A fantastic engineering project, more should be built around the world. We don't need money to do any of these things we just need people with skills of all Trades
The Chinese Govt actually supported the Airport Project, however it was jsut their concern that the Brits will try to use most of the finance reserve of the colony before they retreated. Havent you felt from this documentary that whenever the team encountered a technical problem, they just used the most latest technology and equipment in massive scale to solve it, regardless of the cost. Also the Brits wanted to fininsh this project in 7 yrs sure increased the cost a lot. That's why Chi concern
@kaiwkc well but the history showed that the british had left a huge amount of financial reserve to the new hong kong government. and the new hong kong airport helped the economic growth of hong kong a lot
@appleorange200606 the financial reserve was all paid by the HK people, not just the British ' left' to the new HK Govt. The British in fact didnt give a dollar to HK's reserve. The huge finance reserve was due to the high land price & property market. Most of HK ppl spent most of the salary in their lives to support this high price, while the British companies just got most of the contracts from this project, even a pencil in the HK Govt Department had to be imported from UK, thats colony.
Marvellous......an unique example....as it is said in the end, it is unlikely that anything this complex will ever be build again as a single project.....it really an inspiring example for other countries of extreme Engineering like "Hong Kong Airport"
Truly amazing what man can do

I don't get it how he goes ''the year is 2010'' and goes on about the storm...but this video was uploaded 2008?
Tilan123 6 months ago
@Tilan123 It was a projected storm. So, in 2008, they predicted a storm in 2010 or they just made it up
