@intwernet lol, I doubt it. I certainly wouldn't run them though any gun I cared about, and I probably still wouldn't run them through a gun I didn't care about, just for my personal safety. Additionally, their only value, if any, would just be as a relic.
i didnt see any mg-42 but who the heck cares. u found ammunition!!!!!!! cool man just plane cool. my friends dad was somewhere near bastogne and found a 30.cal machine gun with real ammo still in the ammo click in. but the ammo was to old so it didnt fire
As materials became scarce, the Germans had to make all their MG ammo out of steel; the bullet jacket and core, as well as the case itself. The case exterior was lacquered to help prevent rust. This late-war steel ammo was highly unreliable in the MG42, causing fired cases to jam in the barrel chamber and stopping the weapon. Use of steel also lightened the bullet from 192 grains (lead core) to 172 grains (steel core).
Since when were bullet shells made of ferrous / magnetic material. Maybe the belts but there were individual rounds on the so called magnet. Don't believe it.
Please do your research before posting this kind of crap.. several types of 7.92 bullets had a steel core or lacquered/coppered steel casings, the latter because of shortage on resources (like copper).
The belt links are made of spring steel. Plus, copper was scarce, so they did have steel cored ammo with the copper on the outside to protect the barrels from wear.
@XMonkeyBrainizationX that's actually talking about the bullet its self . back in the 40s and sill today many 7.62 and 7.92 are steel casings .so yeh that's how they are magnetic .....oh and the metal the FMJ is actually copper jacketed around a lead core .
It isn't that dangerous. You just need knowledge about possible dangers and explosives. But if you find something of an explosive, leave it at the site and report the device to the local authorities.
Thanks for the positive comments!
Post Scriptum: I do not give away the location of the well.
@TheExcevator i have been watching some of this clips also, and not only do they fish out 7.98 mm ammo but 30 40 and 88mm also good luck and R.I.P. PS. is there a difference in 34 and 42 belts?
I also have experience with the 'bigger things', and if you have the knowledge it is not so dangerous. If you know what you are doing, and which explosives to pick up and which not, you have the control.
@theludaboy hey weet jij mischien wat goede plekjes om te zoeken met magneet of metaaldetector, als het effe kan in noord of zuid holland maar buiten mag ook.
