A very nice short. The final shot of synchronised camera-staring is very effective. But what is the red dalek supposed to be? If it's the Supreme, what's the Black one there for?

There have always been at least two senior ranks of Dalek. In the first movie, there was a black leader and a red 'general'.

In the TV stories 'The Black Dalek' seemed to be a rank in its own right. For example, he was the leader of the Dalek invasion of Earth, with a stripy second-in-command. Then in Planet of the Daleks 'The Supreme Council' member was yellow & black.

In the new series Sec is Black and the Supreme is red (The Stolen Earth came after I did this video), so it changes around!

I think the red dalek is the supreme dalek general which maybe part of the high council, their may have been a supreme black dalek watching from far away.

@themindrobber you are mostly right but you were wrong when you said the stripy one was second in command, in the first episode of invasion of earth, they hadnt finished the paint job for that dalek, by the time of the second episode, they had, and it was fully black, and you never see the stripy one again, they were the same dalek.

@OWIREProductions I'm afraid you've been mis-informed, sir. One prop in DIoE was striped in order to give it a distinctive rank for episode two. It was designated a 'saucer commander'. For further episodes it was painted all black to act as as 'the Black Dalek'. They are indeed the same prop, but they are not meant to be the same Dalek. @naztardis I am sorry but this is not true. The prop was fully silver on 24th September 1964. Then on 25th September 1964 it was painted in stripes for recording of episode two of Dalek Invasion of Earth in the role of 'saucer commander'. Then it was painted fully black the following week for recording of episode three on 2nd October 1965 in which it appeared as 'the Black Dalek'. There is no proof to substantiate the idea that the paint job wasn't finished in time. It's an old myth.

You are correct, however I did this animation before a 'Supreme Dalek' had been seen in the new series. I think I did this a couple of months before 'The Stolen Earth'.

i dont know if you knew but its not the same black dalek in every episode he appears. theres about 10 black daleks in the supreme council, the gold from day of the daleks and the supreme dalek in charge of it all from planet of the daleks.

THIS IS INCREDIBLE! The only downfall is that the red dalek's colour isn't that noticeable BUT I'm not being some abusive complainer I'm only saying. This animation is probably the best animation I've ever seen and it actually puts all the professional film makers to shame.

Dont wish to be nit picking but the red Dalek is in fact the Supreme controller

Actually, no red Dalek was ever seen in the original TV series. The red Daleks in the Peter Cushing films were subordinate to the black Dalek, and both were ruled by the supreme who was gold.

The Dalek Supreme in the seventies was also gold, but in the eighties was black again.

My animation shows the Daleks at home, chilling out on Skaro where the black/silver rules the roost and the red/silver is his second in command.

We won't talk about the forthcoming season finale just yet...
