The Jordanians almost wiped out the Jews of Jerusalem when they annexed the "West Bank" and East Jerusalem.....handing them the Negev would have made the defense of Israel even more impossible...and thats why the Irgun assassinated him...he was an agent of the Jordanians.

I'm usually in full agreement with pat but not on this one, because the real reason that israel came into existance had nothing to do with religion or jews, it had to do with money and power. in my view the world is just a chess board to the rich elite where they actually control all the pieces, on both sides, so even though it looks like one side is losing, they are still winning.
