  • Salsa competition next??

  • This right here a waste of money why the fuck u need 2

  • Is the screen resolution difference between the new and old one ?

  • @motabbirh not really

  • There are a couple of reasons why you are not seeing much difference between and even a decrease in video performance! First off when loading programs, the biggest factor will be your HDD! It really doesn't matter how fast your CPU is if it can't get the data off the HDD quickly then you won't see much! When looking at your video cards for each, you went from a ATI 4850 to a AMD 6770.. Looking at video Cards that second number is your series/benchmark number.Newer card has lower benchmark!

  • how do get the money? omg..

  • The iMac really hasn't come that far in two years. Still, great computer and a lot of fun to use (21.5" user here).

  • why get a new one when the old one is only slightly slower....apple pls make them alot faster!!!

  • Let's see, he has 2 iMacs, a Mac Mini (or Apple Tv), an iPhone, and an iPad. If he doesn't have an iPod, I'm going to flip.

  • Wich desk do you have ? It's looks really nice

  • if i had two 27 in IMACs yeah id totally have the best jam session ever.

  • Why have they not got touchscreen capability.

I have hp 22'' touchscreen, I would buy an iMac, but hp is more innovative, also there products are just as sleek and are designed just as beautiful, and not as expensive for an ordinary customer.

But i do think the design of iMac are better than HP computers, but they lack that certain level of innovation in comparison to HP Computers.

  • I think if I can save money I will get the 2009 version as the speed difference is not appreciable, the install though is the only thing that give me pause there is a big difference between 15min on the newer one and 19min on the older one.

  • @yummyr32ocky, It wouldn't be surprising for someone to want a third one of those machines, they are amazing and dependable, you'd be lucky to even have one, but these computers aren't always the best with only one or two, he's probably a guy that does a lot of technical things.

  • There must be something wrong with your 2009. My base 2010 i3 boots up and shuts down much faster, like your 2011. You should test your computers by running some video encoding programs, i e export in fullHD some Aperture slideshows. Comparing how the 2 machines launch programs does not make much sense - buy a SSD for that.

  • Wait you have 2 iMacs and I have 0, your thinking about buying a 3rd one! You gotta be kidding me! Save your money up to buy a nice fancy car or go on a cruise! If your buying a 3rd iMac, ill be glad to have the one that came out in 2009!!!

  • @yummyr23ocky I've only got 1 iMac. I bought the new model, made this video, and then sold the older model. In the video, I mentioned that I have a second screen, and with the second Thunderbolt port I now have the option to get a 3rd screen. I haven't yet though. Need a bigger desk! Thanks for watching!

  • Hey Blake....Im new to the #ATeam as of this year. My question is when the newer model is showing faster, couldnt the old one just be upgraded to a faster processor or memory, if its even able to be upgrade? Thanks.

  • are thy both the same price?

  • why are you so rich?

  • It took me like 2 hours to install the CS5 suite

  • dude since you have the new version can have your old one pwitty pwitty pweeeeeease

  • How did he do the thing at 3:21 ?? Please answer!

  • @SuperAZE15 It's different in Lion than in Snow Leopard, and your configuration may not be the same, but for me it's CTRL + scroll. Thanks for watching!

  • @blakecottington Thank you! great video by the way.

  • @blakecottington its the same thing for snow leapard :D

  • Comment removed

  • I'm getting one next year!!! Still saving up, lol

  • @AlexFoeShizzle Save more than anticipated, the Ivy cores are comming out in march. Im saving for one too so I can 3D model and code, Although im going to have to put Windows 7 on for that. No biggie tho. I like it.

  • the newer sandy bridge chip seems to be better :)

  • do you think i should buy a late 2011 iMac, or wait for a newer iMac.

  • Your iMac 2009 is slow! I have the same model accept I have the 27 inch i7 and mines loads quickly from boot everyttime.

  • whats the name of the bechmark program? and widget ? thx man!

  • thats for the vid.

i have bought the new mac yesterday from apple it cost me nealy £2,000

  • should i get ipad2 or iphone 4

  • @joedunne99 DONT GET IPHONE 4! NEW WWDC COMING 4TH OCTOBER!!!!!!!!

  • @joedunne99 You should get BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry Playbook Tablet =)

  • @joedunne99 iPhone 4

  • you could hook the imacs together and use one asa display

  • Is it me or does apple release a new imac MacBook pro/air every 3 months?!!???

  • @RickyJamesPivotVids It's you

  • does it have inbuilt cpu....!!!!! ?

  • WHY ARE YOU PROMOTING CHUNCKIES? LOL

  • Nice review ** LIKE **

  • its funny how it sounded like rape instead of rate

  • love the featured food segment!!!

  • If I buy my friend's used 2009 model, upgrade to 16 GB and reinstall the OS, will there still be a big difference?

A new 2011 costs 16,000 kroner. His used one costs 10,000 kroner. 5/8 cost.

I need a really fast one for composing music, but is it worth the extra money? The boot time was pretty slow on the 2009 one.

  • @MagnusRulerHardt

    It's from 2010*

  • Can i get adobe flash cs4 on an imac cuase i really want to make animations

  • Featured food ??????lol

  • I want an 27" imac realy bad! But i need 1699 dollars first. Any ideas on how to get that much money??? Anybody

  • @johnandemilio

Deal drugs, wear suits and you're in business.

  • @MagnusRulerHardt thanks a lot. that would help me a whole bunch.. IF I WERE TRYING TO GO TO JAIL FOR LIFE

  • @johnandemilio

Meeh, 30 years tops. Worth the iMac :)

  • @MagnusRulerHardt u shouldnt share that u drug deal on the interenet

  • @johnandemilio

    I share that I do because I don't.

  • @johnandemilio Try working, that pays well i here :-) .

  • hey man i am getting the new 27 inch imac this year..or should i wait for next year? because i heard that they are going to redesign it next year?

  • So the 2011 one is faster I like it!

  • Hmmm.. I see that the 2011 model is a little faster than the 2009 model except the booting case in which the 2009 model is very slow. I have a late 2009 model 27 i7, so what you have to do to make the 2009 model boot faster is to go to the system preferences > startup disk and pick the Mac OS X disk. After doing this you'll see your iMac boot much faster. Btw nice video and nice comparison. Greetings from Prishtina

  • photoshop opened up hella fast dude my pc takes like 2 mins to open it up

  • why are you not using the i7 model for the 2011 model? why even bother buying a mid lever imac to replace and older top of the line model imac?!

  • @nr98001 the graphics in the old one are actually faster. The 6770m in the new one is a mobile GPU while the one in the older model is an hd4850 which is a desktop GPU. Even the highest end mobile graphics card is only about as strong as a desktop midrange card. Example, the mobile 5870m is only as strong as the desktop 5770.

  • @gmaster45612374 The card in the old iMac is only advertised as a 4850. It is really a mobile card with the same specifications.

  • doesnt seem like that much difference, except the graphics card

  • so exact same on the outside (bar the ports) but different on the inside?

  • I'm not sure what to think with these benchmark results. I'm almost inclined to think that they are just flat out wrong. No way that older graphics card could beat the new one they have in the imac. Just a suggestion... since you can't use 3Dmark as it's not available for mac to my knowledge, maybe try using Cinebench. I would be interested to see a video of Cinebench testing on the macbook pro's and these two imacs if still possible. Maxon.net has it under downloads, and it's free unlike 3Dmark

  • @nr98001 Thanks I will definitely give Cinebench a try!

  • @nr98001 The new iMac that he is testing is the low-end i5 where as the old iMac is the high-end (though not upgraded to i7), which explains why it beats the older one in graphics. I have a 3.4 GHz core i7 iMac from 2011 and it reaches about 1550-1600 fps in NovaBench compared to the old one's 900.

  • @Tha2ndWimp Your post doesn't really make sense. The new imac is low end i5, so that's why it beats out the old imac with a high-end i5? lol...

I'm talking about graphics performance. Being that were looking at two different GPU's on a similar system, both i5's regardless of the new one being 2nd gen, there should not be a difference in graphics performance. Were talking a 6000 series GPU versus a 4000 from 2 generations ago. The 6770 should be beating out the 4850 regardless of i5 or not.

  • @RAWRIAMSCARYPANTS No, it should not, because obviously, you don't know what you're talking about. The new one is the low-end iMac from 2011, the old one is the high-end iMac from 2009. The GPU in the new one is NOT a 6770, it's a 6770M.

  • AMD O ATI?¿ EN EL CASO DE LA IMAC

  • 4,000th viewer!!

  • Interesting, it seems that Apple have decided to move from desktop graphics to mobile graphics. Or at least that's what the model numbers indicate {4850 vs 6770M}.

Not only is the 6000 series graphics a different naming structure (ie. the old 800 series is now the 900 series so the 5850 is comparable to the 6950) but they now seem to be using mobile (M) graphics chips.

The only explanation I can think of is the 4850 is a mobile graphics chip but with no indication on model number (ie. an "M").

  • In the specs in the video you write 1280x720 on the new one, and 1280x1024 on the old imac?

  • @benjaminhejhejhej Yes, that's correct. But I still said the "FaceTime" camera on the new iMac was better because it looked sharper when I compared the two side by side. Can anyone else corroborate?

  • @blakecottington the older camera is not an hd resolution so when the image is stretched it doesn't maintain the aspect ratio. I really enjoyed this video by the way

  • @benjaminhejhejhej

If you want really good video, buy a 1080p HDMI USB adapter and a 1080p camcorder or DSLR.

  • The old imac has higher resolution on the camera?

  • Do you play Starcraft 2? Because I want to get the 27in" model you have but I was wondering if it performs excellent in starcraft like if it can play in ultra or how FPS it can handle? Anyways great video!

  • @KSIDavyjones Sorry no, but I think I'm going to do some more benchmarking soon so stay tuned!

  • @KSIDavyjones I play starcraft 2. I don't personally own the latest imac, but I can tell you that the latest 2011 model will play starcraft 2 with ease. I would suggest springing for the more expensive model with the 6970 AMD GPU, but the 6770 will still play it very smoothly. You may have to adjust a few settings from ultra down to high. Especially in some of the custom maps. On the other hand, 6970 is the fastest GPU chip that AMD makes. It'll run any game flawlessly on the mac.

  • @KSIDavyjones If the graphics card is good then yeah

  • @KSIDavyjones build a pc.....

  • They should have made te iMacs standard with i7s. Disappointed at that, oh well can't wait for my iMac to arrive! Woop woop

  • @ioxapple World of Coke in Atlanta, but it looks like you can get it through various online venues, including eBay. Search for coke bottle cap mousepad.

  • I jumped from the early 2009 to the new 2011 i5 3.1GHz. Big improvement in every thing. I'm very pleased with it. It cost me $1999 - 100.00 for OSU discount and I saved $60.00 on Apple care. I just showed the salesperson at the Apple Store a business card (wife's) that I could have made in 5 minutes.

Excellent video. I think you need to show some real food like your first video? Not a jar of some thing, lol. Still, very cool.

How did you shut down...short cut keys?

    Thumbs Way up!

    Tim 

  • @chessdude67 Sweet! And I hear ya on the salsa. A bit of a weak entry, I admit, but I 've got something good planned for next time!

  • @chessdude67 Oh yeah also the shut down was nothing special. I had already clicked shut down before the clip started. Then I just pressed enter at the same time to confirm.

  • @blakecottington ok. Thanks for getting back to me. Take care.

    Tim

  • the reason for that graphics decrease is because of the mobile chip they instaled in the new imac range

    just saying ... :)

  • @HaztaUK All iMac have mobile gfx cards. Even the old one in this video.

  • As always great video. Your "old" iMac boots way to long... i have mid 2010 i5 model and it's boot much faster with standard 7200rpm hard drive. Good luck dude

  • @LaczupakabraPL Thanks! I don't think it's always been like that but I probably would not have noticed anyhow since I shut down only infrequently.

  • also i love the featured food

  • @rubix63 Thanks I'm thinking of what food I can use for the next video...

  • are you sure the 2009 imac has an radeon 6770m gpu? i dont think the 6 series were out in 2009.

  • @rubix63 Thanks for catching that. I just fixed it with an annotation.

  • Big disapointment with the GPUs in the new iMacs, still i have no reason why I would buy an iMac.

  • @bffalcon but still... thanks for watching and subscribing!

  • You really need more subscribers, your reviews are really in-depth but still seems exciting with great personality :)

  • @gamer1245 Thanks gamer1245!

  • @gamer1245 i agree
