  • Good choices!

  • you want a good book, read the ice and fire series. book 1 a game of thrones, book 2 a clash of kings, book 3 a storm of swords, book 4 a feast for crows, book five a dance of dragons.

  • @littleruningboy

Agreed. Another book that reads just as well is Demons, by S.F.Spencer.

  • u should read the bokos "Tithe" and "Ironside" there is a book between those 2 but its about a backround character so u can just skip it plus i cant remember the mane. but i chose 2 read the unrelated second book be4 i read ironside cas i new ther was gonna be new people in ironside besides the main. and im glad i did cas one of my favorite characters in the thrid was a main in the second book.

  • Anyone seen any video reviews or read any online reviews about the e-book

April Curran Meets the Vampire of Crimson Cove High School?

  • The Oliver Nocturne seires is the best. It is a vampire series, but there is no romance or anything like that. But it is like kind of violent and it is a great series.

  • Just finished reading the Hunger games series and I LOVE THEM!! I hope they make them into movies!! :)

  • Man when chicks say sci-fi fantasy they mean 'vampire books', or 'spooky stories' or supernatural romance'.

  • I agree with radchannel. Im sick of all the stupid vampire romance stories. Not to be critical without giving it a chance, I picked up Twilight and it is horrible and poorly written.

Cant this chick give a better review than, its good.

This videoshould be titled, romance/ supernatural books for women

  • and we press stop when meyer makes an appearance....

  • Yehh I agree this is not sci-fi, the whole YA /dark romance genre is kinda destroying real sci-fi/fantasy books. Read some real fantasy: LOTR, the hobbit, harry potter, terry pratchetts books, dark tower series and wheel of time. Seriously people that was like 1% of the good fantasy books i could think of, there are thousands of amazing (probably millions) novels out there. And that was just fantasy scifi is just as good. Leave the YA section of your book shop for once people.

  • memories of the past by serge momjian best fiction book

  • Uh...*feels awkward*. So have the thirteen-year-olds finally taken over YouTube entirely, then? I mean...you do know that all those books are from the 12-14 section, right?

*Looks from side to side* Goddamn it, I'm the only adult here, aren't I?

  • oh, for some SERIOUS sci-fi/fantasy pick up R.A. Salvatore's books. my dad has them all and although i haven't gotten to them ... they sound pretty EPIC, im talkin LOTR epic here.

  • @KirabellaAnonymous I've read the first 6 books in the Legend of Drizzt serie, and they are pretty awesome! really recommend you read them :D

  • lovelovelovelovelove the Wicked Lovely series

  • books that are great to read is the immortal series by alyso noel, Hush hush, Fallen, morganville vampires, city of bones series, the host, the night world series, vampire daires (not the t.v show!!!), Thirst, maximum ride series, and the Tithe series.

some of these books are ratedd R or PG 14, but these are great books to read also. i would recommend more books to read but its a much more longer list then this. btw you got great taste in books^^

  • best books to get you back into reading. i'm going thru a reading dry spot. too many vampires. too many cliches. too much sex. i'm getting tired of it all. so please, get me back into the reading mojo.

  • the sword of truth series is pretty sweet

  • the best fantasy books are definitely by Raymond e. feist. if u havent read them do!

  • My favorite book in this genre is Tithe by Holly Black. I really like The Siren too, it reminds me of The Little Mermaid XD.

  • HUNGER GAMES FTW.

  • I'm outlining a new writing project :)

  • All this books have nothing to do with scifi or fantasy.

    I'd call m supernatural chick-lit at best.

  • @KaiserAugustus72 Supernatural would fall under fantasy. Fantasy being anything fantastical (Not real) Sci-Fi being things not at the moment real, but certainly possible if technology progresses.

  • I am in process of reading the siren. Just a few more chapters! It is freaking amazing! There's romance and interesting things happens. It actually makes me think differently about the ocean. Totally LOVE IT!

  • Please stop calling those books SciFi. There is nothing SciFi about any of them. Robert Heinlein must be be spinning in his grave....

  • @kosherporkface

the hunger games is SciFi with their technologies in the book

  • HUNGER GAMES!!!!

  • heck yea for the hunger games! team peeta!

  • the hunger games is epic

  • I read the host once and I really would have loved to read it again! But I lent it to my ant and she lives in a difference prov then me and I really dont think I'm getting that book back :(..... Loved it though!

  • This is more supernatural romance and fantasy books, not Sci-fi. good job though

Wicked Lovely was alright I didnt care for the other books in the series, If you want "some" sci fi fantasy then pick up the Gone series by Grant (I cannot spell his first name right) :p

  • Have you even read a Sci-Fi books. These dont even fall into the Sci-Fi genre in bookstores or anywhere. I recommend you start reading some Robert Heinlein, Orson Scott Card, William Gibson, Phillip K. Dick, Frank Herbert etc... you fooled us

  • Would you like to try my debut (PG rated LOL) sci-fi humor novel?

  • Hey enjoyed the video I have a fantasy book that I have written I thought you might enjoy and might want to feature in one of your videos if you want. Check out my video if you want, it's not the greatest but let me know what you think!

  • Ive read the host and hunger games. love those books. and it seems like you have the same taste as me so im gonna check out the other books your talking about :)

  • This is not sci-fi or fantasy. And the epitome of high fantasy is LORD OF THE RINGS.

  • harry potter is such a good fantasy book, hunger games i read the first 10 pages and couldnt get into it.....

  • @SuperJonasfan4life Hunger Games is one of the best YA books I've read in a while. I would urge you to give it another try. It has a lot of really rich content.

  • try best classic book. (recomdenation: To Kill a Mocking bird ;) )

  • I just finished reading the Hunger Games! I loved it!!!

  • I loved the Host and liked the Hunger Games. The Host made my cry a lot.

  • Are you sure that these are not the worst sf/fantasy books. You talk about best sci-fi and you don't even mention one of the great sci-fi legends like Philip K. Dick, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert E Heinlein, Frank Herbert, William Gibson. I have read Stephani Mayer's books and she doesn't know how to write.

    Your list SUCKS.

  • @vanci19 Stephenie Meyer doesn't know to write ? You got to be kidding me. shut up.

  • @vanci19

How are you going to mention Sci-fi legends and not bring up Isac Asimov or Ray Bradbury? They are the kings of science fiction.

  • @TheNativeDialect

I mentioned several of the greatest sf authors so that people could get the general idea of what I want to say. If you want I could make a list of all the great sf authors no problemo.

  • @vanci19 True that. Smeyer has sucked the blood out of literature.

  • Gotta love the violence and the sex.

  • the hunger games series are the best books i ever ready and im siked about the third book even though i haven't finished the second book "Catching Fire"

  • every one of these books is by a female author, and has a heavy slant towards female readers, not a bad thing, but it should be addressed in the title.

  • I must say that new twilight is so great. I saw leaked version of Twilight Eclipse at OnlineTwilightEclipse[dot]tk

  • Everyone who wants to read a really good and hilariously funny book, go to Amazon and look for Moon Kids by R. C. Hunter! I read it and couldn't put it down! The author even has a youtube account (ask me for more info). Seriously, if you have an inner child, you will LOL! =D

  • Kiera you have an awesome sense in books! I've read 3 of the five sci fye books u've suggested and i love them (Jessica's guide, the Hunger Games, The Host) i just got ur book The Siren and im probably gonna finish it today! Its soo good! Thanks for the book suggestions!

  • i love wicked lovely so much! when i first read it i could not put it down! its so creative and different!

  • I read Wicked Lovely recently and absolutely loved it! It's my all time favorite book! I jus need to get the second one...

  • The Host is amazing!

  • i just got Jessica's Guide to dating on the dark side from the library, can't wait to read it

  • um... this is supernatural romance. not scifi/fantasy.

  • @RadChannel totally, every one of these is a female targeted book by a female author.

  • @RadChannel You've obviuosly never read the hunger games then, they do have romance in them, but the plot is about a group of teenagers thrown into a giant outdoor arena to fight to the death, to keep the districts of the country in line. Sounds like SF to me.

  • I don't know how sci-fi these are, but Heir Apparant and Epic are REALLY good for people that are into gaming and sci-fi flicks than reading :)

  • What is your book about?

  • I have looked for your book everywhere in stores! My mom wont buy it online but NO book stores have it. Do you know why?

  • I absolutely LOVED The Hunger Games! I devoured it in a matter of hours! So good!

I read Certain Slant of Light when it first came out and it was so awesome.

And of course The Siren is totally amazing! Like to the point of it brought me to tears more than once. I loved it so much! I would so love a sequel, even if it's about other characters.

  • Heeeeeey...

    Who are you? Youre cute!

  • 1. The hobbit, Duh

    2. Nine princes in Amber

sci-fi / fantasy / adventure / maybe bit of romance?

its just i dont usually read books, but these are the sorta films ect tht i like so if anyone knows any books like them i would be really greatful xx

  • Or if you also want the top five by women writers:

    1. The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuinn (Wizard of Earthsea by the same author would also qualify)

    2. The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler

    3. Passage by Connie Willis (Doomsday Book or Lincoln's Dreams would also qualify)

    4. Dreamsnake by Vonda McIntyre

    5. Up the Walls of the World by James Tiptree Jr. aka Alice Sheldon

  • What about the TRULY great, all-time great authors? You don't really know sci-fi and fantasy until you've read the following:

    1. Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny

    2. Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller Jr.

    3. Neuromancer by William Gibson

    4. Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe

    5. Dying Inside by Robert Silverberg

  • Vampire diaries books are good too ! So is dear John ... And of

    Cource TWILIGHT SAGA

  • I agree, 13 Reasons Why is a great book, if not creepy at times. Also, your book was absolutely ah-mazing! I really loved it. Akinli is so sweet

  • Kiera has inspired me to write my sci-fi book i'm working on

  • I personally didn't really like the Hunger Games.

I liked OKAY, but its not something i'd read again.

A really good book (if you like mystery) is Dark Secrets Part 1, i forget the authors name, but its REALLY good.

Send Guyden love from TRB !

  • Ok i would have to say anything by Susane Colasanti (When it Happens, and Waiting for You) are both REALLY good. you should also read My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison its a great book for a long car ride (just dont read it while ur driving)

  • If we haven't read The Hunger Games but really want to and just can't afford to buy it right now, are we still not cool? lol

  • I love The Host and The Hunger Games!!!

And to BlackandBlue95, yeah, I'm reading 13 Reasons Why right now, it's a great book!!

Another AWESOME series is Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness, those books are amazing!!! XD

  • I cant wait to read your book it looks really good and thanks for the suggestions!

  • Try 13 Reasons Why By Jay Asher. A gorgeous book about a boy who finds 13 tapes in his porch 2 weeks after his friend Hannah Baker kills herself. Touching story that makes you think.

  • @ BlackandBlue95 ahhh, 13 Reasons Why was an amazing book(but the hot tub part made me kind of hesitate)! it makes me want to pay closer attention to my friends

  • you should do a summer read books

  • i think the best book for a plane ride would be 13 little blue envelopes or one harry turtledoves crosstime travel series , my fav of his is In high places :)

  • i read the first two vampire diaries books on the eight hour flight back from hawai'i and they was amazing!!

  • if you haven't read the serie Otherworl by Kelly Armstrong, do it, it is really good :)

  • I really really want to read your book, but the bookstore where I live is dumb and doesn't have it. :( Wicked lovely is AMAZING though. I really need to go to the bookstore...

  • @citygurl14 you can only buy it on amazon... so hurry up and get your copy!

  • Oh. Thank you for telling me!

  • You are very welcome!

  • I'm a HUGE book worm! Loved this video!

I bought the Host before I finished Breaking Dawn because judging by how I got after finishing a Twilight book, I knew I'd need more SM. But I never got around to reading it.... lol.

I want to read Wicked Lovely but I somehow misplaced my book. It like... just ran off.

I bought your book! Its in my to-be-read pile! I did read the preview on your site and I fell in love!

I'm really into the Sweep series right now, but its 15 books & its short.

  • the hunger games is soooo good! i was gonna suggest it but you already had it in your video!! =) good choice of books

  • I think my favorite fantasy series (probably even more than Twilight) is the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare which is about deamon hunters. There are three bookes now and there will be a fourth one as well as a prequel series coming soon. It is a really great series that is really interesting, well written and there is even a love triangle thrown in there.

  • I love The Host!!! More than twilight actually...

I'm sorta upset you didn't put Harry Potter in there when its sitting on the back shelf behind you...haha...but the Harry Potter series is defiantly the best series to read when you have nothing else to read, you can reread it over and over again :D

  • i LOVE the hunger games

  • Oooo, I simply ADORE The Hunger Games. Wicked Lovely is great, too. I liked the Host better than Twilight, but it's nothing hugely special.

None of my local libraries have The Siren, and I don't have enough money to buy it. :(

  • I read the Hunger Games and loved it which is why when Catching Fire came out, i read it in a day.

The Host was pretty good, I wouldn't mind a sequel.

I read Wicked Lovely and liked it, but I didn't want to read Ink Exchange. I wanted to read the 3rd one, but people told me i needed to read the 2nd otherwise I'd be lost. Can I really skip the 2nd?

  • i want to read your book... but i can't find it anywhere T_T

when i go to the states this summer u bet ur butt i'll be buying it!! :D

  • I really really really want to read Siren but since you can't get it at Walmart or B&N (not that I've seen at least) and that's where I get like all my books and no matter how much I tell my mom to order it for me on Amazon she always forgets...I'm hoping she might get me it for my birthday (This Monday yay!) but she probably won't since I already know what all she got me so ughh mom just ugh! lol this was long....

  • I agree with the previous comment. Mortal Instruments = the best series ever!!!!

  • Definatly read the Mortal Instruments series...so good! The first is the City of Bones, then City of Ashes, then City of Glass. AMAZING!

  • The Hunger Games ftw <3

  • These are all my favorites :D

  • Yeah i agree to one commenter. The mortal instruments :)

  • I read The Host immediately after the Twilight books & initially could not get into it at all. I picked it up again after putting it aside for a few months & completely lost myself in it - I loved it more than Twilight. I think you need to be in the right mood. What about the the Overlander Series by Diana Gabaldon? It is a bit different & you get completely sucked into it. I am on book 6 & haven't read anything else this year! I would rate the Overlander R. PS I loved the Siren :-)

  • hey Kiera

Read your book, loved it, i couldnt put it down. I then leant it to my mum. A week after i leant it to her my mum ran into my room asking, how can they be together, i didn't tell her of course. She loved it in the end. I then leant it to one of my friends. She read it in three days which is the fastest she ever read a book. Obvuioulsy she loved it

So thats three from three. GO KIERA

    Good Fantasy Books:

The Mortal instruments - Cassandra Clare (PG)

    Tithe - Holly Black (M15)

  • I wish wish wish I could read your book, but no job at the moment, but i know as soon as I get a job your book will be one of the first i buy.

  • The Hunger Games <3

  • omgg Hunger Games is the BESTTT BEST BEST most awesome series ever!! i stayed up all night reading them!

  • What about the "Wake" series????

  • The Siren FTW!

  • I love all of those!

  • a really fun, light , easy read is the private series...it also has a bit of mystery to it goo check them out!!! sooo good!

  • i love all of Nicholas Sparks' books - i really reccomend The Last Song. absolutely wonderful. Pg 13 (MAYBE because there is alcohol and some crime)

  • haha thanks. I've already read "The Siren", of course :) and also the Hunger Games Series which is AWESOME, it's my favourite series EVA. :)

Maybe I'll read that fairy series some time, but I just bought SHIVER today, so the fairies have to wait. :P and I saw signed copies of "Tempted" in the bookstore, which I was almost buying because it was signed, because I don't know this from germany, so I was kinda excited. :D xD but in the end I didn't buy it because I didn't want to spend so much money.

  • Best Book After Twilight Saga: The Mortal Instruments our The Hunger Games Series. Best Book for a Plane Ride: Prada & Prejudice. ^_^ Hope this Helps!

  • Kiera,

You should do a book review on 5 or 10 best books (in your opinion) of the decade: i'd love to get some suggestions!! :) btw i'm about to grab my money and head on over to a bookstore aha and pick up some of those!! :D

  • I just finished "Hush,Hush" and I LOVED it. I've read most of those books and they are awesome but my favorite out of the bunch is probably The Siren...okay ass kissing aside, it is really good. :)

  • What's your least favourite book, Kiera? I'd love to learn that next Question Tuesday or whatever.

  • i thought that the Mortal Instrument Series is good to be on this list.

its amazing. it has every crreature u can think of : werewolves, demons vampires, faeries, ect.

the rating prob be about pg-13ish

but those books are probable the best books i've ever read... :)

  • omg i LOVE the host so much

    i cry every time too<3

  • Love the Host. Guess I'm not cool cuz I haven't read the Hunter series or whatever its called.

I havent read your book because I'm broke!!!

Have you read the Vampire Academy series??? It's like...PG16 b/c it's more intense than PG13 but not R. Anyway, it's a good series and in my opinion it's about to surpass Twilight as my fave book series.

  • ive read almost all of those except the host...even though i do own it. right now i am reaading shiver, then i am going to read th1rteen r3asons why. sounds like a great book.

  • Th1rteen R3asons Why is such a good book I'm totally in love with it. Screw Shiver lol jk. But it's such a good book you have to read it ASAP.

  • is shiver a good book?? i want to read it but i'm not sure...lol

  • @Flakita4never check out kelab nation he is doing chapter by chapter reviews of the book

  • Shiver is pretty good. I felt like I was getting an insider story from the Wolf pack drama in Twilight although Shiver has nothing to do with vampires... haha. But yes, it's pretty good. Not too deep, you don't have to think, just read and take everything at face value. A good Saturday morning read.

  • Kiera,

Have you read any of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books? They're another vampire series, but definitely more on the "R" side. But I think they're fantastic!

  • I'm gonna have to look that up!!!

  • The Siren. OMG THE SIREN!!!!! I dont wanna push you to write a sequel, because i realize that as a writer and as a mother that just might not work for you...but...I would be so estatic if you did.

  • Hunger Games-AMAZING. I loveeeeee them!

  • I loved The Host I honestly thought it was better than twilight and one of the best books I have ever read. It is a little slow in the beggining but it is so good after you get into it. I didn't like wicked lovely that much it was an ok book. I hate it when authors have a series and all of a sudden they just switch they point of veiw from one character to another so if I did continue with the Wicked Lovely series then I would skip Ink Enchange

  • The Hunger Games is sooo amazing!!!

  • i love the Wake series. Wake, Fade, and Gone,

  • The mortal instruments series is really great :)

  • I read The Host the day it came out, LOVE IT!. Hunger Games, CHECK. A certain slant of light, CHECK. ( Actually, I read that book in HS and haven't bought it yet. Thanks for reminding me!) I've never been into the faerie books but I'm currently reading the Iron King (New Harlequin Teen) which is good so far. Also the Wake series is excellent, I'm on the last book now.

  • ;O

I absolutely LOVE The Hunger Games. I can't wait for the 3rd!

  • loved all the books you had in you vid but to tell youthe truth i really didnt like wikedl lovely at all. maybe i have to re-read it cause i hated it the first time. i just read the hunger games and it is truley awsome, also you should all go read the darkest powers series by kelllie armstrong!! it is really really good! the first one is the summoning. the siren is like one of my all time faves.

  • Prom Nights from Hell - its a book of 5 short stories all by different authors including Stephenie Meyer, Lauren Myracle, Meg Cabot, etc. All of the stories are really cool. :]

  • Have you read The Immortals Series? It starts off with Evermore? What about The Percy Jackson Series?

  • Unwind by Neil Shusterman and The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

  • Im reading Unwind right now :)

It's a really good book so far. Can't wait for the end ^^

  • i really like any books that jodi picoult has written, like my sisters keeper, change of heart, 19 minutes, vanishing acts. all are really interesting and all of my friends love her as well. (ages 17-25) even my aunt loves her books. i also love the book, "The 5 People You Meet in Heaven" and "Tuesdays with Morrie". Mitch Albom is a great author.

The Host is one of my favorite books as well and I also like all of those boarding school or vampire books :)

  • the host probably would be good if i could past the middle point.. its a hard read cause its confusing..! ..Try reading Bran Hambric by Kaleb Nation.. its a good book im almost done with it..! only 25 more pages i can do it..!

  • I havent read it because the barnes and noble book store here dosent have it!!!!!!! You should send me one :) *hint hint wink wink* I want to read it SO bad!!!

  • a book that i had to read on an airplane once was "touching Spirit Bear" and it was really goodd! you should read it!

  • I own your book, I swear. It is in my physical posession! Its on my list of a million and one book I have to read. I will read it though, I swear. :)

Also, bless your heart you look soo tired. Hope you guyden and calaway are all well.

  • i LOVE the host. i think its better than twilight (just my opinion) its great for a plane ride if you have about 2 weeks before hand because it takes abou that long to get into it. Its very slow at the beginning but once you get past the first 16 chapters or so it is fantastic

  • the host is AMAZING ! i fell in love with reading because of twilight & steph Meyer is such a good writer ! lol also ur book is AMAZING too ! lol and you have really good taste in books. i'm on the last book in the luxe series ! & i'm putting these on my reading list lol thanks !

  • I've read all your recomendations and in order of like i'd say:

The Host- best read for travel even 2 copies hard and paperback

Hunger Games-great for an independant reading book for school assignment

Wickedly Lovely - addicting read if you have a whole day to.

Jessica's guide- A good romance and i actually after reading found it even better then twilight (Which was a shocker to me)

A Certian Slant of Light- creepy and sad but still not exactly my taste, it's a libaray book read for sure.

  • FINE! I'll try to get my hands on the Hunger Games

  • u wont regret it its realy an amazing set of books and im so looking forward 2 the next one!

  • I know this is random, but could you go through the books on your bookshelf? I keep trying to see the titles of the books behind you! LOL.

  • I read The Glass Castle when I was driving all the way to Florida and it was a really amazing and great story. It's a really sad but good story and it's fantastic for someone who wants to read a fast but fantastic book. Oh, and it's written by Jeanette Walls.

  • IM SRRY I HAVENT READ UR BOOK YET!!! haha i have no way to even get one so yeah tht kinda sucks... but i WILL read it eventually!! oh and im totally gonna read the wicked lovely books cuz my friend has been pestering me to read them

  • I like The Lovely Bones and The Almost Moon they are written by the same author and are both really good have you read them?

  • best series im reading right now is Mortal instruments!!!!! city of bones. ahh amazing! so and read them >=o =D

  • Good choice with the Wicked Lovely series.

  • I dont consider the blue bloods a vampire book If it is one then it waaayyyy better then any vamp book i have read. O.O BOOK HAS MY NAME ON IT =D OMG I FREAKIN LOVE WICKED LOVELY OF OT REAL I WOULD MARRY IT! RADIANT SHADOWS COMES OUT ON APRIL 20! w00t!

  • im ADDICTED to the hunger games series! cant wait for mockingjay!!

  • Woot! lol i'm going to start reading the Hunger Games in a couple days, i just have to finish the Mortal Instruments trilogy. sorry if i spelled that wrong! anyway, read the mortal instruments!!!

  • I'm going on a twelve hours flight to America in March, bringing some of Neil Gaiman's work (he's so brilliant):

The Graveyard Book (my favourite, EVER)

    Anansi Boys (is awesome)

    Stardust (so sweet)

  • Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's book Good Omens is one of my all-time favorites.

  • Best book while in labor,perhaps? ;p

  • A really good book is called Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger. She wrote devil wears prada and it gives a cool look into new york city

  • i personally like sad books. so i was wondering if you had any suggestions. a lot of drama and turns. :)

  • best book for road trip???

  • how about best book for a summer read?

  • Hey Kiera i can't remember if you did one already but could you to your five favorite mystery/horror books??? (ps. i wouldn't mind a liitle romance in there!!)
