@Hyyra Well I have an AMD athlon 64 x2 5600+ and while watching youtube right now core0 is at 35c and core1 is at 38c. While playing games goes to 65c. I have applied crappy ceramic paste with stock HSF too. You may need to take your PC to an expert to put new thermal paste to your CPU. 90f is great but if your 90 are celcius then my friend you need to find someone who fix it NOW.

i have a AMD phenom x3 on my old computer, its designed to get hot, it get upto 70 alot, and sometimes 90, but its been known to safly clock 125+! scary.... i've never got it that far though.... SIMS 3 TIME! (always overheats meh computer =P)

@technotorch What program was reporting 25 c? Generally, Speedfan reads from the digital sensor implanted IN YOUR CPU, so if that's wrong, it's your CPU's fault.

@technotorch I'm just saying that some manufacturers have a habit of placing heat sensors on the mobo underneath the CPU that read temperatures for the CPU, instead of relying on the now-standard inbuilt sensors of the CPU itself. Perhaps your motherboard has a sensor plug for your case that isn't linked to the CPU's sensor, because unless you are liquid cooling, 25 C is a pretty fantastic number.

I have a question, and it could be serious.

I'm running an Intel e8400 @ 3.00 ghz (Duo core)

According to the asus software I'm using, I'm idling anywhere from 46-51 celcius, and once I start doing things, it spikes up to and including 68 celcius.

Speed fan however, says this.

CPU runs at 68 celcius on idle, 74 on work.

Does anyone know a good way to cool down my CPU. I've got a fan blowing air into the front of it, via the floppy disk drive (It's a gaping whole)

u might need to clean your CPU and put new thermal paste on it. it will help. guarantied... check also if all fans are running and in the right direction, and that the heatsink is clean.

have you tried lapping your cpu? and getting a am2 after market cpu cooler? also try cleaning the computer make sure there is no dust on the heatsink and fan!!! that might help let me know

my old S754 kept overheating so I replaced the thermal paste as well as new thermal paste on the old GeForce card, its like having a new pc again. it would shut down around 85c now it runs 29c-40c depending on what game im playing. I also have an older 2.8gh intel that would run at 90c on startup, I just tried new thermal paste and got it down to 30c on startup and 45c playing some lame games. PMO because i have a new CPU in the mail from ebay that I dont need now

My CPU is @ around 100C while playing PC games. With my PC idle it's about 60-70C hot. That's not normal. I also figured out that my CPU fan and heatsink are wearing a coat of dust. I guess I need a high-pressured air compressor to do the job ;)

replace the thermal paste between heatsink and cpu!

55C should be a max temp for you, if your at 80c that could cause an issue. here is some novas advise.

1. make sure all of your fans are blowing from front of the case to the back of the case. this will insure max. air flow.

2. spend the extra $5.00 and get silver thermal paste.

3. get a good CPU fan, the Nvidia one in your video is excelent.

4. finally if you have active cooling on you MB remove it, it will obstruct the air flow for the cpu.

how can a am2 cpu be that hot? i have a 3000+ sempron and the idle temp is somewhere at 20 degree celsius. have you tried replacing the thermal compound? does the cpu cooler stand perfectly on the cpu? do you clean your computer from dust from time to time? try both, replacing the thermal compound and cleaning (or even replacing your cpu fan with a better one) the fan and radiator. (i know this video is old and the guy might have solved the problem but it may be useful for others) good luck

Yea your CPU would be stable, I use 3.2 GHz and I use the following setings, may differ from your mobo settings...

Asus P5K-e WiFi AP + Q6600 + G.Skill DDR2 8500

Multiplier = 8x

FSB = 400

Voltage = 1.2875 - STABLE

Temps are around 40-44 idle, 60 full load.

Probably your CPUs so hot is that there air in take but no output of the hot air your power fan at top computer is probably broken

are those temps on idle or load? if they are on idle i would say you wont get very far if that is the load temp then you should be good to go to something like 3 ghz

if that are the idle temps: 64 idle and 73 load (may vary depending on other stuff)

and if that are the load temps then it will be like: idle: 50-52 and load: 65

Get a descent cooler...I have a Domino ALC which is good if you don't play around with it too often.

wow are you overclocking that AMD? that things hot enough to fry eggs..... yikes... i knew AMD ran hot but sheesh... i run a core 2 quad 9550 2.83 to 3.63 oc'd with zalman 9550 cnps at cooler. dropped about 25C in temps with OCZ freeze thermal grease. really good cooler and thermal paste....... before with stock cooler 3.2 was at 75C at full load. couldnt go any farther. invest in a zalman amd cooler man and some ocz freeze paste. your pc will thank you

in speedfan they say sometimes that my cpu is 190 degrees.. when i go to config *on the mainpage on speedfan* and than go to advanced and that set everything to absolute and 127 *tempature offset* or something they call it? than at ones they say my cpu is 190 degrees.. weird?

Are you sure thats not your GPU temp, but if it is your CPU temp then get some better cooling...
