This song never gets old. This chick introduced me to in very late on cold February evening while jacking me off as a prelude to a pounding; she told me she was in heaven at the time and I remember trying to reach the CD player, to restart the song, while not compromising her kung fu grip; I stole the CD that night.
Such an original band. Harriet gets the most accolades but I think the band is extremely under-rated as well. Excellent musicianship. As an avid music lover I can't believe I didn't really know about these guys until recently, even though I liked "Summertime" when it came out.
I've lost count how many times I've listened to this song in my life and what it means to me and how it always seems to make my life make sense when nothing else does.
Jangly guitars; catchy melodies; poignant lyrics; Levi jeans; staring into space; just gotta love the 90s sounds. This band were brill! Three albums then? Does anyone know? Please advise if you do. Cheers.
You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? Well, This song and really the whole album paints a thousand pictures for me! . . . How many words would that be, I wonder? The other day, someone told me that synergy occurs when the whole is of more value than the sum of the parts. It's like 2+2=5, you know? You can hear that there is just something extra ordinary there in the music.
F it. I don't care if The Sunday's fell into the class of sorority rock. I'm a guy and I completely love this track. I have ever since I discovered it back in 1996. The big production qualities is superb and Harriot Wheeler's voice just exudes delicate femininity. 5 stars.
@BadgemanDFW - Thanks and I appreciate your comments but.........Sorority rock? I don't think so. The Sundays are a great rock band - period. I love these guys. They play the best version of "Wild Horses" I've ever heard. "Here's Where the Story Ends" is a classic. And "Goodbye" is unforgettable.
@BadgemanDFW Pure sonic extasy. I have a nice audio system and this song is one of my all time favorites to crank up. Good music is good music. Anyone who thinks this is bubblegum music doesn't know music.
"Blind" is one of the few albums I can listen all the way through - when I can't fall asleep, I put on my ipod - Sundays - play all...totally relaxes me..."I Feel" is one of the best..
Ok..................for the record...........nothing and I mean nothing sounds like the cocteau twins..............i like the sundays but they are no cocteau twins

@CartoonMuhammed ...Me too. I play acoustic guitar and I can't count how many times I've fantasized accompanying Harriet. What a thrill it must have been for Dave
you know as i listen to the sundays, i often wonder how amazing it must feel to be able to sing like that it must feel wonderful! i love harriet one of my all time favourite singers : )
To all of you here, who love this woman, her man, and their sound... We are one. There's a beauty in the haunting; a sadness in the exhilaration. In this, we find love and pain; in her voice, eternity.
@hupfernum You are a beautiful soul for saying what you wrote here. I was thinking as I watched this video that you can see all the beauty of life and creation is these few minutes if you have the eyes to see it. Apparently, you do. P.S. I think their version of "Wild Horses" is one of the single most beautiful things I've ever heard in my life. "Folk Song" makes me swoon, too. Loveliness. :)
Makes my heart smile. Takes me back to when I used to sit by the stream and play her music as loud as I could. I would sing and dance and let it all go
this song reminds me of driving back down to college in the fall...used to always blast this album while driving down I-79 with the leaves in bloom. that a great fucking time to be in college and coming of age. i'd give anything to go back to that time armed with who i am now rather than who i was. but, of course, i cannot. this song is the closest thing there is to me getting back to those times. incredible.
That has some of the most incredible use of multi-tracking Harriet's voice, a divine song, it's just a shame the video doesn't seem to know what it's saying...
The first concert I went to was to The Sundays in Hollywood.1992. And what a treat it was to see and listen to Harriet up close. She has a voice to remind us to never take for granted our hearing and a beauty that reminds me how she stold my teenage heart years ago.
Harriet Wheeler has one of the most soothing and rich voices to ever grace Rock music. Anyway, what happened to 'Alternative' music. In today's monopolized music industry, we have artists such as Jason Mraz masquerading as 'Alternative' artists. Lol!
@PerfectCharity - hi PC- tough decision, but i feel like each album of theirs is better than their last. not many bands I can say that about except 'Iona' and 'jellyfish' (tho jellyfish only had 2 and a half albums). 'static and silence' is amazing - Harriet's voice is better than ever, the production, the sound, the musicianship. (the production is very very clean (or i would call 'clear' - not very '90's) but that only brings out the delicate parts of the instruments- espec. H's voice.
@PerfectCharity - also, make sure you get their 6 un-released/b-sides songs. 'noise', 'don't tell Mother', and especially these next 4: 'gone', 'nothing sweet', 'through the dark', 'life goes on'. They were put as b-sides on single cd's for 'cry' and 'summertime'. let me know if you can NOT find them.
Watch good PPL and notice @ 2,07 The camera of the "Satanic" Music industry zooms in on Harriet's "EYE" Symbolizing their subliminal NWO identity !! Sinister or....WHAT ???.....anyway great song...they can't cover that ....or......can they !??!!!
A very talented group of individuals for sure. Brilliant writing, arrangements and engineering. A oneness that keeps drawing me back. Beautiful works.
@ted0408 Amen brother...Gavurin is under-appreciated as a guitarist and song writer...I've read everything I can put my hands on about the band and as far as I can tell, Gavurin is self-taught..no musical training...Just amazing
One of the most underated bands of all time... Harriets voice can just take you away........ and Dave's guitar riffs.... AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn't it astounding that The Innocence Mission music is so very similar to The Sundays? Maybe partially, but especially the guitar work of David Gavurin and Don Peris sounds so comparable...
@rainrunner1 I saw them live in 1992. They were magnificent. Harriet's got such a big voice for a such a tiny woman (she's like 5'1"), and she's got a face as gorgeous as her voice. I'm a sucker for petite redheads, I guess.
actually, I'd be just as happy with a whole wheat English muffin with flaxseed, spread with almond butter and raw organic honey from Whole Foods, splashed down with a mixed drink of acai, goji, pomegranate, limeade with ginger, green tea, coconut water and peppermint yerba mate. Is that too much to ask?
@shanejacobus I think people do... mostly... but often people dream of more, bigger, grander, even grandiose things... then when those dreams don't come true they give up, and all they dream of is the easy painless life and death, as if no more than that could come to them.
Sending out how much we appreciate their tunes, her voice and performance, and how much we miss them... holds many feelings and memories for my lady and I both. We hold this pretty sacred...
Harriet Wheeler is an angel...what a voice, and she is so beautiful!

"Just give me an easy life and a peaceful death"
Isn't that what everybody wants?

actually, I'd be just as happy with a whole wheat English muffin with flaxseed, spread with almond butter and raw organic honey from Whole Foods, splashed down with a mixed drink of acai, goji, pomegranate, limeade with ginger, green tea, coconut water and peppermint yerba mate.
