I dunno' Trade. I believe yours came out when I was a senior in '63, maybe it came out in '62; regardless, when this version came out I was overseas and this is the first time I've heard it. Your version reminds me of Nola Lee S back in '61. Yep, this song is soooo true. There's always that one flame that just will never go out (sigh).
You know what, I really like this version much better than my original Billboard chart record that reached top 30 nationally. I'd love to meet these guys....., are they still in the music business....??? Regards, Trade. PS, hey guys, please listen to my "COME BACK TO NEW YORK CITY"....!!!
I have no idea who these guys even were, but i'm betting this was their only record, great as it is. By the way, Trade, I've got another one of yours to get posted sometime in the next few days...it will be a real blast from the past, i'm sure!
I gotta disagree!!! I still like your original (not that there's anything wrong with this version). But i admit i thought the tuba was a little weird (that is a tuba, right?).
@TradeMartin Trade your the best, but were you drinking when you wrote this comment? This is a great version, but, I have to disagree with you, your 62 version is the killer.
I wouldn't say MUCH better, but it also depends on if youre hearing the original mono single version or the stereo mix, missing his 2nd vocal overdub!
What was the title to the "A" side? Release would appear about Dec '68. Seems to cling to that Dion(Heartbreakng Girlfriend genre). Thank you.

Nice, easy going sound. I agree, I like this better than Trade Martin. I wish Atlantic would have pushed this.
