  • If I do 30 second intervals, how many should I do a day?

  • I felt it all over..is that BAD? I had five kids and out of those five TWINS...But I was never over weight..but lazy at tymes...Even now I weigh in @ 167 standing 5'11....what shall I do?

  • I did this exercise with Wii Fit consistently and I can now Hold a Plank Position for & minutes easy! It's a realllllly great exercise :)

    They are called planks and they do in fact work great. Do side planks and stomach planks and start out most can do 30-60 seconds. When you get up to 5 minutes you can add weight to make it harder.

  • does this actually make your stomach flat or does it only make you have abs? i am a girl and i don't want abs :S i want a flat stomach. how many of these should i do a day and when? also, when will i have a completely FLAT STOMACH? please reply!

  • @X3AmychanX3 It won't give you ab's, it will flatten or "tone" your stomach. You need strong and toned ab's first in order to get ab's.

    I'm not an expert but PE is my best subject - To start of you need to do it about 3-4 times a week, and maybe about 4-5 times a day for 30 - 40 seconds, then once your muscles adapt to it, you need to gradually increase it. Do it 4-5 times a week and add 5 seconds on to however long you were holding them for.

    Tone just means tight if you didn't know :)

  • That's pretty much planks. That's not easy and I got lazy with sticking with it (lost 80+ pounds in a year). All I have to do is tone. Going to work on that starting now :P

    I used the Wii Fit for it and it was more challenging because you have to stay within a yellow area for balance and steadily in the middle (center of balance). Very fun but difficult.

  • @Soccerchicka9021 He never said it hurts your stomach. He said its a waste of time to do sit up because it only targets 2 of the 12 muscles in your abbs.

    He specifically said it hurts your neck and your back. Which is true. They made us do these excercises when i was in tennis, i have a bad neck and back because of it.

    im 14, female and i want to tone my belly (please dont tell me im too young and all that .. i know but i still wanna lol)

    and my stomch is kind of flat, i can see the line of muscle down my stomach, BUT there is still a bit of fat right at the bottom of my belly .... i want to get rid of this and also gain SOME muscle. only a little.

    would this exercise be good for this? how many times should i do it? any other reccommendations?

  • hey ive got a question. I did this 2 or 3 times before i went to bed and the next day i had back pains for multiple hours. Is this normal or am I doing the exercise wrong? I'm only 17 so i highly doubt its back problems

  • @TEFgolfer11 i wouldnt do this exercise often. It can cause too many problems.

  • Continue staying in bed get off yor stomach, Scoop on your kneels while your still readin again i'm textin u bottom stickin out. you will also then feel it in your neck and arms also still in your stomach. Thanks for readin!

  • U will feel it even more from the stomach to across your bottom to the side of your hips.then if u what to feel it more.

I lay on my stomach while sleeping, and when i wake up and read a book still in bed laying on my stomach with a big pillow or my daughter's big bear on my chin I feel that burning feeling in my stomach no exercises at all just stayin n bed reading or texting is what i'm doin now!

    if it doesnt hurt it means it's not actually working .....

    you're either not doing it properly or hard enough

    or you've been doing them for a long time and are used to it.

    try holding the position longer or doing it more accurately

    how long have you been doing this for? does it REALLY work?

  • Its just a plank. We do this everyday at school.

  • I used to be a gymnast and we did the plank everyday for 2 minutes. It works by tightening the core. But it burns!!!

  • @CrispyClaire The sides of your stomach. Its called a love handle because thats where someone would hold you.

  • This is called a plank exercise. Sit-up and crunch style exercises can get you ripped abs but there can still be a pouch or muffin top, especially when you're sitting down. This plank style exercise works the transverse abdominal which actually elongates and flattens your abs.
