  • i remember when this first came on, I was about 10 years old loved it. Always wondered why they only made 13 episodes, great to watch it again.

"I can't help it sir, your being so mean." xDD

  • Those bicycle "helmets" really do look phallic don't they.

  • "A strawberry flavored lesbian" LOL!

  • But surely something that is very good can't go on forever. If it tries, then it's in danger of wearing thin and dying out. Why not just be content with 2 series' of fantastic television? Fawlty Towers only had 2 series. That's enough for anyone.

  • 'Then my mother will come to this station and do her raving na-na!' 5:46 !LOL!

  • Exactely alike Polis-Inspector Groenberg in Uddevalla Police Station in 2010.

    These Goat-Killers Union....

    Escargency

  • 7:12!!!!!

  • ur sssssssooooooooo mean

  • This is so sadly typical of British television: Stupendously great shows that only last for about six or ten episodes.

  • i know it sux when something so great only has few eps look at filthy rich and catflap and believe nothing (Rik mayall shows)

  • that is so tottaly true but there r like 600 episodes!

  • Excellent show. Only two seasons, though, it's a travesty. I'm in North America now, and you should check out 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Big Bang Theory'.

  • @ZaffireWolf It's because, unlike American shows, they want to be remembered as always being continuously good and not making so many episodes the quality declines.

  • @MythOfEchelon That's still less good content overall than a show that can produce more content. Declining quality doesn't mean that only six shows of a series are worth watching. People are so obsessed with the delusion of having the "best" of everything that they start taking good things for granted and exaggerate menial flaws to the point of ludicrousness, like those nerds who complain about everything George Lucas does. I can love an imperfect show for much longer than a "perfect" one.

  • @ZaffireWolf Yes but the good thing about British comedy is that the same writers and actors only make a few amount of episodes (as you said) but make more series. Rowan Atkinson, Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, for example, together have made Not The Nine O'Clock News; Black Adder 1, 2, 3 and 4; Mr Bean; etc.

American's are also, sometimes, guilty of it, using The Walking Dead for example.

Although, I will give them Lost. That was a FANTASTIC series, throughout!

  • @ZaffireWolf That's the best thing about British sitcoms - we know when to stop. Our shows go out on a high with lots of great episodes. They don't go on and on forever with lots of rubbish and only a couple of decent episodes like American sitcoms do.

Dinnerladies, Black Books, Father Ted, Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, The Thin Blue Line - all examples of shows that knew when to call it a day.

  • @yottskry12 Amen to that.

  • @yottskry12 Whilst what you're saying is very true, I think The Thin Blue Line had at least one more classic series in it. It was originally axed due to poor ratings, which I'll never understand, as it's one of our all time best comedies in my opinion. Perhaps only now, it's brilliance is truly being appreciated. Red Dwarf had 6 awesome series, before it started going downhill with Series 7, So a 3rd series of Thin Blue Line could have been, and probably would have been great. :(

  • @AngelicStorm1 I agree. One more series would probably have been good, particularly as we keep our series very short at only 6 - 8 episodes, so it takes longer for that malaise to set in that plagues American series.

  • @yottskry12 Yep. US series usually run to 20+ episodes, so the rot can set in very quickly. Another advantange of our sitcoms, is it's usually only one, or two writers responsible, as opposed to a team of writers which is the norm for US sitcoms. Red Dwarf is a great example of not knowing when to bow out at the top, as series 7 & 8 paled in comparison to the previous six. But Thin Blue Line had one more great series in it I feel. Shame the public at the time didn't take to it. :(

  • Raving na-na. XD

  • a strawberry flavoured lesbian!

    muhahaha

  • Gladstone: "She get me with the cup though!" Fowler: "Meanwhile, back on earth..." Lmao!

  • "I might disappear altogether and develop severe personality disorders. Then my mother would come to this station AND DO HER RAVING NA-NA!!" LMFAO!!!!!!!
