It was Daoud's own fault he was murdered. He shouldn't have dealt with the communists to begin with and that's what you get for pretty much stabbing your own family in the back just to gain control of power. Daoud was dealing with the communists in Afghanistan in the USSR for nothing. Pakistan or no one else wasn't a threat they were all talk. Life was good under Zahir Shah. But when Daud came he was the cause of the soviet invasion and communist revolution. He wasn't that great of a leader.

Daoud had the communist leader Mir Akbar Khyber killed and this started the whole mess. The communists were often repressed and jailed but this killing of Akbar Khyber was the straw that broke the donkey's back. Thousands of communist supporters and sympathizers protested in the streets and many were arrested. One of them, Hafizullah Amin, was under house arrest and it was his little kid daughters who sent the orders for the coup to the households of military officials. The rest is history.
