Typical redneck cop assholes. (Yes, even black guys can be redneck assholes.)
They demand ultimate immediate action to their "orders", legal or not. "YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!!"
HOWEVER, the main asshole pig that attacked the photographer really has a set of pipes on him. He should be a TV/Radio announcer. What a voice. I wonder how many people he has falsely arrested wondered about his voice? Am I being arrested by a commercial announcer?
This is what happenes when you shoot a relative of a cop while on 911 asking for help. If you go to you tube Erie Parties /Joel Atkin there is the 911 call which is missing 20 to 30 seconds,a video of me telling what I want answers to,and below the video is the link to Face Book which has all the papers supporting my questions and what my son said happened that day.If you see self defence please send to as many people as you can and add to your playlist.Stay safe out thereThank You and God Bless
@CheapJabroni So filming the cops is starting trouble with them? You do realize that the government films you every day right? You also realize that that say officer he was filming had a camera in his hand right? Do you hate America and our Constitutional rights?
@CheapJabroni Because you just said this guy is an asshole for exercising his 1st Amendment right and filming police. Why?
Why should that officer have a problem with citizens filming his? Is he doing something wrong that he doesn't want recorded?
Do you think it is ok that these officers lied to him and falsely imprisoned him, just because they got butt hurt? These cops are no better then the thugs they claim to protect us from.
@1775novten Fair enough, you have your opinion, I just do my best to respect people who are put in position of power, perhaps that trust is misplaced at times, but generally I feel that is best. As far as the other stuff, I care very much for my country and am very fortunate to live here.
@CheapJabroni I respect that. But I do want to point out that if you truly respect this country and the Constitution, then you would be outraged at what these officers whom we've entrusted with their authority did to this citizen. I don't care if they felt disrespected. The law is the law and they violated it and this man's rights. They should be ashamed of themselves and it's apparent they didn't take their oath to heart.
So...it's irrelevant who's Black or White or Purple...
What IS relevant is, who is a guard dog for the elite power structure, as opposed to who is a citizen exercising their civil liberties under the US Constitution.
@kidnick101 Can you believe these thugs hiding behind a badge actually charged him with failing to identify? I mean how many times in this video did he say his name and present his ID. Luckily all his charges were dropped, but I don't think anything ever happened to the crooked cops.
@akaknocksville Classy! Do you think white people should be the only ones exercising their rights? Do you think police should be able to violate black citizens as they see fit?
You have wasted your life trying so hard to be the perfect racist, to the extent that you clearly don't know the difference between ' SHOULD OF' (which is totally wrong, by the way) and ' SHOULD HAVE'. My advice to you: Take off the sheets and pillowcase, and start investing in yourself before it's too late!
Love how the police officer was whining about being filmed but he himself is sitting in the car taking pictures of the people walking in front. Hypocrisy.
@MageDb0w The cop has NO rights NOT to be recorded in public. You and your family have no rights not to be recorded once you step out in public. I can come to your home and stand outside your window and record your family if the shades are open.
@MageDb0w I bet you $100 that you can't find a law that says that you can't record a cop or any person while in public. Until you find me that law, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Te guy had every right to record the cop sitting in his car, it doesn't matter if he's on duty or off duty.
@policecrimecom And No, you cannot go and record people from outside learn that you stupid cunt, where the fuck do you read your law? fakelaws dot com? considering your retarded username and posting retarded shit, then I could just setup cameras around someones house "SINCE IT'S NOT ILLEGAL" oh wait.
@MageDb0w Yes and so does that Federal court system. Check out the most recent case of glik v. cunniffe, which was heard by First Circuit Federal Court of Appeals.
@MageDb0w What about the citizens that don't want to be recorded by police? Look in the cop's hand - he is holding a camera, because he was taking pictures of the citizens.
The camera man is the liar, he was obviously recording the officer. At the start of the video the camera was zoomed on the officer for 5 full secs, and once he looked up at him, the camera man hurry's and turns away like nothing happen...And in some cases the police can make you put the cam away, it depends on the situation..
@brandenlee887 Can you cite one example? I agree the camera lied about intentionally recording them, but do you also agree that the officers lied as well? And that the officers unlawfully seized his property and threw him in a cage. And to top it off, they then falsified their police report and claimed this man refused to identify himself. You may not agree with the cameraman, but he was well within his rights and the officers violated their oath.
@BobDole85037 I'm not aware of anything happening to either officer, even though they lied to him, assaulted him, falsely arrested him, and lied on the police report - but that's nothing unusual.
it's funny because you would HOPE that a black police officer might have a little bit of experience with what it is like to be oppressed.... yet he continues to perpetuate the same sort of behaviour to his fellow man.
@2007TypeR Surprisingly, black officers habitually oppress their own people - often times even to a greater extent than white officers. I have no idea what causes this, but you see it all the time.
I'm not sure if you've seen the video of someone asking a black about enforcing unconstitutional laws and asked him if he would enforce segregation if it were still in place and he said that he would. Unbelievable.
"two misdemeanors - unlawfully refusing to give his name and disorderly conduct. "
He gave his ID, and his full name. The police started the disorderly conduct by swarming him like bees on honey. Then the people came and stood idly by.
Why this has become such a trend beats the hell out of me...just looking for trouble, and brother officers, don't make a big deal out of it...so what? smile and wave, use it as your aid, use your tac comm and seize later for evidence, the camera can be your friend so why make it an enemy!
@TheOfficerBell How is recording a government agency in the conduct of his duties equate to looking for trouble? He didn't say a single word to that officer. The cop is the one who confronted him. Oh by the way, did you see what was in the cop's hand? A CAMERA!!!! He was doing the same exact thing, yet he wants to throw a temper tantrum when someone records him. They behaved no better than the thugs they claim to protect us from.
@1775novten If you have a camera make sure to steam live to a second remote location for recording. Then if they take the camera it will still hit the web and they won't be able to stop the data from being out there. Let them pout. Brad Pitt can't stop the media then i can assure you that an officer graduating in the bottom 20% of his tech school class can't either.
that cop is an ASSHOLE..... This is what Democrats are doing to us creating POLICE STATES.... it is true..... its only getting worse... the camera man is in the right.....
@TheTacticalBarrage I absolutely agree. I tried looking to see if he has filed a lawsuit, but I wasn't able to find anything. I wouldn't doubt if we see something soon, because the ACLU defended him during his criminal proceedings, so I'm sure they are going to want to sue to recoup their lawyer fees at a minimum.
@Andrei2000PC For what? For doing the same thing that that cop was doing? Why can cops record me, but they throw a fit when we record them? Why is that? You condone kicking the shit out of someone who has done nothing wrong and broken no law? Are you a street thug?
@Andrei2000PC I love the irony! Here you are saying that you are willing to commit a crime of violence to defend these officers - yet these are the same officers who would have arrested you for your crime that you committed in their defense. Why do you hate your liberties so much?
@Andrei2000PC I could respect that if it were a matter of opinion; however, it is not. These cops clearly and blatantly had no cause to arrest him and violated his rights. And you are not only condoning their behavior, but actually perpetuating it by encouraging this behavior and willing to participate in it yourself. This isn't a matter of opinion, but a matter of law and the Constitution that many have died defending. I think you should re-evaluate your "opinion".
@Andrei2000PC If I say so what? I and a judge agree that these officers had no cause to arrest him and seize his property. These officers are lying thugs with badges. These officers even had the audacity to say that this man refused to identify himself, when you can clearly hear him give his name and even hand the officer his wallet and ID. These officers perjured themselves, yet they are never held accountable, because they are above the law.
@1775novten I would rather have cops than no cops. Be a cop if you think they are doing such a bad job. Stop talking about this lol. You are the only one talking.
@Andrei2000PC Oh I completely agree that there is a need for cops. The reason this really aggravates me, is because this video is from where I live. And to be honest, it was my intent to become a cop when I got out of the Corps, but this sort of crap is the exact reason why I chose not to become a cop in this area. It was the officers like this that turned me off to it completely.
cops are a bunch of highschool loosers that didnt get anywhere in life and enjoy giving hard time to ppl. fuck you all, wish non of you existed, i know how to protect myself.
@ecentrino Ok, lets wait until your home get broken into and who are you going to call for help? your chihuahua? Just cause theres a couple of bad cops in the bunch doesnt mean all of them are the same.
ok its not against the law, but if he request that you stop recording him, have some humanity and dont film him... jesus the cop is right... yall need to stop smoking pot in your basement and get some real civilised behaviors
@vinizz11 Did you see what was in the cop's hand? It was a camera. He was doing the same exact thing. If you asked a cop to stop recording you or not to take your photo, do you think he would request your request? Of course he wouldn't.
Nothing that citizen did warranted them seizing his property and throwing him in a cage. They abused their power and authority, simply because they didn't like him and that is a crime.
I'm on the cops side on this one, the cameraman was obviously video taping the police, it was only when the cop got out that the cameraman looked away. The policeman didn't like being video taped and instead of the cameraman agreeing to video tape somewhere else he instead comes up with bullshit excuses and lies to protect himself.
@Boewolf It wasn't that big of a deal. The policeman told him to stop video taping him so the cameraman should have simply listened and video taped the event in another location instead of making a big idiotic fucking scene. If some stranger you didn't know was video taping you for no legitimate reason, would you sit there and let him or tell him to stop?
@gravekeeper101 Do you think it warranted them seizing his property and throwing him in a cage? You do realize that the cop was also filming the citizens right - he had the camera in his hand. If you asked a cop to stop filming you, do you think he was respect your wishes? You're naive if you say yes.
@1775novten The cop had every right to seize his property because the idiot cameraman wouldn't listen. The cameraman could have simply turned his camera off, walked 10 feet to another location, turned his camera back on and actually video taped the event instead of video taping the police and lying his ass off when the policeman asked him to stop. Another thing, the cop was obviously taking pictures of the event, duh, not random citizens.
@gravekeeper101 That's where you're wrong. Just because a cop ask you to do something, it doesn't mean you're obliged to comply. The citizen was breaking no laws, therefore the officer had no legal right to seize his property. I don't care if he likes it or not, it is his duty to uphold the law and constitution, which he failed on that day. The cop could have just stayed in his car and kept his mouth shut.
@1775novten You truly are an idiot. You say the cop could have just stayed in his car? The cameraman could have just not filmed him in the first place. How hard is it to put away your idiotic pride and simply and calmly comply with the policeman and filmed the event and not the cops somewhere else. The cameraman video taped the cops, the cameraman lied to the cops, the cameraman made a huge scene, and he deserved to have his camera taken from him. If you still don't see that, I'm done arguing.
@gravekeeper101 Wait, now you're calling me an idiot because you don't agree with me? What are you going to do next; arrest me because you don't like me?
I just don't comprehend how you claim that recording someone equates to creating a scene, when it was the officers who clearly created the scene because they didn't want to be recorded. You claimed the cameraman lied - well so did the cops, but which one is swore an oath and is supposed to have integrity?
@gravekeeper101 The bottom line is that this man was doing nothing illegal, so the police should have focused on their job of observing the march. I don't care if they don't agree with what a citizen is doing, their job is to uphold the law and constitution - even if that means defending someone whom they personally despise.
@gravekeeper101 I'll give you a great example. 99.99% of Americans despise and disagree with the members of the westboro baptist church who protest at military funerals; however, it is within their constitutional rights to do so and the police have the obligation to protect their rights to do so - even though I'm sure they wish they could shoot each one in the face. So it's not about what's disrespectful and what's not - it's about the law and our constitutional rights.
@gravekeeper101 My only concern was your ability to trivialize and deflect the unlawful arrest of this citizen and the blatant lies that these sworn officers partook it, simple because you didn't agree with this citizen exercising his right to film in public. That to me is what is concerning - all else aside. I wasn't my intent to argue, but to simply try and exchange perspectives.
@Kamihiv where do you live, I'll come and video tape you while you are driving down the street or walking down the street. The cops initially did nothing wrong. The cop is just like anyone else. Would you want to be video recorded just because you work an abortion clinic or work in a cooperate office? He asked nicely. He was being respectful and asked him nicely. Seriously though, if someone put a camera in your face, what would you do?
@kungfu71186 See the difference is that police officers are supposed to uphold the law, regardless of whether they like something or not, or whether they think someone is being disrespectful to them or not. These officers used their position of authority to unlawfully seize his property and throw him in a cage because they didn't like him. That is an abuse of power.
This is ridiculous you had every right to record. It's insane how cops are so cocky and take their rights for granted. (not all cops, just the few in the video.)
@maderareping559 Obviously all his charges were immediately dismissed as soon as he got in front of a judge, but I was actually shocked that the state prosecutor even allowed it to go forward to the hearing. His name is Alton Robinson and I haven't seen a civil suit filed yet, but I wouldn't be surprised being that the ACLU was assisting him.
@Pilgriminal u kind of missed the point the police were harassing him, heres what happened, there was a event going on and the guy was recording it, the cops move infront of him and the event, one cop got in his face and tried to start some bs about recording him without his permission. Here's where the bullshit come in, i have officers and detectives in my family, anytime a cop is on duty anyone can recored his/her actions 2. if u move in the way of the recorder and it captures u u are at fault
@TheGETUMS While this is true just about all the time, there are some states/county/cities in the U.S that differ with their own by-laws or state laws. here in Canada you have every right to do so to us. I like it, it helps officers often in court to discredit the accused, and yes sometimes its the other way around.
The thing is, the video begins with you recording the cop.... HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DENY YOU WEREN'T RECORDING HIM! Yes it's legal to record, but lying to an officer isn't. Don't lie to a cop who risks his life to protect you. He was obviously wrong about the law, but you lied about recording him.
Simply put the police has no authority to say such; as long as you the recorder/photographer is on public land, the person or event is in public view (even if you zoomed in from far far away) and you are not using the video/picture for profit or slander... they cant do shit :D
And saying "there will be reprocussions" is considered a threat... so you can press charges :D
Well it wasn't against the law but. He could've avoided this whole incident when the officer said he didn't want his face on camera he could've just said ok. Pick your battles.
@GrifinMod the cops are just trying to do their job. It is illegal to put someone on the internet without permission & they didn't give him permission to record them so why do it?
The 2 comments under me..are so ignorant. First of all..if the theory of NOT BREAKING THE LAW..turns cops to assholes then I guess you also assume that BREAKING the law turns cops into nice guys. So we should all break the law to keep the cops happy and nice? Way to rationalize IDIOT! LEARN THE LAW. Poster number 2...keep bending over and giving up your rights...you guys have no clue what you are giving up. but then again you are to stupid to know the cops were wrong.
this guy could have simply just filmed the event an not the officers like he said he wanted to. people need to listen to police, it just makes things easier.
@brentos96 WOW,,, you have really been brainwashed...Let me please shed some light for you. We conclude, based on the facts alleged, that Glik was exercising clearlyestablished First Amendment rights in filming the officers in a public space, and that his clearly-established Fourth Amendment rights were violated by his arrest without probable cause.
@brentos96 con't:: Gathering information about government officials in a form that can readily be disseminated to others serves a cardinal First Amendment interest in protecting and promoting "the free discussion of governmental affairs." That is a quote from a fed. appellate court. Glik v. Cunniffe. google it..
Police aren't there to help you. For some reason everybody has this stupud idea in their head that the police are there to protect you from your neighbors and the idiots, when infact people are made to look stupid and guilty and every occurrance og an extreme case is used to legitimize these mafia like thugs.
These "officers" just violated that man's rights, and guess who isn't going to be put behind bars for such a crime?
Never has a government existed that was there to protect peole's rights.
@imLIBERZz Why do you think so? Why is it ok for police to record citizens, but not for citizens to record police in public? Regardless the judge ruled that the citizen was well within his rights and dismissed all false charges against him. The officer should have just ignored him and continued to do his job, instead of creating a disturbance like he did. These cops blatantly lied and used intimidation to get their way. They were in the wrong.
I've video taped an event before, with cops, and the cops didn't care, in fact they answered my questions about what was going on. See... people can be nice and not blow up over no reason.... >_<
@mattman2413 The officer is a liar and can not be trusted. Do you think the police were in the right for seizing his property and throwing him in a cage? btw, all his charges were dismissed by the judge who clearly recognized he was well within his rights.
@mattman2413 Also, it doesn't matter what the cop said about not wanting to be recorded. Did you notice that that same cop had a camera in his hand while he was in the cruiser, which he was using to take photos of the marches? Not to mention they probably had the dash camera running. No one, especially public a servant, has a right to privacy in the public.
The videographer was getting antagonistic in the middle but he calmed down and stood his ground and the officers should have not escalated the situation.
If the law says otherwise then the officers should be forced to take certain courses again.
Either way it was a needless confrontation but some peoples set views on cops does not help make an individual analysis of the cops in this vid.
@1stNightingale The police were in the wrong from the start. They should have just ignored the citizen and not even engaged him, which resulted in a scene and other citizens gathering. The police caused the disturbance. The police unlawfully seized his property and arrested him. They clearly are ignorant of the law and all his charges were immediately dismissed the first time he stepped in front of a judge.
@1775novten Did i disagree with that? Maybe you are just elaborating...
Either way yes i agree. But if anyone asked to not be recorded as a personal request then id acknowledge that. The police didn't cause the disturbance they simply escalated it. Still its good to know that justice was served.
@1stNightingale But police record us every day. Did you see the camera in the officers hand as he was sitting in the car? He was taking pictures of the citizens. If you asked an officer not to take pictures, do you think he would honor your request?
Yes I am glad that all his charges were dismissed, but he still had to go through the humiliation of being caged and wasted who knows how much time and money to defend himself. You still lose, even if you win.
@1775novten Well i think they might have had to honour that request unless they could prove there was a point to it. Just because someone records us doesn't mean that its wrong and if the police said that they were recording us for a legal reason i would have no issue same as if the guy was just documenting the event i doubt he would have had too much of a problem but he was aiming the camera straight at the cop therefore actually making it personal. I still agree but its all silly.
@1stNightingale It sounds like you're saying that it's ok for a cop to point a camera at you, because you think it's for legal reasons, but that the same citizen doesn't necessary have the same right to point a camera back at the cop. People record police for the same reason they record us - it's for transparency and an unbiased record of the event. Federal Court ruled that citizens have every right to record public servants in the conduct of their job in public.
There is no law against recording in a public place, BUT, if you post the recordings somewhere, people on the film can demand that the film is removed.
It's sad that the second black officer said you need a permit to record.
I find it funny that the white officers ain't doing anything. They probably know the law for a fact. Now take that camera and shit it off. They would be on his case.
Nebster obviously has spent some time behind bars or running from the police. Not to mention uneducated for discriminating against an entire population based on a few (if that many) examples.
Given the context, the officer had every right to protect his conversation (which very well could have been job related, and consequently of private matters) from being overheard, recorded, and possibly shared. That officer had every right to react the way he did.
Don't give sorry attempts to teach people to break the law or find loopholes if you don't know what you're talking about.
@dmag58 -A Federal judge (Glik vs Boston) that it's a first amendment right to film cops while they are on duty! You're a moron who has no clue what you're talking about.
@dmag58 No he didn't, which is why all the charges were dismissed. You have no right to privacy in a public place, especially if you are a public servant conducting your job in the public.
You're an idiot. You uploaded incriminating evidence against your own claim.
Under the statute, consent is not required for the taping of a non-electronic communication uttered by a person WHO DOES NOT HAVE A REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY IN THAT COMMUNICATION.
The officer had no idea if that camera had high quality microphones that could have easily recorded any conversation among the two officers in the blue car.
@codyheisel Actually it is not, they just threaten you with it as an intimidation tactic. All his charges were dropped. VA is a one party consent State.
not only does this look fake (due to the voice and mouth delay) but my father is a retired police officer and according to this you want every cop that has ever lied to die am I correct? well just say this in a police station and see what happens. all cops are human just like the rest of us they have all lied. so if you think this is a good philosophy I just pray the Lord has mercy on your soul
"Cops that lie need to die! Any police officer that lies is a bad cop and should be removed from the streets in a body bag." That's kind of messed up. My father is a police officer and I'm sure if lied by a slip of the tongue or something I wouldn't want to lose my father. Killing officers or wishing them dead isn't something to be taken lightly. This is something serious and you should REALLY think about what you say. Who know's what kind of people act on it.
You know whats not to be taken lightly, the crushing of freedoms going on in this once great country. You father is a servicemen, payed for by his fellow Americans. He is oath bound to protect his American brothers who pay him daily. Not the Gvmnt that issues a check. I know this cop in the video is not your father, but its a sad day when a cops athority is questioned that he is ready to disregard everything he's oathbound to protect.
@HRMWSU2011 that means our "justice" system is in the business of trying to trick (not all) but a fair amount of people into believing they are guilty out of fear of possible imprisonment or extremely unaffordable fines. do you know what that is called if a civilian does to another person? it's called extortion. the cons of what police do far outweighs the good they do.
@HRMWSU2011 law enforcement is one of americas biggest criminal enterprises. what makes a cop any better than a average criminal?
i use to be very interested in law, i wanted to learn it and possibly go to for law to fight crime. up until i started going to sit ins at court hearings and id constantly hear the prosecutor say "i can't try this case there should have been no charge" "or i can't try this case, let's see if we can get him to cop a plea".
Cops are public workers, and they are in public. You can film them if you so desire. But saying this makes you look like a dumbass -> "Cops that lie need to die! Any police officer that lies is a bad cop and should be removed from the streets in a body bag."
I'm with the guy recording ! That officer needs to fuck off & mind his own business. & His friend should be fired AT LEAST for making a lie like that -__-
Just like that Boyz n the Hood cop. I bet he was a much better person prebadge.

@MageDb0w What about the citizens that don't want to be recorded by police? Look in the cop's hand - he is holding a camera, because he was taking pictures of the citizens.
1775novten 3 weeks ago
The camera man is the liar, he was obviously recording the officer. At the start of the video the camera was zoomed on the officer for 5 full secs, and once he looked up at him, the camera man hurry's and turns away like nothing happen...And in some cases the police can make you put the cam away, it depends on the situation..
brandenlee887 3 weeks ago
@brandenlee887 Can you cite one example? I agree the camera lied about intentionally recording them, but do you also agree that the officers lied as well? And that the officers unlawfully seized his property and threw him in a cage. And to top it off, they then falsified their police report and claimed this man refused to identify himself. You may not agree with the cameraman, but he was well within his rights and the officers violated their oath.

@2007TypeR Surprisingly, black officers habitually oppress their own people - often times even to a greater extent than white officers. I have no idea what causes this, but you see it all the time.

TheOfficerBell 3 weeks ago
@TheOfficerBell How is recording a government agency in the conduct of his duties equate to looking for trouble? He didn't say a single word to that officer. The cop is the one who confronted him. 1775novten 3 weeks ago

This isn't a matter of opinion, but a matter of law and the Constitution that many have died defending. I think you should re-evaluate your "opinion".

These officers perjured themselves, yet they are never held accountable, because they are above the law.

Nothing that citizen did warranted them seizing his property and throwing him in a cage. They abused their power and authority, simply because they didn't like him and that is a crime.
1775novten 3 weeks ago
Yes fuck that cop he HAD a Camera as well, They film record everything WE SAY even if you do not agree to it.
USA4thewin 4 weeks ago
I'm on the cops side on this one, the cameraman was obviously video taping the police, it was only when the cop got out that the cameraman looked away. The policeman didn't like being video taped and instead of the cameraman agreeing to video tape somewhere else he instead comes up with bullshit excuses and lies to protect himself.
gravekeeper101 4 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 ist it against law to viedotape working police officer? I dont think so.
Boewolf 4 weeks ago
@Boewolf It wasn't that big of a deal. The policeman told him to stop video taping him so the cameraman should have simply listened and video taped the event in another location instead of making a big idiotic fucking scene. If some stranger you didn't know was video taping you for no legitimate reason, would you sit there and let him or tell him to stop?
gravekeeper101 4 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 Do you think it warranted them seizing his property and throwing him in a cage? You do realize that the cop was also filming the citizens right - he had the camera in his hand. If you asked a cop to stop filming you, do you think he was respect your wishes? You're naive if you say yes.
1775novten 3 weeks ago
@1775novten The cop had every right to seize his property because the idiot cameraman wouldn't listen. The cameraman could have simply turned his camera off, walked 10 feet to another location, turned his camera back on and actually video taped the event instead of video taping the police and lying his ass off when the policeman asked him to stop. Another thing, the cop was obviously taking pictures of the event, duh, not random citizens.
gravekeeper101 3 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 That's where you're wrong. Just because a cop ask you to do something, it doesn't mean you're obliged to comply. The citizen was breaking no laws, therefore the officer had no legal right to seize his property. I don't care if he likes it or not, it is his duty to uphold the law and constitution, which he failed on that day. The cop could have just stayed in his car and kept his mouth shut.
1775novten 3 weeks ago
@1775novten You truly are an idiot. You say the cop could have just stayed in his car? The cameraman could have just not filmed him in the first place. How hard is it to put away your idiotic pride and simply and calmly comply with the policeman and filmed the event and not the cops somewhere else. The cameraman video taped the cops, the cameraman lied to the cops, the cameraman made a huge scene, and he deserved to have his camera taken from him. If you still don't see that, I'm done arguing.
gravekeeper101 3 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 Wait, now you're calling me an idiot because you don't agree with me? What are you going to do next; arrest me because you don't like me?
I just don't comprehend how you claim that recording someone equates to creating a scene, when it was the officers who clearly created the scene because they didn't want to be recorded. You claimed the cameraman lied - well so did the cops, but which one is swore an oath and is supposed to have integrity?
1775novten 3 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 The bottom line is that this man was doing nothing illegal, so the police should have focused on their job of observing the march. I don't care if they don't agree with what a citizen is doing, their job is to uphold the law and constitution - even if that means defending someone whom they personally despise.
1775novten 3 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 I'll give you a great example. 99.99% of Americans despise and disagree with the members of the westboro baptist church who protest at military funerals; however, it is within their constitutional rights to do so and the police have the obligation to protect their rights to do so - even though I'm sure they wish they could shoot each one in the face. So it's not about what's disrespectful and what's not - it's about the law and our constitutional rights.

@1775novten Didn't you read my previous comment? I'm done arguing, bother somebody else with your idiocy, not me.
gravekeeper101 3 weeks ago
@gravekeeper101 My only concern was your ability to trivialize and deflect the unlawful arrest of this citizen and the blatant lies that these sworn officers partook it, simple because you didn't agree with this citizen exercising his right to film in public. That to me is what is concerning - all else aside. I wasn't my intent to argue, but to simply try and exchange perspectives.

kungfu71186 4 weeks ago
@kungfu71186 See the difference is that police officers are supposed to uphold the law, regardless of whether they like something or not, or whether they think someone is being disrespectful to them or not. 1775novten 1 month ago
1775novten 1 month ago
The videographer was getting antagonistic in the middle but he calmed down and stood his ground and the officers should have not escalated the situation.
If the law says otherwise then the officers should be forced to take certain courses again.
Either way it was a needless confrontation but some peoples set views on cops does not help make an individual analysis of the cops in this vid.
1stNightingale 1 month ago
@1stNightingale The police were in the wrong from the start. They should have just ignored the citizen and not even engaged him, which resulted in a scene and other citizens gathering. The police caused the disturbance. The police unlawfully seized his property and arrested him. They clearly are ignorant of the law and all his charges were immediately dismissed the first time he stepped in front of a judge.
1775novten 1 month ago
@1775novten Did i disagree with that? Maybe you are just elaborating...
Either way yes i agree. But if anyone asked to not be recorded as a personal request then id acknowledge that. The police didn't cause the disturbance they simply escalated it. Still its good to know that justice was served.
1stNightingale 1 month ago
@1stNightingale But police record us every day. Did you see the camera in the officers hand as he was sitting in the car? He was taking pictures of the citizens. If you asked an officer not to take pictures, do you think he would honor your request?
Yes I am glad that all his charges were dismissed, but he still had to go through the humiliation of being caged and wasted who knows how much time and money to defend himself. You still lose, even if you win.
1775novten 1 month ago
@1775novten Well i think they might have had to honour that request unless they could prove there was a point to it. Just because someone records us doesn't mean that its wrong and if the police said that they were recording us for a legal reason i would have no issue same as if the guy was just documenting the event i doubt he would have had too much of a problem but he was aiming the camera straight at the cop therefore actually making it personal. I still agree but its all silly.
1stNightingale 1 month ago
@1stNightingale It sounds like you're saying that it's ok for a cop to point a camera at you, because you think it's for legal reasons, but that the same citizen doesn't necessary have the same right to point a camera back at the cop. People record police for the same reason they record us - it's for transparency and an unbiased record of the event. Federal Court ruled that citizens have every right to record public servants in the conduct of their job in public.

@mecimessiah It's not a justice system... It's a legal system...
