  • if i used a nt-h1 on the havik will it be cooler?

  • My i5 @ 4.5 GHZ gets 29 degrees just at idol, and when I benchmark it it gets 60 degrees (MAX)

  • h100 or noctua nh d14?

  • Is the Noctua NH d 14 compatible with the AM3+ processors?

  • Tom what fans would you recommend for this cooler?

  • You said NH-D14 is more silent. Well, check out the tweaktown review. There the NZXT is 32DB under load and Noctua 51DB. :D

  • why your video card hasn't power connectors on the top?it looks like the 6870 like mine but mine has the power connectors on the top O.o

  • @Gialuk1992 It depends on what brand it is. Some of them have the power connectors on the end.

  • Hello Tom,

Exactly just how cheaper is it than the Noctua nh d14? because the latter is still at around $89-99$ here in canada.

it seemed a bit louder than the noctua, it definitely not sound like a 25 dba to me as mentioned, if you were to give a dba off the top of your head, how much would u say it would be?

any recommendation for a thermal paste? iv got the artic silver mx3, do u recommend something else perhaps better?

finally, would I encounter any problems fitting it on the lga2011?

  • @chrono28solid on a lighter note: when do you think the new nvidia kepler cards are going to be revealed this year?

what do you think of the NZXT 810 Switch case?

  • I use Arctic Silver 5 :P

  • so would this fit on a asrock fatal1ty 990fx

with 2 sticks of vengence ram

  • Could Someone Please Recommend me a good Thermal Paste?

  • Well , I think that there is so low difference between D14 and Havik is cos Havik has better fans , I would love to see results on D14 with Havik's Fans :(

  • @FliskerX - NZXT Official web - Unique fan blades provide quiet 27.8 dBA operation and highly effective airflow of 90.3 CFM , There is no way D14 could even get close to 90CFM

  • 'i'm trying to do this really quick' - Don't lie to us Tom. :P

  • i use arcit silver 5 :P but it is the only thermal paste that comes in greece ... :(

  • Ups I mean Tom of couse. This Tiny Tom Logan always sounds like Tony and somehow that was burned in my mind, even with the knowledge of what he actually says :D

  • very good video Tom as usual thanks. time to clean up that D14 eh ???? havik looks a good single tower cooler though. will still stick with my D14 though.

  • 09:04 - 09:10 omg!

  • @surviveasl Actually it's not moving at all! I have the Havik on a ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/GEN3 and it sits extremely tight and doesn't move a bit. To be honest it sits so good that i was afraid in the screws might even be too tight.

I'm not sure if it's because of the motherboard or what Tony did wrong/different.

  • @Spanksh His name is TOM tiny tom logan

  • @Ri1seAgainst I know... If you would have read my very next comment, you would have realized that i accidentally wrote tony. ;)

  • @Spanksh ah, well your comment appears in the top comments for me so... yeah lol

  • @Ri1seAgainst Lol you're right for me too x) No idea why..especially since my comment doesn't even have a thumbs up O.o

  • Whats wrong whit the Arctic Silver 5??

  • @horatimetalero It's old, overated while there are much better patstes out there.

  • Would you recommend the Thermal Paste that comes with the Noctua NHD-14?

  • @pappachese I would yes :)

  • @pappachese It's been proven to be about as good as Arctic Silver 5

  • with that bombshell? was that a top gear reference?

  • Well i finally found the reason myself. Seems like it's as always, if you want to know something find it out by yourself...

Thanks for nothing everyone. It wouldn't be SO hard to tell me that 3pins are not PWM controlled.

  • Can someone tell me the best AIR cooler with tall dominator ram?

  • @qttytn lol video answered my question

  • should i get the Havik or should i just get vengeance LP and the noctua nh-d14?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Hi there! I have a important but probably very stupid question: I just built a whole new PC the first time in my live (always just upgraded my old system). I'm using the NZXT Havik but it doesn't change speeds according to the temperature? I'm using Asus FAN Xpert to test if it is working, but between 20% and 100% there is only a difference of 4rpm (1145-1149). Is that normal? I plugged one Fan into CPU_FAN and the other one in CPU_FAN_OPT (the OPT one is actually running at

  • @Spanksh 150rpm more than the other one). Did i do something horribly wrong or is it meant to be that way? I also thought about you mentioning not to plug the fans into the normal CPU_FAN connectors but i didn't really understand where else i should get the power for them :/ I would be happy if you, or somebody else could help me with that.

  • I like the end....lol.

  • What is the best air cooler ? i still think Noctua is....

  • Just realised Tom that your nzxt fans wern't exactly on correctly :/

  • fuckk this cooler is out of stock EVERYWHERE.

  • @Serutos not on newegg.

  • Hello Tom, great video as usual. Are you going to change your test rig cooler to the Havik, or are you sticking with the D14?

  • @smallpebble7 wont be using the Havik dude

  • Ic Diamond 24

  • Damn you again with the krispy kremes!

  • I wished that they put some caps or covers on the ends of the heatpipes that stick out the block instead of leaving them like this imho-.-

  • Brand new nzxt vs old dusty nh-d14, the nh-d14 did a little better with temperatures and the BRAND NEW nzxt beats the DUSTY OLD nh-d14????? if the nh-d14 was brand new it would have completely beat the nzxt

  • @TheAnonymousGreek 50$ or 50more$ for 5degrees @ 50$ this thing is better than the coolers at that price range

  • @anhiirr yea thats true too

  • @TheAnonymousGreek as it should. it costs double the price, and has two! heat sinks. but you also have to remember, hes not the only one to run these tests. other reviewers who use new products are all getting the same results. for the price and the fact that its a single heat sink, its one of, if not the best heat sinks on the market. with a fan replacement, you could even have quieter (possibly better) performance, and still cost less then the D14

  • Hey tom I have a question I dont know where to ask it, basically one of my top fans is making a noise like its hitting something as its spinning, now nothing at all is hitting it and I put WD-40 the grease stuff on the bearing, it was fine for like a week now its back again, is it anything to be concerned about?

    Richard

  • @KonvictedArts WD40 isnt good to use in your pc because its conductive for starters. If its not hitting anything then its faulty mate and needs to be rma'd

  • hey TOM how do u feel about ram coolers? i mean, i do know that ram doesnt get hot and all that, but i bought some dominators GT and it came with the ram cooler, and i tought it will look better, and to be honest i think it looks great, considering that i just have 2 sticks (2gb x2)

  • @serginho778 completely pointless mate. IMHO its a n0000b badge

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms

JAJAJA yea i guess u could say that nowadays, n00b badge and everything but i think it looks better than 2 lonely sticks :C i may take that off then, dont want to appear something that im not :p, BTW im trying to catch up with ur vids, but sadly dont have to much of a time lately

  • @serginho778 it being a noob badge is a bit exaggerated. :) Sure it doesnt make much sense, but there are also waterblocks for RAM, and many people i know use it, purely for looks, and no theyre not noobs :p using the ram fans for the looks doesnt make you look like a noob imo :)

  • @ch1ck3n08

thats what i was thinking, just for the looks

  • @ch1ck3n08 Exactly. I haven't bothered with CCT's but my RAM cooler looks good and doesn't have loads of wiring.

  • @lewisner

u cant almost really see any wire in my rig... LOL

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms Nice bit of eye candy though. I got the Geil Cyclone and it looks great.

  • Are you gonna do anything on the Akasa Venom Toxic case + the Venom Voodoo cooler, ive just bought it and its downstairs :) the cooler and case have great ratings

Also I want to have 100% on my CPU fans all the time, how do i do this? because most wires dont reach that far from what ive heard

    thanks ;) loving the vids

  • hey mate i like the NH-D14 I just bought ty very quiet. i also like you modeling in those polo shirts. yaaaauuuuuu!!!!!!!!:)

  • @MrComputereviews what is the point in that reply?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms was bored

  • :)))) super funny ;)

  • Stop watching Top Gear right before recording your conclusions =D

  • ooo fuck

  • NZXT: make a twin tower of this!

  • I am also curious to hear what thermal paste you would then recommend.

I am currently using the Noctua paste that is bundled with the D14, but it'll end / go stale eventually.

Back in the Core2Duo days I used something called "Coollab Liquid Pro" and itt temps wise it was great, also beat everything in reviews. Its a liquid metal in a syringe- kind of thing though so it can be nasty once it dries and solidifies on the cpu heatspreader. Theyve released a Coollab Liquid Extreme since then.

  • noctua or h100 for overclocking?

  • i7 950 4.4 ghz 1.45v Noctua NH-D14 =97 c

    i7 2500k 4.4ghz 1.3v Stock intel Cooler =76 c XD

  • @club4ghz ouch i5 i mean

  • @club4ghz you cant compare 2500k with 950, 950 consumes more heat.

  • @3dkiller consumes heat :O?

  • Conclusion: 21.20

  • My slight OCD makes me hate you a little for mounting the fans wrongs. x.x

  • lmao if you talk this much to a women i bet they are asleep before you get to do the deed. just picking love the videos

  • love that you didnt cut out the end bit :D great review, hopefullt nzxt will stop being silly and start sending you stuff on time.

  • NZXT Havik one problem does not see LGA2011 anywhere so i gess for me i will have to buy a NH-D14 then

  • So mate, this one will work with the tall ram, its about time someone made one that would work with it. Haha, my problems are solved, I can have my cake and eat it too.

  • What cpu paste would you recommend then? I've only ever seen people talk about AS5. I'm all ears though if you can tell me about a better one.

  • @TheIronCalves A cheap and effective paste would be Artic Cooling MX-2, MX-3. Many people love the the Shin Etsu paste, but it is expensive for some. If you don't remove your CPU often, spending a few bucks won't hurt at all.

  • @TheIronCalves AS5 USED to be good when they didn't have much available. Now it sucks compared to the ones that we now have. Its good for a temporary solution. :P

  • Comment removed

  • @TheIronCalves

    Arctic MX-2 is heaps better.

  • @TheIronCalves Get some indigo extreme

  • @TheIronCalves MX-4

  • @TheIronCalves 9:15 He used/uses the Noctua NT-H1 paste, which is very good.

  • You don't get these in-depth reviews anywhere else on YT. When I first started viewing I thought the reviews were way too long but now I'm a bit disappointed if they're less than 20 minutes.

When a new video is posted I grab myself a beer (or tea, depending on the time of day) and immerse myself in it. Long may that experience continue.

  • not bad which one is better this or the Noctua or the H80

  • @points2shopPROOF Noctua easily :p

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms how about the h100

  • @points2shopPROOF noctua

  • Hey @TimeToLiveCustoms what thermal paste would you personally recommend? The Noctua or maybe some Artic Silver 5? I need to get some because this coolermaster stuff is terrible. Was gonna get some at Microcenter but I might get some off Newegg.

  • @madgnad Shin-etsu is good stuff.

  • This cooler reminds me of the Thermalright Archon which seems very popular. I wonder how the two compare?

  • @perdomot yeah, that's what I want to know since ages, too...

guys, please give perdomot thumbs up, so that tom can see his comment

  • If AS5 shouldn't be used, what is the TTL preferred thermal compound?

  • I still like my STOCK Extreme Intel. 35nm 6 core Gulftown Heatsink better !! Both at 4.0Ghz and 4.2 Ghz it out Performs the Havok and the Nochua !! Using MX 2 paste it idols at 27c and running prime for a hour never goes over 42c at 4 Ghz.. That's with a room temp of 20c and will take a video to prove it ! I know many won't beleve it but Tom I swear it to be true ! Oh and my voltage is 1.256 volts ...

  • @PhatboyHD88 Video or GTFO.

  • dude!!

i still use arctic silver 5 and works just fine!!:P

    no prob with it

  • @pleite567 works for me too, still great stuff,

  • why do you breathe with your mouth?

  • Great review, complimented by a funny moment right at the end. :D :D

  • Tom, isn't it nice to be surprised by a vendor? I always love when I do give a vendor a second chance and they come through and perform great. Hopefully this will loosen things up with ya'll and give you more wiggle room with them and in getting more products from them to review. Well done.

  • nice that you left the "outtake" in the end ;) i really like people that actually can laugh about themselves =)

  • Heh, nice job NZXT. But the wobbly mount...

I really want to se a review with the CoolerMaster Storm Trooper and 2 rads in. One at the top (240 or 280mm) and one at the bottom (240mm) with max thickness possible and a hot GPU in the loop. That would be just great!

  • Hi Tom, Love your review keep up the good work.

  • Any news on those Noctua 2011 coolers they were hyping about at Computex a few months back?

  • been waiting for this Tom, seeing as i have a D14 with 3 fan configuration and it always does well. I must say, this is tempting, with doing so well on a single tower. Good review mate.

  • I think I'd rather this than the D14 just becuase of the size.

  • 30:53 lol

  • wobbly mount that killed it for me

  • Mind the french Tom!!

  • i would like to see both coolers 'heat sink's mass calculated to see which one is the smallest...then scale that on their temps....bit overkill but still lol.

  • Single tower cooler, fits with ram, fans look great, performs like the NHD14... WIN! I'l be having one of these. Great work NZXT!

  • Nice shirt Tom. :)

  • Pls pls Tom review the rx360(60mm) kit by xspc. And can I add an gpu water block with it within the same pumps loop

  • good video, and have a proppa good crimbo scott carson.

  • i feel like krispy kreme now

  • is also cheap LOL

  • What's his monitor model?

  • about fucking time lol

  • Hmm. Artic silver 5 is old? What is better then? any suggestions?

  • @SirGomez81

24-Diamond Karat. However, AS5 is like 5-6$. 24 Diamond Karat is like 25-30$. For only 2-3c max difference.

  • I was going to buy the new NZXT Havik, but then I took an arrow to the knee!

  • Can you replace the 140 fans with quieter 120 fans?? Does it let you mount 120's?

  • why's it always hotter in the room when you use the NZXT cooler?

  • @00101110o

probably because he does all the Noctua tests at once... and then does the NZXT tests so by the time he did the noctua tests it gets hotter.

  • @00101110o He obviously done all the NZXT tests one after the other so my guess is during that part of the day his house was at its hottest! maybe the heating was on lol getting cold these days! :)

  • Lmao...gigormous!

  • Great video. Quite a surprise.

  • This cooler is god damn ugly and cheap looking. Nice performance though.

  • love your x-mas tree tom! <3

  • Great video

  • Time soon for you to move off of the socket 1366 ,..

  • @BarackMcBush WHy move off of 1366? It is a hot CPU which tests the heatsinks... If he went to something cooler it would make it easier for the manufacturers to build their heatsinks... Keep the heat on and lets hope NZXT make a dual tower version... That might kick the D-14 out the water

  • @vjarjadian Because it is now 2 generations old and is nearing obsolescence, If what you are saying is the case , he should be testing on a Pentium D system. #HA!

  • Might just go with this when I get a new cooler, seeing as the D-14 is the most ugly cooler on the face of the planet.

  • This will work great with my P3 cpu. I will even overclock it a bit.

  • Is the mic okay? lol

  • Can't wait for Noctua to release the new coolers they showed at computex

  • Always going 12V molex for cpu heatsink? Noctua spoiled you or its only for testing I hope, otherwise its going fullretard...

Some small difference in 12V matters little to the power of all mighty "speedfan" soft, the best friend of every overclocker who also has ears.

Though would be interesting if you would lead out sensor cable from a fan in to mobo connector and show rpm when on molex, and then test the non-autistic way connecting it directly to the mobo. and see the difference, if any.

  • I heard you mention that AS5 is really old and not good thermal paste to use. What do you recommend?

  • dude you are the best!

  • Hey again Tom. For how long should i run prime to consider my pc stable? Some reviews say for less than an hour and some other say for like 12 hours or something. I really like your reviews and appreciate your sayings. Testing my 950 atm at 4.4 ghz and it seems pretty stable at almost 30mins with settings x21 209.5 bus speed and 1.445 voltage with max temp at 80.

  • @skatagmt download OCCT put in linpack mode, infinate, 90% free memory used. If you can run that for 4-6 hours and it is stable and doesnt get too hot then you should be onto a winner.

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms I think you should wear glasses; even if you don't need them. Just fake ones, I guess. I think they'd fit amazingly well.

  • @Mkilbride2599 WTF are you talking about?

  • @TimeToLiveCustoms cheers tom

  • @skatagmt if you are finding the "perfect" overclock speed, probably 3-6hrs. Once you have "found" it, most folks usually leave it for 12-24hours for overall stablity. its not just the CPU heatsink that comes to play, the vrms, mosfets had to be cooled down as well.

  • @rustyscope ty for the info m8

  • @skatagmt Just to let you know. I ran my 950 at similar voltages. It degraded over time. My temps were mid 65s with dedicated watercooling. You really don't want to exceed 1.4 volts on those chips.

  • @Hostilenemy ill keep that in mind. thanks dude. really intense driving btw. 1st time i see someone that good in a driving game like gran turismo

  • @skatagmt Lol thank you.

  • joyeux noel tom salutations de france

  • It's not just a D-14, it's THE D-14!

  • From some test I've seen, the thermal paste matters very little, so even the generic one in the box is most likely just fine with difference like 1-2°C to some expensive ones.

  • Have you tried the Thermalright Venomous X?

  • 30:53 - Ooh fuck.

    Haha.

  • @BetaOverclocking I'm crying, lol. That was so funny.

  • Hmm.. my friend has this, and I installed it for him and the heatsink doesn't move AT ALL. That was very wierd when I saw it moving around for you. He was using an AMD board though so it has a little different procedure to install.

  • AS5 maybe old but it still works and gives good results.

  • lOl i use a space technology thermal paste which cost around $100 a tube.

this stuff is amazing got my CPU cooler for more around 10c less heat. which awesome.

  • What da hick!

  • X-mas case Build FTW!

  • In some ways this is better than the D-14 just because of the form factor ...

  • TT Good job on this one. I really like the Christmas tree as well.....
