  • "Mother f*ckers, we got 'em now."

  • This is played at the Sci Fi Dine in restaurant in Disney' Hollywood Studios park in Walt Disney World Orlando Florida

  • I love all of the Goodfellas references in these comments.

  • 10 people won't stop bustin' Jimmy's balls for a share of the Lufthanza Heist money...

  • great version.Vito is a really great entertainer

  • The most recorded song in history but this is the one that always comes to mind

  • LOVE THIS VERSION!!!!

  • I always loved This version Kool

  • I still like the Halls & Oates version the best.

  • What........?? There are only 77,601 people who know this version.....???? Brain dead is right....

  • One of their best rock on Larry & the guys

  • This song will always close to my heart... One of my all time fondest memories was from March 1973 when my father put on a Rock and Roll revival show in Brooklyn NY. I was 8 at the time. My father took me backstage where I was introduced to the finest dressed group in the building...Vito Balsamo and the Salutations...My father past away a year later..he was very young but he left me with the music for which I will be eternally grateful.

  • OH SHIT! MINNA SREET HHHMMMM LET ME THINK WAT THE FUCK

  • doo-wop.. nice version

  • just one word, great!

  • One of the best!

  • @malko42 Dude this is what it is supposed to sound like minus the heroine . Guess you just aren t a doo wop fan. ...... shitty.

  • They're gonna make him...can you believe it? This liddle Guinea bastard! heheheh he's gonna be a boss! we're gonna work for him!

  • @TomthatiscalledTom Yes! Thats the scene this songs in. kinda of annoying that they put the song in the movie and not on the sound track . Love this song!

  • this is so stupid the way they sing it !!!

  • I have heard all th the slow ballads of this song and they're very good. But this monster, fast tempo, amazing harmony with all the twists and turns, plus the great falsetto. Give these props.

  • We got a maker here.... Goodfellas

  • was this group from queens......did they ever play the plaza inn .....in long island city in the 60s

  • @unto789 idk i could possible ask frank for for you (he sang bass in the salutations)

  • Well bonkers but what a great version. There is so much in there. Quality , thanks for posting.

  • One of the best songs of the Doo Wop era. The best version of Unchained Melody ever. I can remember hearing this as a little boy on the radio in my Dad's Rambler. As life has it's unusual twists, Lenny Citron, the baseman in this group lives in S.Fla and we have become friends thanks to the South Fla group Harmony Assoc. He is my idol!! We all must pass this music down to our children and grand children to keep it alive. The "Duke"

  • @selreltuc I [Big Jim] was a Member of SFGHA. I now live in Arizona, I miss the Summer BBQ we would form 2-3 groups and Doo Wop the day away.

  • I think it was 1978 that the salutations wer wer holding auditions in Brooklyn , Vito B was sick or in an accident, my fondest memory was that I made the group as the lead singer, 2 days later I auditioned for a group in Miami called warlocks and became their lead singer, we wer great but to compare Vito and the Sal to shanana is asanine, My Hero is one of the best compliments of voices singin a doowap song!!! Shanana my ass. Henry S

  • @havanakings with all due respect, shanana never was the type to claim the songs they covered as their own. it was all for good fun. they did that to keep songs like this alive.

  • As much as I respect these guys, Sha-Na-Na's version is clearly better simply because the Johnny Contardo can actually handle those high notes in the bridge.

  • @BobGeorgeAU I want what ever you are smoking if you thing Sha-Na- Na's version is clearly better.

  • Sha na na Are You out Of Your Mind...Like MC Hammer Once Said he can't Touch This...Nobody Did or Does It Better Then Vito and the Guys... By The Way Thats Lenny Citron On bass ...

    All My Bass To You

    Steve Horn

    The Legends Of Doo Wop

  • @TheLegendsofdoowop

Steve, good to see your post. I know you from the S.Fla group harmony Assoc. You are correct sir, nobody can match or even come close to the pure adrenalin rush you get listening to Vito with our friend Lenny Citron (my idol) on bass. Rock on my brother! The "Duke"

  • While this is a great version I still like the one with Sha na na and Johnny Contardo on lead. Bowser is also off the charts on this one too. The base vocal sounds very similiar to Sha na na but the falsetto done by Johnny is by far superior. There are times when the cover is better than the original and when this happens it's usually Sha na na doing the honors.

  • terrible

  • "Tommy's gonna be a boss"

  • Better than coffee!

  • I Love Vito && Salutation Side Anything from Astoria /Lic Queens is Great Did you guys hit any notes under the over pass on the Bridge Tri B One

  • See Vito at NJ Doo Wop Show May 29th, 2010

Good Luck and Best Wishes Vito

    BB

  • This is such a great version of the song, unlike any other ever recorded!!!

  • One of the most memorable Do Wop songs, one of my favorites, Lenny Zitron is the bass man. he lives in So. Fla. Met him at the So. Fla Group Harmony Assoc. He's my idol, love his voice and coolness. Eddie Pardochi was also with the group. Great stuff!!!

  • Vito & the guys rock on 4 ever

  • Much better than coffee in the morning!

  • this version is sick, like crazy good man,,I just love it!!!

  • This is the first time i've ever heard this song! Cool tune!

  • It is really cool, Sha Na Na, do an excellent take off of this track

  • Gives me chills baby!

  • Yes you are correct.Thats Vito Piccone but Vito Balsamo is Also featured in the movie as wellwith his song playing in the background.....

  • Just want to clear up some confusion. Vito and the Salutations; the Vito that sang lead to THIS song, Vito Balsamo, is a DIFFERENT Vito then the guy at the end of the bar in Good Fellas. THAT Vito, was Vito Piccone, of the Elegants. Ya's know, that 'Bar Scene' when Billy Bats says, "Take it easy, Vito", and stops the fight.

  • Where did those days go, when I could fast dance to this and not get out of breath? I always loved this song, thanks.

  • I had the pleasure when I was a young man growing up in Brooklyn to sing on the same stage with Vito&former salutations @The U G H A# 100th show.Thanx for the memories.Even Though You Guys Split Up Ill never Forget That Night. DOO WOP LOVER 4 EVER

  • They're gonna make him

  • I loved the version by the Righteous Brothers, but this was really my favorite one. Thanks for the post.

  • you're brain dead (of this era) if you don't dig Vito & the Salutations.

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!!

    Best version EVER!!!!

  • FUCKING GREAT!!!!

    The BEST VERSION!!!!

  • I had the honor of meetin Vito B. at one of the

    Doo Wop shows...nice guy.

    Upbeat Italian Soul..

  • Being Italian, I love your description. I am so glad he used the name Vito!

  • the best....

  • Agree totally - SO GOOD!!!

  • I loved this, my Mom screamed "What have they done to this song?" Peace, Polacko

  • I think this is one of the greatest Doo Wop Songs ever!

  • i love it.

  • this is from goodfellas

  • It was featured in Goodfellas, but originally came out 27 years before the movie.

  • Belay my last...Vito Balsamo & The Salutations singing their fast tempo novelty classic Doo-Wop "Unchained Melody" shares my #1 spot with The Volumes singing "I Love You" which came out at the same time `Summer of `62? I can remember it seemed like every jukebox and car in Brooklyn had these two songs blasting out back then! Also, the other Vito, Vito Picone sang "Little Star" with his group The Elegants, another classic Doo-Wop, if I don't say so...

  • My FAVOURITE DOO-WOP of ALL TIME! ... I had the original 45 since when it was on AM radio but literally wore it out. THEN had to pay Ronnie I over in Clifton $15 for a copy back in the late `80's.

  • what the fuck is going on?

  • Herald 583, yellow with black lettering, recorded 1963. Flip is "Hey Baby Hey".

This is from THE BEST summer of my life. I remember it so very well. Almost impossible to dance to. Thanks Wheel.

  • Vito Balsoma appeared in a small scene in Goodfellas. Still have the 45. Great version of this Old Classic song.

  • I like it , they were on TV last night ..nice different!

  • This group was great and they also did a slow version of this song the was a show stopper, It is a shame that Vito , legally lost the right to the groups name, what a great singer what a great group! Eddie Black , first tenor and lead, The Five Sharks.

  • What did they do to my song!!??

  • "Everything is Beuteeful" "They're gonna make Tommy"

  • "JIMMY I GOTTA TALK TO YOU!!'

    "What happened to Stacks?"

  • - Mah !?

  • this vito was in goodfellas,,i wonder what is vito doing now

  • One of the original group members Shelly B. this is great keep showing all your video's..

  • Sha Na Na does a great version of this.

  • Awsome version.....Vito rocks///

  • Same here, thank god for PBS. Love this version!

  • damm... good song............

  • Man OH Man!! It's been so long since I heard this song. Thank you so much!

    Bayonne Joe

  • Vito Balsamo is the original lead singer of vito & the saluatations - There is also a fake group out there for years. Vito was in Good fellas(He appears in the bar scene) when the song is playing. He also did a movie called Joey. And is doing fine . He also still does performing with other groups and such. The one who claims Vito is their uncle , I highly doubt it.....

  • I think that is Vito Picone from the Elligants.///

  • mastermayhem1 i sent you a message.

  • The Vito that appears in the bar scene in Good Fellas is Vito Picone the lead singer of the Elegants.

  • No, that's not true...i know for sure it is Vito Balsamo...i will say no more.

  • @mastermayhem1 the original salutations consisted of vito balsamo, bobby di paolo, barry solomon and bobby mitchell i know that because my sister was married to bobby di paolo

  • vito is my uncle i always loved this song growing up shame is he a major wash out now

  • vito is my step father who are You? Not very nice to say. I think you got the wrong vito.

  • this the greatest song ever....

  • This was the first version of this standard I ever heard. See what doo-wop hath wrought.

  • I use to see them live when i was little at the Oldies revival shows.

  • This by far and away the best version. This song has been recorded by so many artists, but this one is great doo wop.

  • I first noticed this song in GoodFellas. It's pretty good.

  • totally lovee this

  • Can't BELIEVE I stumbled onto this version of "Unchained Melody"! ALL other versions pale in comparison, not unlike Billy Stewart's version of "Summertime". This is epic! Thank you so much for posting.

  • great i finally found it :D
