  • It's kind of a tragic song isn't it? It's starts off very beautifully, then crescendos into an epic climax, and then it feels like it falls apart, returns to nothing, and starts back up again.

  • You know what?Screw CoD,Gears of War and Halo.I prefer a thousands times Actraiser than any piece of shit that has come,I want a Actraiser for 360,Wii(or Wii u)and PS3 and don't tell shit like:"We're not gonna make a Actraiser game because that's property of Square Enix..."Do that and I'll hate FF forever...

  • back in the day when the japanese knew what they were doing...

  • @IauthenticI Yes, before all anime became moon-eyed girls in school outfits being attacked by tentacles!

  • I am a big fan of orchestras and arrangements for video games. I do not care too much for chiptune or MIDI-sequenced music, as I find them overrated due to nostalgia. I recently attended the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert in Atlanta, Georgia (earlier this year). It is the second time I attended a Final Fantasy concert. I previously attended the Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy concert in the same venue six years ago.

  • you know is it just me or the begining part of the orchestral version of fillmore at 0:29 to 0:38 almost sound like the very begining part of this is holloween from the nightmare before christmas soundtrack composed by danny elfman because somehow both of the songs at the very begining had the same instrumentation and rythem anyone notice that

  • I never played this game before despite having a SNES as a kid.

So many good SNES games and I only played a handful of them.

    So many wasted opportunities.

  • @TheJboy88 I'm lucky. I hit on most of the great SNES games. Only big misses were on Earthbound, Actraiser and a few others.

You ought to check out Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Its one of a few Uematsu did not compose. The music in that game kept me up at night and was basically the only reason I played. Loved the battle theme, town themes, BOSS THEME.

I can so relate though, these games have such a different kind of effect on you as a child.

  • @DPBrandon Funny you should mention that one.

Mystic Quest was one of the handful of games I actually played.

  • Sounds better on guitar

  • Not bad but too sleepy imo. Could have been a lot better.

  • This is the most epic thing I've heard in a while.

  • i have a question,Did Yuzo Koshiro arrange this track or was it another group of composers who did this arrangement..did Yuzo Direct and arrange this version

  • @Chepito2846 As far as I know, Kaoru Wada orchestrated and conducted it. Koshiro composed it.

  • Eargasm! They need to remake this game. It was so underrated when it came out

  • I haven't even really ever played Actraiser but still love this album.

  • used to have this cd - sold it many a year back

  • OMFG, THIS IS AMAZING! I am a nut about Actraiser. Brings back memories of wasting the summer away playing snes for hours..

  • This is wonderful. It just shows how the music theory behind the music is there.

  • No funky slap bass though. Ah well...

  • I have never been a fan of orchestras for video-games. Chip-tunes just plain sounds better. And in this case, as long as it doesn't have THE KICKASS BASS THAT MADE IT BADASSNESS IN THE SNES VERSION IT SUCKS!!!!!

  • WOW amazing .....!!

  • I've just only discovered this! and its amazing!

  • I literally just came a produced about a quart of nostalgic jizz..........nostaljizz

  • fuuta guele a weed.. nos la puñetaeamos biend banda mats?

  • At the risk of getting negged into oblivion, I've got to say I just don't like this take on the original. Where the MIDI version on the SNES was driving and forceful, this one is... well, it's just kind of there.

  • I know what you mean. This is a lot slower and less dynamic, in a way.

But I like this one more because it has a deeper and more modest sound to it.

  • SNES =/= MIDI

    Just letting you know.

  • SNES used midi, but it had its own instruments, and could be modified by the chips on the cartridge itself. It had really good, adaptable midi, which is entirely doable, but people tend to prefer things that sound the same where ever you play them, (mp3, wav, etc.)

SNES could have the best of both, because the hardware was the same.

  • @daveincognito

I agree, this is kind of boring.

  • @daveincognito Needs more organ.

  • @daveincognito Yeah it lacks the same sound that's for sure. But I love this as a symphony.

  • @daveincognito Yeah, while I do like this rendition of it, I'd prefer to hear a faster version with organ, slap bass, and maybe some double-kicks thrown in :-p There are a few Actraiser/Actraiser 2 tunes I could envision being "metalled up" a little.

  • Well it's good, but, part of the awesome thing about the OST was how it had a baroque style with awesome percussion . . . so where's the percussion? :(

    Yes, it's awesome anyway.

  • its Just so Epic and wonderfull!

  • marvelous !!!!!

  • Absolutely amazing! Anyone know a good techno remix of this track?

  • YOur problem is you're looking for Good techno.

I kid. Nah, I haven't heard any yet. You check OCRemix?

  • I get chills from listening to this. Freaking amazing.

  • Ma favourite track!

  • I've never played the game, but the soundtrack is really awesome. Even the SNES version was good (within the limitations of the console), the composition itself is amazing

  • never get tired of this..this is one of the VERY BEST game compositions EVER!!!

  • Bravo! I love this version!

  • thanks great Yuzo Koshiro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aw, not as good as the SNES version. Like, what you hear in this just sounds too normal I guess. Like, its supposed to sound this way and these are the type of notes those instruments are supposed to play. On SNES, theres percussion, its nostalgic, intense, and not overly dramatic, and that made it more dramatic in its own way.

  • it's more sped up as well, which i think makes it better. I liek the SNES version better, but this one is good too ^^

  • That's like saying you prefer the sound of the Manualist's version of the Trooper to the original version by Iron Maiden.

  • Damn this game kicked ass, best music on SNES along with Chrono Trigger and FF6 in my opinion

  • I'm agree with you, chrono trigger's music also kicks ass ;)

  • I agree, Koshiro's work is amazing!

I actually met Uematsu and Mitsuda (FF and CT composers) in Chicago during the 1st ever Play: Videogame Symphony concert :).

  • #2

but RPG fans don't run dat shi- they noticed this and the game flopped cuz RPG fans are smart - they saw this and didn't buy that shi- but then the producers didn't sell it great so then in my opinion probably couldn't convince the game companies to make a 3rd one - dude I would love to see a 3rd one on the Wii or other system - and have them do it real act style - dudes speak up if you want eventually they will have no choice but to listen - peace dudes Bjon

  • you know, i used to hate this version, but it's starting to grow on me. i guess i just liked the original so much that i couldn't handle it differently. hehe ;)

  • Brings back so many memories.

  • an awesome game, and this song.... inviting to the greatest battle: good vs evil, as god vs lucifer.

    SONG OF HOPE

  • Yuzo Koshiro is my video game music idol; along with Nobou Uematsu and Daisuke Ishiwatari!

  • Can somebody upload the full album on a blog or something? :)

  • galbadia hotel or vid to mp3 . com

  • Actraiser was a snes classic, innovative and wicked music..part 2 was dog vomit

  • lol I was just voicing my opinion as you did about me..well done faceless nobody of cyberspace

  • I disagree.

You shouldn't say it's dog vomit, just say you think it was bad... And the OTHER people who disagree with you shouldn't swear either!

  • Act Raiser 2 was not the best game of the SNES library,I prefered the 1st one. The town building and exploration took it beyond a mere hack and slash side scroller. Taking those 2 elements out of the sequel made it well..already explored territory format wise. I don't expect anyone to share my opinion but that's my 2 cents.

  • you are right I gt the 2nd one and as soon as knowing you could even build towns I thought the game makers for taking that away in essence from that point on destroyed the series, the gae probably flopped and the producers didn't take any chaces to make more, so if they would have kept the town building then probably today actraier mught be one of the best running sequels cuz no rpgs now since then do what Actraiser 1 did, even they try, the magic, Actraiser had the magic...

  • "I gt the 2nd one and as soon as knowing you could even build towns I thought "

... I'm confused... did you think the 2nd game had towns, or not?

  • dude i wrote wrong sorry dude, i meant that when I got the 2nd one i thought the town building option was in that one too but it was taken out - you see the producers are stupid - RPG fans are like no other - their are RPG dudes till the end - they probably thought since Act 1 was so good that they would make another one just with fighting so it would be easier to make and cost less money and time - ....

  • Ah, gotcha!

Yeah I was surprised Actraiser 2 didn't have the town/RPG parts. They could have made an entire game kind of like SimCity just from those parts!

Actraiser also has *amazing* graphics for the time -- it was one of the first SNES games. I think, after Super Mario World, it was the first SNES game I saw in Nintendo Power before the SNES came out. I was pretty amazed.

  • @bloodsling you are completely correct.

  • @bloodsling Opinion shared.

  • @bloodsling I agree entirely.

  • @bloodsling Actually, that's the popular opinion, and one I agree with. ActRaiser 2 also struggled with very awkward controls.

  • omfg one of the best sounds in 16bit history in symphonic version. thx for upload!!

  • Man, this version is AMAZING!!!!!

One of the best instumentals i've ever heard!!!!!

  • Oh, this brings back memories. Fillmore's musical scores, at least for act 1, were my favorite in the game. This makes it sound 10 times better than before!

  • HOLY FUCK i didnt know this existed!!!!!!!0_O

  • this is so awesome...the game had some of the best music in video games....

  • I love the fugue in the beginning after the chord the strings tremolo on. It's fugue-ish anyway. Lovely use of counter point.

  • Awesome music. Where is ActRaiser 3?!

  • Beautiful. This game takes me back. Keep em coming. Thank you.

  • What is the exact name of this album? But more importantly, can I buy it from anywhere?

It's been said so many times, but it deserves the praise, beautiful game and music. Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • "Actraiser Symphonic Suite". Sorry, I'm not sure what that is in the original Japanese.

About the only place you are likely to find the album, is Ebay, in upwards of $500.

  • Yep... I just realized there is no where to find it. *sigh* Stupid millenium.

  • fuck, that's expensive!

  • masterpiece

  • It's an incredible game with an incredible soundtrack. And the symphony tracks here give it a nice sound. You're very lucky to own one of these records, if you do have one.

Is there any way you could upload them all somewhere as MP3s, that I could download? They wouldn't be used for my own (or anyone else's) profit, I can assure you.

    Thanks,

    Andrew O

  • try galbadia hotel

  • More!!! Especially the first action level of Northwall.

  • I'll be uploading more in the coming days.
