And to supplement your point - A Palin vice presidency would effectively make McCain as impeachment-proof as Bush has been with Cheney next in line. What would McCain have to do for Congress to remove him from office and let Palin assume the presidency? I doubt that even an unauthorized attack on a foreign nation (or two) would be enough, and it almost certainly wouldn't happen for anything less egregious.
