hey dumbo(s), the ratio of the moon to sun circumference is not off, annular eclipses depend on the distance between earth and moon, that's why it does not totally cover the sun, yes, this might be fake, but explain the clouds. heh.

When there's an eclipse of any kind it can only be viewed from a narrow strip of locations where the perspective and timing is right. So, it's okay that you didn't know about it. Solar eclipses happen about one or two times a year.

annular eclipse is when the sun and the moon are exactly in line.Annulus is the bright ring surrounding the sun.This is as a result of the moon is smaller than the sun!Hence, solar eclipse is a misnomer.Good question!thanks!

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the sun and the moon appear in an exact line with Earth, however unlike in a total solar eclipse, when the sun and the moon display the same angular size and therefore the sun is completely eclipsed, the moon's angular diameter is smaller than that of the sun. You can only see the eclipse if you use filters, or if there are clouds blocking the sun because the Sun is almost as bright even at maximum obscuration.
