Does this mean that Max is being raised by Hayley & Mateo? I thought that his mother & Mateo's 1st wife, Raquel had moved with him to Texas back in the day. It is possible though that Raquel & Max moved to LA though. It was said that the boy lives in LA.

@DreamBoatEyes Perhaps something happened to Raquel several years ago? Perhaps she died and her death really affected Max in a negative way that made him rebel a lot. It makes sense to me.
