@noirkitten What are you on about? Since when were drugs exclusively a working class thing? You're basically saying it's okay for working class people to fuck themselves up because you know, who gives a shit, they're scum anyway, right?
@FrostByte112... Drugs are the only thing that genuinely creates music. History proves that with the obvious ones... Beatles, Stones, Dylan.... Without drugs, bands/artists all of a sudden lose that spark, like, more recently Kings Of Leon, and, of course, Doherty himself. (Wasteland was exactly that)
"if you think drugs have never done any good, go home and burn all your albums and CDs" - Bill Hicks
When people think of Pete, they see the doped up guy crashing out of a nightclub, swinging at photographers then heading off for his fix. They never see the genius, intelligent, unique musician who did brilliant at school, went to a good university, and then went on to create a band that then allowed other bands to make it big.
I think this should be the best anti-drugs video ever: this bright, charming and obviously brilliant kid has done to himself with drugs. Basically caused the libertines to break up and losing potentially the greatest rock-band of the 00's.
What many people don't realize is these brilliant artists make good records inspite of the drugs, not because of them.
@FrostByte112 And what do you do? - help some company sell products? Process bureaucracy? Something interesting? Important? Did you achieve your position with or without drugs?
Not that either applies, mind you - he comes across as such a desperate little knob-jockey it made me clench my arse cheeks with embarrassment for him. The bloke in the green shirt is just as bad, as well. Jesus wept.

@s3c0ndsk1n Well, I'm a dumbass, I didn't know that. Is it such a crime that I ask? And there's a difference between a stupid answer, and an unnecessary insult.
@Sqroob Umberto Eco was a famous writer, philosopher and atheist. Pete was in college at this time by all accounts so was probably studying his work in some capacity, the reason he brought it up when discussing Oasis? Taking the piss I'd imagine, seeing as most probably wouldn't know of Eco, much less whether or not he had any sort of opinion on Oasis.
I imagine he just came from a lecture or lesson where they talked about symbol theory or something where the professor told the students how he subscribes to the umberto eco view of a certain issue, and pete - being amused about the exotic sound of umberto ecos name and the professors sophisticated speech - would keep that phrase in his mind all day, maybe joking with carlos about it in way that they'd put "i subscribe to the umberto eco view that..." before everything they say
@MsDoherty95 Yeah I just took it as a sort of tongue-in-cheek comment that maybe he thought they wore rather fashionable pants... but who knows? Still amusing though
@TheThwaitesy what wrong reasons that he is one of the best singer / song writers in a band that has owned a decade .. yeah that's the wrong reasons? .. he will end up like amy winehouse, to be honest i thought he would die first , wasted talent
@superaltman , im sorry but your talking some serious crap here, your comparing hard drugs to cars??? ... i come to the conclusion that you must be taking hard drugs yourself to even think like that, cars are a necessary part of life, snorting cocaine turns you into a fag, before you know it your sucking a mans dick for a gram, exactly what Doherty was doing.... good luck with that
@MotorsportUK2009 You think cars are more essential than drugs? We have been using them for thousands of years, how long have we had cars? Seriously? Ever Taken a painkiller? Had a beer, or a coffee?
Honestly, this coming from someone called "MotorsportUK"? Makes me chuckle. You think drugs are any more dangerous that driving a car in an irresponsible manner? People are taking drugs safely every day of the week, having a good time, and going to work the next day like any other person.
@MotorsportUK2009 I mean, sure, you can abuse them, just like you can abuse motor vehicles, or food. Doesn't mean they are "Evil", or need to be banned. It's like the people who blame McDonalds because they got fat. No, you ate too much. If you end up giving out a BJ for drug money, you got there by your own fault. If you fuck up your body by abusing substances, that's the fault of the individual, you can't blame an inanimate object for the choices you as an individual make.
@superaltman Yeahh okay..but its knowing when to stop isn't it...? I mean Amy Winehouse was probably one of the most lyrical genius of our time, but drugs stopped her being able to be that talented person she was..:/ I thinks its safe to say thats what happening to Pete don't you?
@Thelibertinesfan1 Sure, drugs have the potential for harm, and plenty of people take them to far, but it is important to remember that PEOPLE take them too far. Not to mention, do you think Pete would be the musician he is without drugs? Drugs can help just as much as they can harm, particularly when it comes to music.
I'll reserve my judgment on Amy Winehouse to when I have listened to more of her music, but from what I have heard so far "Lyrical genius" is a massive overstatement.
@superaltman I genuinley don't say things that I don't think..for example "Lyrical genius" and in my opinion it isn't an "overstatement" but sure, other people won't agree with me, for example, you. I also don't necessarlily agree with you when you say drugs bring out some of the talent in musicians, sure they sing about them. Although when it is killing you, is it all really worth it? Because there are so many other "interesting" things to sing about..
@Thelibertinesfan1 Neither do I. Regarding drugs and music, chances are music wouldn't even exist without drugs, and if it did it would be in a radically different form to what we see today, Alcohol for starters throughout history. I mean even if we just talk 20th century, look at music and its close relation to drugs and drug 'fads'. Psychedelic and progressive rock fueled by hallucinogens, cocaine throughout the 70's, the dance scenes of the 80s's and its relation to MDMA use. Etc.
@superaltman You do have quite a strong point, but in quite a few of, for example 'The Killers' songs they do not involve much music about drugs, of course there is one or two, but most of it is focused on other things, and that is the same for quite a few other rock bands. But it does depend on the music 'one' listens to. Do you mind me asking if your a girl/boy man/woman?
@Thelibertinesfan1 Male, early 20's. Of course there are plenty of bands who sing about things other than drugs, just because they are not singing about drugs specifically, doesn't mean they are not influenced by them. And not all bands are strongly influenced by drugs, but modern music on a whole is. I mean, look at the Beatles, how often are they cited as an influence, and how often do you hear them in other peoples music. Think "Wine, Women and Song", or "Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll".
@mastercooly7 umberto eco is an italian writer and philosopher, but i'm pretty sure he never quoted oasis in his whole life. I can't get this random quote too!
@LotsOfLoveForLiquid ... nope, but if you take hard drugs you are! look At pete here all full faced and fresh, then look at him when he is a junkie, he goes from looking healthy to looking like a skinny diseased tramp with herpes on his face!!
He actually seems very sweet and charming here. The look on his face (the impish grin) was adorable when they asked him if he wanted to be a presenter. It's a shame what drugs to do a person. He is talented but he will never amount to what he could have, had he stayed away from drugs. Drugs are for the socially inept and weak, in my opinion. :(
@WoodysFanBoy Your mistaken. THIS VIDEO was 1997, but Transmission was 2007. It isnt possible to change the date but IT IS possible to edit a video (change the video and name) so i could upload a video just now and edit it next week to a live football match or whatever and it would would have this weeks date although the match would be next week.
@WoodysFanBoy It wasnt any earlier, he was on transmission twice (the first time was 2006 when lauren and Steve interviewed him), then Nov 2007 when only steve inteviewed him. Its possible whoever uploaded the video just swapped the video and edited the title and desciption.
@WoodysFanBoy Dont know but it was in 2008, even google Pete Doherty Transmission. If he says 11 years ago and you think its older than 2007 then how could you think it would be "Standing on the shoulders of giants"?
i ADORE those sophisticated conversations like the one here under every video with doherty appearing in it. deterioration of society starts here, not with people like pete...
Who do you actually think you are? Yeah i'm happy with Pete Dohertys antics... he's a fuckin legend. And no... he hasn't "influenced" me in any way other than through his music. It's people like you thats whats wrong with the world.
@spazmonkey92 my kids would not be so stupid and would appreciate life and what they have - not shove filth in their arms and put peoples lives in danger
@spazmonkey92 contrary to what your little mind thinks, there are people in this world that bring their kids up with responsibility for themselves and other people.
Just because you and pete dogherty were dragged up and don't have the brains enough to help yourselves theres no need to give me a volley
@sweetypie000 you don't fuckin know me you silly bitch. And you probably assume I take smack because I stick up for pete. No... I had a go at you because you were clearly trying to be a dick saying "you are easily pleased (like most doherty fans are)." Why would you write that on a video that shit loads of doherty fans are going to watch? Because your trying to argue on youtube and theres nothing more to your fucking sad ass life.

@LotsOfLoveForLiquid ... nope, but if you take hard drugs you are! look At pete here all full faced and fresh, then look at him when he is a junkie, he goes from looking healthy to looking like a skinny diseased tramp with herpes on his face!!
MotorsportUK2009 5 months ago
I love him so muchhh<3 I feel so sad for him that he got mixed up into the world of drugs:/
Thelibertinesfan1 5 months ago

He actually seems very sweet and charming here. The look on his face (the impish grin) was adorable when they asked him if he wanted to be a presenter. It's a shame what drugs to do a person. He is talented but he will never amount to what he could have, had he stayed away from drugs. Drugs are for the socially inept and weak, in my opinion. :(

Wow he looks like a fresh faced mummy's boy here. Stay away from drugs kids.

Davieshambles1984 6 months ago
Pete only looks about seven years old there. Is he standing on a box?

no1sexgodforever 6 months ago
@WoodysFanBoy Just checked it was Nov 2007
Davieshambles1984 6 months ago
@WoodysFanBoy Dont know but it was in 2008, even google Pete Doherty Transmission. If he says 11 years ago and you think its older than 2007 then how could you think it would be "Standing on the shoulders of giants"?
Davieshambles1984 6 months ago
@WoodysFanBoy ...He's Queuing for "Be here now" this interview was 2008 and "Be here now" was released in 1997

i ADORE those sophisticated conversations like the one here under every video with doherty appearing in it. deterioration of society starts here, not with people like pete...
19donji91 6 months ago
this is the only video of him i know where he looks really... alive. one could laugh and cry at the same time- poor poor pete.

@sweetypie000 get out my pram?... Little boy?...
Who do you actually think you are? Yeah i'm happy with Pete Dohertys antics... he's a fuckin legend. And no... he hasn't "influenced" me in any way other than through his music. It's people like you thats whats wrong with the world.
spazmonkey92 6 months ago
@spazmonkey92 ah, what's wrong with the world is me ? not sick heroin addicts driving cars under the influence and helping people OD ?
you sir are a cunt
sweetypie000 6 months ago
@sweetypie000 fuckin heartless bitch. I hope your kids become heroin addicts then maybe you'll see how un-funny it is
spazmonkey92 6 months ago
@spazmonkey92 my kids would not be so stupid and would appreciate life and what they have - not shove filth in their arms and put peoples lives in danger
sweetypie000 6 months ago
@sweetypie000 thats what u think love
spazmonkey92 6 months ago
@spazmonkey92 contrary to what your little mind thinks, there are people in this world that bring their kids up with responsibility for themselves and other people.
Just because you and pete dogherty were dragged up and don't have the brains enough to help yourselves theres no need to give me a volley
:)
sweetypie000 6 months ago
@sweetypie000 you don't fuckin know me you silly bitch. And you probably assume I take smack because I stick up for pete. No... I had a go at you because you were clearly trying to be a dick saying "you are easily pleased (like most doherty fans are)." Why would you write that on a video that shit loads of doherty fans are going to watch? Because your trying to argue on youtube and theres nothing more to your fucking sad ass life.
Go get fucked
spazmonkey92 6 months ago
@spazmonkey92 oh go take some smack like your hero and chill the f.o you tit
