  • I did not think that this band existed any more. They remind me of a dope dealer I used to know in the seventies, I liked them then and I am very pleased to hear them still on form.Conrad.

  • Whatever happened to the DVD of this that was going to be released?

  • I am completely flumoxed as to why this incedible event has not yet been released on DVD. The footage exists as we can see. The bands management seriously need to pull their respective digits outand make these gentlemen some money. I for one would love to see my money going to these amazing musicians if only as a way of saying thank you for the years of enjoyment they have given me.

  • This is very special for me to find here. I saw the band in Leeds on their first album tour in the early 1970s and loved them for their superb playing and songmaking. I'd love to see them like this today after so many years past. Is this comng on DVD? This is a wonderful moment of nostalgia. Thanks for posting it up.

  • was there it was brilliant!

  • John Williams & Richard Harvey (at right, above) are now doing UK concerts in May 2011, at Sturminster Newton, Ilfracombe, Woking (8 May), Maidstone (10 May), Eastbourne, Reading and the Norfolk & Norwich Festival on 16 May.

  • Is this show coming out on dvd? Love to have that! Great band, been listening for years.

  • I love this band.!

  • This music is great fun.Clever too.

  • Yes! A Gryphon live video! I have longed to watch one.

  • kawał bardzo dobrej muzyki

  • Rass. YA Mer Di Clipyhon.

  • most pleasing music.

    Thanks for posting : )

  • my friends friends dad was the bass player for this band back in the 70's. i was so shocked when i found out that someone from gryphon was so close to me.

  • @Flippywarrior Was your friends friends dad Philip Nester, Malcolm Bennett, or Jonathan Davie?

  • PURE AWSOMENESS!!!!1

  • its hard to find gryphon

  • This is wonderful. Sure wish I could have seen them like this.

  • Oh man, what a great version of the Juniper Suite (miss the gong, but oh well!). Do you have any more videos from this concert, OC? I would love to see more of it.

  • Was that a woman playing guitar, dont remember there being one in the band.

  • The woman was Graeme Taylor!! Still long-haired!

  • Should have recognised him, saw them when they supported Steeleye Span.

  • More concert footage posted! Search for 'Dubbel Dutch'.

  • UNREAL.

One of my favorite MID-EVIL rock bands of the 70's. Right up there with the mad minstrel himself Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull).

    THANK YOU FOR THIS.

Too bad there's no film of them from the 70's.

  • They should cover "Velvet Green"

  • @KingHellstrings Yeah man. They would make a tour with Tull :)

  • Wow Hope they do put this out on video, no way I could have been there, (USA is a bit far from London) They're an amazing band in every way. :)

Looks to have been a great performance... *wistful thoughts...*

  • it must have been an amazing feeling for the band members knowing that they really did have a huge fan base, and over time theyir music reached alot of people, hearing that kind of applause, something they didnt really get much of in the 70s, at least not at this level

    most under-rated band ever

    do a world tour please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Grynd4Lyfe Hear, hear.....nothing more to add, dear sir, the Dutch are a-waiting this kinde of musicke with likewyse pleasure!

  • Plese, please, PLEASE!!! Let this concert be released on DVD in its entirety!!!!!

  • Thanks! Thank you!!! I will be eagerly awaiting that!!

  • Excellent. I remember seeing them as back-up for Yes in the 70's. One of the few times I remember crowds still clamoring for the opening act even as the headliners began their set. Two encores for Gryphon to quell things down.

  • I saw them when they supported Yes - they actually blew Yes off stage so much that Yes called them back to do a joint encore.

They cannot leave it at this - they HAVE to tour again so that those who couldn't get to the reunion can see them again. They are magnificent!

  • Sabía que se reunirían nuevamente. Gracias OakenConsort por colgar este video.

Dyu have more videos about this show?

  • Não acredito até agora que eles retornaram!!! E mantiveram seu som fortemente fiel! Espero por um show aqui no Rio de Janeiro!

I don´t believe until now they had return!! And keep their song high faithful! I wait for a show here in Rio de Janeiro!

  • Hello Modulo 1000! I love the LP Nao Fale Com Paredes. I have the reissue LP wioth triple fold open cover. Awesome!

  • I know about that german reissue. It´s really very awesome, totally close the original cover version.

I´m a friend of Daniel Cardona, guitarrist of Modulo1000, and he´ll like a lot to know you enjoy theirs work!

  • Magnificent! I was fortunate enough to see them Dec 4, 1974 in Dallas as they opened for Yes! I was 15 and in awe just as I am in now watching this! thank you!

  • I was at that same concert. Yes was great and I was impressed with Gryphon. The concert was actually in Ft. Worth. at TCCC.

  • Hey, you're right it was at Tarrant County Convention Center. I had only heard Red Queen at the time. When they played Midnight Mushrumps I was in awe. It took me years to discover Raindance and Treason, which are two faves for me. I also love Richard harvey's Nifty Digits and A New Way Of Seeing.

  • Glad you enjoyed those other Gryphon songs. I have Red Queen to Gryphon Three on vinyl. I wonder if it is on cd.

  • Hi, Yes, I have all 5 on CD (as well as vinyl). They are all available in jewel cases by UK and German manifacturers. Also, in Japan, the 1st 4 were recently printed in Japanese CDs with mini LP cover sleeves. For some reason, they have not done Treason in a Japanese mini LP sleeve. If you look on eBay, you can get them all pretty reasonably. Some fans complained that with Treason they became more progressive and lost the Mideval charm that the earlier LPs had. I still LOVE it tho.

  • Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

  • Brilliant, flawless and uplifting!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Totally awesome! :) Been a huge Gryphon fan for quite some time, and seeing this just made my day.

  • Flawless performance!

  • these guys rule!

  • I wish I was there, truly.... Gryphon is the band that have always inspired me the most, I'll never get tired of hearing them, even though I guess I know every little note by now.

I really hope they're going out on a World Tour. If I had known about this concert, I would have been there, most definitely!!!!

  • Thanks for filming and uploading this. Even though cardboard cutouts would have been more exciting to watch, it's still good to finally get to see them performing live :)

  • I was there too. Gryphon were my favourite band in the Seventies. i never imagined I would hear them live. A dream come true. The applause for Midnight Mushrumps brought the house down.

  • So true. It was fantastic. x.

  • I was sick when they played Atlanta with Yes on the Relayer tour. I'm sick today when I think about it. I'm sicker still - I could have gone to this if I'd paid more attention, but when they postponed, I assumed it wouldn't happen.

Please let there be a DVD, although I don't see any cameras anywhere. Thanks so very much for posting this. Please more if you have it.

  • God, how I wish I could've seen this. Please let there be more

video or a DVD release. Would that they could come to the U.S. one more time. To see/hear them play "Ein Klein

    Heldenleben" .....sheer bliss.

  • Yep. A really good night. One of the best concerts I have ever been too. I was sort of hoping the new album was going to be on the merchandise stall, but ho hum...got a nice t-shirt and a souvenir programme though. I actually sent Mr. Gulland an email the day after to congratulate him, who unfortunatly is to busy playing his krumhorn to reply...ahem. Oh by the way that loud whistel at the end.....was me.

  • Fantastic concert. Didnt want it to end x.

  • I hope they actually will release a new CD...

  • I'm told that they sat down in order to pedal the reed organs! ....and to get the best possible sound from the acoustic instruments......

  • Ah, I don't suppose theres the Red Queen medly floating around at all.

    Cheers for this!

  • This gig was fantastic. I was there and I would watch Gryphon over and over again. Absolutley fantastic. x.

  • If it was clear that the demand existed to justify the cost and effort, I'm pretty sure that Gryphon could be persuaded to make a full-on live performance video. But I think we'd have to more or less collect contact details in advance, almost like a petition, to show it wasn't just a handful of diehard fans who'd go for it. Anyone interested in the idea of starting to get a list going?

  • It was a fantastic gig. Exceeded all my hopes and expectations. Eduardo - thank you for this clip. If you are able to post any more audio or video from the gig, that would be even better.

  • This band wrote some of the most amazing music of this age or in fact, any age. Thanks so much for uploading this. Is there a DVD on the way?

  • Oh yes! what a night to remember... well worth the 32 years wait! Thank you one and all. Chatting to Brian and David after the gig was the icing on the cake. Both jolly nice gentlemen. Huzzahs!

  • We came from Toronto to see this gig, thanks to Eduardo for the heads-up. 2nd row seats! Great performance, great sound, great people. I never thought that I would ever get the chance to hear the band live, or even see live footage. Coming to Toronto soon? Thanks Brian, John, Graham, Graeme, Dave and Richard!

  • I had the privilage of being there. One of the best gigs EVER. I was in a perty of three, my brother and I from Coventry and our best friend who travelled from Chesterfiled the night before. Keep 'em coming guys

  • 32 years and they sound just like if they disbanded yesterday, incredible cohesiveness and energy. A dream come true for the lucky ones who could be present at this historical gig. Let's hope there will be more than this...

  • Thanks. I hope they'll do more gigs, they sound as cohesive as in the old days. Any more clips?

  • Great to see and hear these guys after a long long wait. If only I had been able to see them live! Hope an official DVD will come out soon and Richard Harvey can be persuade by the others to do more. He is playing with John Williams in July though.

  • i want to collect all of their albums

  • Gryphon = Best Band Ever

  • Like waking up in wonderland.

    5*****'s, and thank you

    for posting this OC!

    Cool runnings to you...

    ~ Tim
