  • If u won't ur car to sound "LIKE" u have a blow off valve u can always go on ebay and get u a fbov which u attach inside ur exaust. I would sound sorta like a bov but if u get in a crowd that knows alot about turbos they would quickly point it out.

  • @JayC376 Blow off valves help stop compressor surge. Without a turbo a blow off valve isn't needed because there is no compressor surge...

    How do you not need a turbo to have a blow off valve?

    Non-turbod cars with blow off valves (if they even exist) would be considered rice, atleast by me.

  • @JayC376 Yes you do.. If you put a BOV on a car that is not turboed it will stay closed and do nothing because there is no pressure when the throttle body is closed.

    K20s give more power, but if you want to go cheap, but not exactly cheap, the B18C5 is more than enough.

  • I Vtec and Vtec is about the same thing is jus that i vtec is computer. but your rite money is the problem with this swap and also knowledge. but for a b series i can swap it with my eyes closed.

    I put 4.10 gears in it and mounted some drag slicks from a previous car then went to the drag strip....

    I side stepped the clutch at 6000rpm on the launch and ran a best of 13.78...

    I dont doubt that the new honda motors are quick etc... but i have yet to see a 100% stock honda with drag slicks run 13's

    So please stop all the "My Honda will walk all over ANY 5.0l" ANY? even 1000+hp ones?

    Hondas only have an advantage in terms of weight.

    For an instance my mates B18cR (B18C5 in the USA) JDM CRX will give Evo's and WRX's a good go on the motorway.

  • 302gts i have a prelude type s 1998, and h22a4 with bassic bolt ons including cold air intake, and headers, and ill walk over ur mustang all day today, tm and any other day, sorry to say, but upgrade to a honda, ull be in the shop ALOT LESS

The car is driven daily, takes regular interstate trips, pulls 25mpg on the highway, and averages 18-20 in the city.   • Really? Is that why a stock 5.0 has a limiter at 6,200 rpms but peaks torque at ~3,400 and horsepower at ~4,200? Does that sound like 6,200? Dumbass, do some research before you try and talk shit about that. Sure you can BUY cams that may make power higher, but even still bringing your car to redline after a cam swap is called the bye-bye bearing game. It's a blast! You should try it so we can get one more moron off the road.

  • POS Mustang 5.0? For having one cam, and the design being 30 or so years old, it ain't too bad man... Stock for stock, I hate to break it to you but my 5.0 has walked away from many a 4 cylinder. Not talking about some built up K20, but I've beaten stock B18C1 and C5's, K20s, B20s, B16A2's, and a multitude of each.

    And yes, it depends on the cams that's in there dude. Find me a STOCK motor with STOCK cams that is making peak HP at redline. Good luck.

  • i agree cams make a world of difference dude, and no stock motors dont make peak hp at redline but i guess the idea of going into redline is that when you shift to next gear, you will be in higher rpms than if you shifted earlier, because your rpms are staying higher. what im saying is that max hp is CLOSE to redline in stock honda motors

  • well of course it isn't making peak hp at redline, that wouldn't make any sense. You rev past redline so when you shift into the next gear, you are still in your powerband. What he was saying is that when you get a larger cam or your motor it usually builds power higher up in RPMs.

  • depends what cams u get they can shift the power from low mid high its not just one set for all lol but i agree in a civic you would shift it all high for a car like this.

  • @ahwu555 when he rebuilds it, tell him he is an idiot for holding it in vtec like that without it being on the floor. vtec kicks in at what? 6grand on that motor? you can not be on the floor and everything is fine up till vtec. but once its in vtec your foot needs to be on the floor. vtec is built to be run at full throttle, if your not all the way on the floor, all those crazy oil jets arent feeding the oil the motor needs for vtec.

  • if you maintain your car regularly it can hold up to 300.000 km. Even a B18C engine driven many times up to 9.000 rpm
