@SilentLegesInterArma Your peanuts will expire in 2014, but that doesn't make 2014 exist. For example, say you have a blemish on your shoulder and the doctor tells you it will go away in 2014. Does that mean you're immune to death until then? Also it was the Maya, not the Inca, who people get the end of the world idea from. In fact, the end of the Mayan calendar wasn't meant to be the end of the world, but the end of an era.

@wtd15 you've got a good point. But i'm convinced whatever Mayan scribe was writing down the calender just got tired, and figured 12/12/12 would be a cool date to end the calendar on, not that it was the day that he somehow mystically knew when the world would end.

@grlnblk16 Actually that's pretty much right. The whole "cycle" thing is purely for figuring out LARGE time periods for government documentation, the Mayans never intended it to be used for anything else. Amazing how that part gets left out of all the conspiracy theories isn't it?

@Matrilwood Although I can see how you came to that conclusion since the shape is similar, I note feathering on the sides. Feathering that's inconsistent with the Rebel Alliance emblem. To me it looks like wings, possibly a hand holding a heart that has been stabbed with a sword.
