  • what the fuck did their parents feed them.

  • @NothingMuchTooHear

My guess is large amounts of finger steroids and awesomeness

  • 'are you gonna keep that?'

    'well, you never know..'

    1994, terra firma

  • Meh.. They were literally born in sync.. God damn that is some good stuff.

  • I'd played 25 secs townhall shuffle ( slower indeed ) and went directly to hospital after cuz my wrist twisted .....

  • jebote!!

  • there's two of them???? jesus, what fun they seem to be having :)

  • They look at each other with a ton of respect and pride!!!

    Thanks for postin'.

  • C'mon lads.....up the tempo a bit please!! You're slacking here!! Ho ho!!

  • I consider myself fortunate to have seen the Emmanuel Brothers play at my local pub way back in the late 70's/early 80's. Tommy was yet to rise to the level of stardom that he now enjoys but it was obvious back then that these two brothers were destined for greatness.

  • Are their guitars made of titanium or something? Most guitars I know would blow up from the immense awesomeness...

  • there's always been two of them Tommy is the younger of the two brothers

  • phil is no where near as good as tommy, more arrogant too

  • @XJayStudiosX Phil is far superior to Tom. Always has been. Yeah he's a bit arrogant but he is the guitar player of the brothers whilst Tom is the entertainer. To see Phil live is a scary experience.

  • @gemusic1 Phil has the speed, Tommy has the rhythm (plus the entertainment feeling). A great difference according to me... But remember that music is not a competition. They don't play together, they are only one.

  • @a1z1e1r1t Without getting into meaningless debates, I was responding to a comment that Tommy was far better than Phil. Phil IS the better player (a fact that Tommy will tell anybody who wants to listen) both speed and artistically so I'd prefer to believe him . Whilst not a competition top players are always competitive (that's what makes it exciting and builds our craft). Like all 'battles' between greats, watch them carefully, they ARE competing in a good way that joins them. .

  • @a1z1e1r1t Sorry ran out of space. Any musician worth their salt - Classical to Heavy Metal is 'artistically' competitive. The thrill of the battle for art's sake is something you have to experience to undertstand. Just watch two greats (of any musical genre) when they get together on a stage and play together, they compete (hey It's not war!). Tommy and Phil? 2 more competitive brothers you will not find........

  • @a1z1e1r1t One last thing (I wish they'd give more space here for comments!) If music isn't a competition why did you state that Phil has more speed and Tommy more Rhythm? According to you it makes no difference. How many times have you heard Phil play solo? amazing in ALL respects.

  • Two human beings touched by the hand of God ...

  • With that speed this must have been a pretty short concert xD

  • Wonderful

  • is phil playing tommy's TE1??

  • @RaptorJMR yeah, the worn down finish makes it look like it

  • Oh lordy, I'm pretty young so I caught on to Tommy E just a little while ago, saw him live first chance I had. Now seeing this I'd do it again! O_O

  • booked to see them 18/12/2010 in Adelaide...seen TM a few times - and yes, parked the Tele away for a while....16 years!!

  • Wouldn't be surprized if Mom & Dad played too!

  • @1954tele Their Mum taught them and they were playing at the age of 4 years old!

  • @vixenflower ; Thanks for the heads up. Somehow the news that they were playing together at 4 doesn't surprise me. Actually good news allows the rest of us who play guitar a little dignity. Gotta go-hopefully I can pull my guitar from the trash before it;s picked up !

  • you would sell your mum AND FAMILY I WOULD SELL MY ass DAM STRAIGHT UP OUCH LOL

  • this video demonstrates the cruelty man kind inflicts on the guitar pick

  • too much

  • Phil was at my tafe last year. Touching base with my Graphic Design teacher, who did Phils new album design. AND I DIDN'T HAVE THE COURAGE TO SAY HI!!!!!!!!! FUCKEN SHOOT ME.

  • reincarnation of some guitar god

  • I've got three of tommy's picks and they are fat bastards (purple with a turtle image on them).

Great to see these two playing together... I was asked to open for Phil when he last came to town (pretty funny considering I play mostly Tommy's stuff) but he ended up being too drunk to take to the stage... :(

  • @XRogerMellieX these picks are dunlop tortex 1.14mm?

  • I used to sit on my Pop's lap and watch Town Hall Party with Joe Maphis holy shit!!! I'm amazed people outside of the US have ever heard of him. My Pop went out and bought a Moserite because he saw Maphis shredding the shit out of it. Good times let me tell ya'.

  • Fuck me, i thought there was an actual debate on who was the best guitarist in the world.... I just found both of em

    Mikey xx

  • Yeah for my money, Tommy is the best guitarist there is. There's nobody more technically brilliant.

  • These guys really should do a show with Greg Koch. That would be the ultimate

  • haha Phil Totally looks like eddie van halen

  • LOL ! "Turkish"

It's amazing how they synchronize those fast notes without a drummer or metronome

  • brothers mate - siblings often have some freaky rhythm thing going on

phil does look like EVH too...

years ago phil saw a band I was in & came backstage to say he liked my playing. Didn't know who he was at the time. Means a whole lot more after I watch this... ;-)

  • I agree = he does look like Edward

I think I replied to the wrong comment - there was something funny with the word turkish in it that made me laugh. It's "Boogathon" 's down below. I think you could be right on about the brother synchronicity

  • Awesome!!

  • These guys can mock every guitarist ever and turn every song into bilion notes per second joke and they do and they get awaty with it. rotfl.

  • Phil looks like Eddie Van Halen!!

  • Hey, these two guys were awesome! Mannnnn!

  • Both of them are outstanding at solos, But i just love Tommys rhythm playing on these vids, so so tight..

  • Let me put things into perspective:

I would sell my mother, my sisters, and my nephews into Turkish slavery to be able to play one-half as good as either of them. A quarter, even!

And my dog. Plus my best friend.

    One sixteenth!! I'm begging you.

  • Or you could just practice. I imagine that's how they did it.

  • @boogathon u are evil !! tho i get the feeling...

  • @boogathon

What is with this Turkish stuff you fuckhead?

  • @rappain haha leave him alone, he's from usa, he doesn't know shit XD

  • @boogathon What about 10 years of free time? That's what they gave up....

  • Anyone else notice that phil emmanuel is so much better at hitting high notes on the e string than tommy? Tommy seems to mess up on them, and phil is so much smoother. Still both great guitar players.

  • I disagree, I feel that Phil is much more sloppy than Tommy. Tommy just feels so much tighter than Phil in my opinion. Each to their own though. :)

  • Surprisingly, their right hands hands different styles...It seems as though Phil plays more with his wrist (single notes), while Tommy has that !@#$ up "anchored ring/pinky finger forearm style" (even when playing single notes)...

  • i feel inadequate as aguitar player after seeeing this clip.aybe i should play banjo lol

  • They sped the original song up like 53478957430925 times. But for them that's normal speed..........Goodness thats amazing guitar playing.....

  • its said that aparently phil was on track to be even better than tommy but drink got in the way, but then again, even now, FUCKING EPIC. :)

  • Rapid!

  • oha incredible x)

  • Daaaammmnn )) Just wonna throw my guitar out the window XD

  • just sublime ... freaks of nature those two

  • listening to these 2 amazing brothers is total joy...............YEAH!!

  • They are the best I have ever seen!

  • very good.... jamming

  • this is insane!!

  • What a combo. Is it just me or does Phil look the crazier of the two?

  • Very genieus men are sometimes very strange xD

  • these guys are just incredible. the combo is just amazing...i bought the terra firma album for it

  • AWESOME!

  • fcking good :)

  • who is phil?

    sorry,I should know that but I don't:/

  • his brother

  • alright, thats what i thought but i wasn't sure..i'm gonna look him up and see if i find something about him

  • much better ?!? maybe as good as .. how to be better than TE ???

  • "How to be" is shitty grammar. What you meant to say is "how can he be."

Don't know why the guy got negged. Phil may very well be better. Who knows? Phil and Tommy have been playing music together since they were little kids.

  • And it clearly shows :)

A wonderful duo in any case.

  • wow!!!!! im speechless

  • Comment removed

  • Perfect together.

  • totaly whit you tommy is totaly sick.. but together its ACE.. check Irish and scottish medly and look when there hands are close up together .. thats amazing

  • amazing.

  • pretty wonderful amazing....

thats above the intelligence of the normal guitarist

  • the synchronization is amazing

  • I wonder why Tommy is more famous than Phil. They are both great, but I think that Tommy has greater personality :)

  • ggg gg gggg g shit. awesome.

  • they are brothers and fully compatible with each other!

  • Is there any chance or possibility to play faster? no way ;D

  • @michauvon there probably is. but it wouldn't sound so awessome! These guys are just amazing!

I have 2 live dvd's with TE at home and i think i listen to them everry day in some way. little parts here and there :D

  • Totally awesome!!!

  • Nohing to say... WOW

  • That was magic right in your face :-)

  • GREAT

  • holy shit!!! AMAZING!

  • lol.. two? m\noy human :-)(

  • this is like roller coaster ride: terrifying and fun !

  • wtf!? There's two of them now??

  • thats his brother.

  • @tomp8 Ah.....always has been two of them since they were kids.

  • @tomp8 I went to see their 50th Anniversary Tour last night in Sydney. They've been playing together since they were small children. National treasures, the both of them.

  • @nervybanana so did i! it was efking amazing!

  • @nervybanana same here - great show, especially getting to hear some tracks of Determination!

  • Fantastic!

  • yea tommy is the one that always does the chords more. he is the rythem part of the duo

  • they both look alike. tommy is the one with the shorter hair right?

    awesome song

  • DIOS MIO!

esto es talento, esto es perfeccion y con guitarras acusticas...

por estas demostraciones Tommy Emmanuel es mi heroe.

  • This is pro.

  • GREAT JOBB GUYS!! Tommy RULES on guitar.

  • "Best of the Best"category.

  • reminds me of the car chases in the dukes of hazzard

  • WOW! That's all I can say.

  • Wish i could have been there , that place is only 5 minuites away from where i live :(

  • love phils boots :)

  • are they brothers??

  • Yes

  • Look how these two fellows are having fun while going on fire with their guitars. They made me smile everytime I see'em havin' fun pals, enit.

  • Phil, Just found you. Amazing as ever. It's been many years since you were at The Barn after the Gladstone gig in the 80's if you can remember. I'll never forget, what a night. I'd love to get in touch.

  • and youtube is the way to do it.

  • Amazing!

  • i wish tommy was my father. then i would have a great teacher for free

  • omfg...that goes little too far man... I would say i wish tommy emmanuel was my guitar teacher .

  • haha but guitarteachers is expensive. if he was my father it would for free=). but ok. not father. uncle or something

  • Make your mom divorce your dad and marry a kind guitarist, or go back in time. Choice's yours.

  • i take that back this song is 2 l33t for a tab ill just have to learn it by ear

    SHIT

    *wastes hours after hours*

  • lol haha had a reality check did we :)

  • did you just say that, learning a song by ear only is a waste?...lol

  • is there any tabs for this song? i love it

  • You havin a laugh?! pfff no chance mate...

  • haha tabs, makes me laugh...

  • the same melody is replayed over and over again, and it's just fast, it wouldn't be that hard to tab. i personally couldn't do it, but i can't tab anything so that's not saying much.

  • è proprio vero....A CHI TROPPO E A CHI NULLA:-(..they are great!!!!!!!

  • Ufff... great :-)

  • gods!

  • Fortunately, the vast majority of the population eat and drink c... and listen to it, leaving very few to appreciate the finest things in life without the crowds :)

  • yes..Big Brothers !!!

  • Now this is shredding!

  • It's simply unbelievable

  • Tommy & Phil have been 2 of the best living guitarists in the world for several decades now, both have played on countless albums as unnamed session artists, Tommy is one of a select few to be awarded the Chet Atkins award for guitarists, and I was priveleged to hear them both play lead guitar with Goldrush in the early 80's in Sydney. Anyone can buy an effects pedal, but Tommy & Phil can really play guitar, acoustic, electric, you name it. BTW Tommy is equally good on drums.

  • Meanwhile, hiphop artists are living in their mansions, writing cliched; sell-out lyrics for their next album, well aware of their status as being set for life.

Such a fucking shame how the greatest musical talents lie hidden within local bars and backyard parks.

  • Very well put but what can you do when the public demand what can only be described as the shit of todays music. What a shame for true talent

  • I have to disagree with you. You look at popular culture from perspective of someone who obviously always has been interested in something more than top 10 charts. Compare crap music of today with crap from 30 years ago and you'll see that what we have today is not that bad.

  • I don't really think it's that much of a shame actually. I mean, would you really want the whole cafe-gig atmosphere to disappear and instead have these guys perform in 100k stadiums?

I think they're really happy with their musical careers and like the idea that they are something unique. They don't really need mass-TV coverage when you have such a loyal following of fans :-)

  • well put

  • shit...this is fast

  • aww

  • i don't know tommy had brother

they are really dedicated to guitar

    amazing

  • haha awesome.

  • holy crap thats skill

  • I never get into that pointless argument over who's the best guitarist in the World- there is no such thing, it's a matter of opinion. I would say however that these brothers are two of the most amazing guitarists on the planet.

  • that's just... jaw dropping! Their plectrums must be 1/2 the size by the end of it:P

  • His brother, Tommy Emmanuel has better style.

  • geez

  • 2 words Chet Atkins....

  • these guys are geniuses

  • Back in the early 1980's these guys used to play quite regularly at the "Greengate" Pub (Sydney).Back in those days it was free to see them, they were just there to help sell more beer! What an amazing experience (as a young guitarist myself) to see these guys in action.

  • why aren't those strings melting????

why arent' they traveling through time with that speed? 0_0

  • nope. they're just crazy in every meaning of the word.

  • They are on fast forward!!

  • your kidding me.

  • Only guitar players who could probably play like this is Jerry Reed, Glen Campbell or John Jorgenson

  • And Mclaughlin, and Paco de Lucia, And Tomatito, and Al Demiola, and Vicente Amigo... and the list goes on.

Not saying these are bad though... they are great performers. But lets not forget the other great ones.

  • can't believe what i just saw. are these brothers from this earth?

  • Nope, they have another thumb on their palm. It's how they play so fast.

  • Tommy must be a robot ,the realy high speed is in songs Tall fidler ,the hunt ,guitar boogie....

  • and classical gas ....and more

  • The only person I can think of that can pick as good or maybe better is Ricky Skaggs.

  • having seen pretty well every video on youtube of either person... skraggs has nothing on tommy. he can do anything with a guitar - look up intination (spelling?) by tommy and see what i mean.

    Skraggs is good though.

  • Anybody know where to find tabs??

  • like you could play that if you had the tabs. give me a break

  • Wild!

  • haha! AMAZING!

  • oh my god!

  • Challenge.... Anybody. Anywhere. Anywhen. Name two brothers who can play the guitar better than these two.

  • Name any 2 guys in the same band who play like that, let a-lone brothers.

  • Name two people who can play better than these two lol
