Thanks, I have been wondering about the difference between the Mini-bucker and the Firebird in the neck of a Tele. I think the warmth of the mini-bucker is a winner.
How ya doin? I am using Alpha 500K push-pulls; My RMF Tone Maintance Kit (Sozo .002 with 100k Carbon resistor; Sozo .047 tone cap. The wiring is Bill Lawrence's T4+1 wiring: Using a CRL 5 way switch: Pos 1 is Neck only; Pos 2 is Neck and Bridge in parallel; Pos 3 is Bridge; Pos 4 is Neck and Bridge slightly out of phase; Pos 5 is neck with 10% less bass. The Volume control is also coil tap for the neck and Tone control is a tap for the bridge.
Hi, I want to do something similar to the setup you have here. But I want to use a Lollar Imperial humbucker that I can coil tap to get single coil sounds. The one thing I'm mainly concerned about is how to wire the tone pots because if I'm not mistaken, humbuckers use 500K tone pots and single coils use 250K tone pots. So I'm just worried about how to wire the whole darn thing.
@mkiese You can wire in a resistor to make the humbucker "see" 500K. Also, there is a company that sells some kind of plug-in Tele switching system that automatically changes the resistance. I think that it's called a Toneshaper, or some such shit.

(My Neck-Mini-HB = 8KOhm (2x4)

Beautiful sound from that guitar and amp combo! I can only imagine how great the sound must have been in the room.
