i know nothing about guns but looks like a good grip for a small gun i would hate having half my hand hanging off
good observation, I don't think i mentioned it in the video, but you are correct, the grip is longer, and that means more comfortable, and more accurate (ideally)
Although having just a few fingers on a gun isn't a bad thing all the time.. it's all about practice

$700 for that little thing...? Are they crazy...!
I could buy a Glock 19 with 2 spare mags and have change left over.....LOL
My choice for a snubby-buddy is the Charter Arms "Off Duty",,,same well made gun at around $200, or less used, in good condition at a gun show.
S&W makes nice guns, but like Harley Davidson, they are over rated and over priced.

one question can you always fire .38 ammo in a .357 gun? and can you fire a .357 in a .38? thx in advance
darkarchon777 1 year ago
@darkarchon777
Always ok to shoot .38 in a .357..
Never OK to shoot .357 in a .38
The good news is a .357 won't fit into a .38
GunWebsites 1 year ago
@GunWebsites You should be careful with the older .38s you can chamber .357 in some of them. Im talking ones made around the turn of the century

Marketing for sales to women. It's small, classy, pretty, and deadly.
I get to shoot one of these a few times a year. It rolls back so smoothly when it fires you have no discomfort in shooting 357 magnums.
It's quite a beauty.

Yes, these are very durable firearms, can be used a lot and still remain in working condition for many years

The .357 is probably best shot with .38spl ammo for training and .357 for carry to cut down on wear and tear.

Single/double action?
Fytox2 2 years ago
yes.
1cme1 2 years ago
Sorry, I just assumed that part..
Modern revolvers like this that have a cylinder that opens to the left side of the frame are just about all Double Action
Single action typically load one round at a time from the right side of the frame

Ah alright, wasnt sure Thank you very much
