  • "I'm a 'zit'! Get it?!"

  • This takes me back to the climate in Chicago when this came out. Mr. Cooked being a Native Chicagoan and my family as well...it was just a cool time. He was our Hometown Hero who made it good. Mr. Cooke's brother LC used to date my sister's friend who lived next door, we were busy jumping 'double dutch' , our friends were cool and our parents enjoying life too. I still miss this man and those beautiful times. .

  • i rememeber this going up the highways with my dad good times

  • @Biggbuzy1 I listened to this song again today. I try and keep up with all the oldies.

This song is just a cut above all the rest. I close my eyes and drift away. It is truly amazing. It is one of my Top Ten songs of all time.

    Thank you for listening.

    S CARINO

  • when i was a kid our music was recorded on 45 rpm vinyl. my record collection consisted of a lot of these records. for the love of me i couldn't find this song. my cousin who lived in ottawa ontario heard about my plight and found it and sent it to me. cost me 99 cents. how times have changed.

  • Maybe there is a God.

  • This tune will always remind me of Animal House.

  • Sigh...one day I hope to be such a songwriter.

  • @scrobblejones I posted this song.....When I first started my channel....the first music I put on was Sam's music.

There would be nobody else I would have begun my channel with...

Sam Cooke was the finest singer.

Thank you for tuning in. S CARINO

  • @scrobblejones education is pretty dern important. dont go around telling yourself that its not

  • This is the music of my childhood.... and I'm only 17. I was blessed to be surrounded by people with great taste in music :) lol. This really brings back some memories. *sigh*

  • @kaity6494 glad you can appreciate that...I did the same for my daughter, now 25 and she has thanked me many times for it. She actually bought an old school record player and some vinyl records...Sam Cooke being one. Makes me feel good to pass on good art and know that it's appreciated and treasured as it should be. Pass it On;-)

  • one person is not having a wonderful love life

  • How could you dislike this song??? ITS A CLASSIC!!!

  • It is incredible that such a great song made it only to #12 on the chart, but it proves how much there was great music in those days. This song is a classic nonetheless.

  • (: love this song !

  • People seemed to be so much more into the music or something. What a wonderful song.

  • Always loved this song, first heard by Herman's Hermits! Sharing it w/my FB school group. ♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸~*♥*~¸¸.•*¨*•♫ ♪

  • we lost sam much to early. good to know his music atill lives on after all these years ,before all the crap called music now. now country is the last bastion of decent music. thanks for posting this.

  • @rte66byhd

There is still good music out there...of the small, small, amount you as one person could have even heard, i'm sure there are some besides country that are good.

  • @aquabatschea There is, it all depends on your outlook on music. For me, I think The Fray and Coldplay make really good music, the can get their points across, with out all the "negative" (from what a lot of people consider it). Music isn't bad, it isn't good either, it's someones opinion on something, and we as the world decide if it "good" or not. :)

  • One of my favorite songs from the 60's.

  • Good old school... What a wonderful memory.

  • AWESOME SONG!!!!

  • tout simplement majestueux ;)

  • I took everything except French. I took Spanish. I still have my slide rule.

  • This is when music was nothing more than an uplifting experience, back before all the anger and negativity in todays music. This song came out before I was born, but, my father used to play these songs for me and my brother when we were kids and I just love them.

  • @mikerules666 there's always been anger in music, even back then. don't believe me? look up "Fire" by Crazy World of Arthur Brown(1968), "American Woman" by the Guess Who(1970), and also keep in mind it's not a compliment to say most music back then had the same feel. "angry" music has evolved like the rest of it. if music didn't evolve, 60s music would have nvr come into existence. It would still be blowing through a dead bull's horn. and banging on drums made of animal skin...

  • @mikerules666 dont forget about the sex. there's a lot of sex in today's music. but i'm sure that sammy coke got his fair share of head in his day

  • @pooponarail25 You got that right. He saw more ass than a handler at a donkey ranch. LOL :D

  • @mikerules666 more pussy than tweety bird

  • back when music was good

  • truly special song

  • What a wonderful SONG!!!!!
