Btw I wondering (since Buddy doesn't do it on his version) if the chord mashing SRV does on his cover of the song is just the same chords your doing except an octave higher?

  • You are entitled to your - clearly - wrong opinion ;)

  • I think the guitar ugly, assigned or not, thats my opinio, and you cant classify it like right or wrong...

  • Sure I can, for the exact same reason you can say that it's ugly. BTW, you may have missed the ;) part... I was kidding.

  • OHH :D

Good, i was expecting a better argument from an 40 year old man :D

  • What, I look that old? I'm not 40 yet ;)

  • Dont worry, im only 14 and some people think that im a 16 xD

If you have 30 or 35, i wont change you´re age by thinking that you´re a 40 year old man.

    It´s your age (:

  • @ThreeChordGuitar you don't look 40 at all, don't worry.

  • @TheHistoryJohn dude he doesnt look 40 at all. Are you retarded or like 8 years old? cause its one of the 2

  • how much does the guitar cost ???

  • a special edition like that? 2000-3000 bucks

  • the polkadot version is made in mexico and now goes for about $870--not with the lace sensors tho, you would need to upgrade to that yourself

  • I've been playing for about 6 months and quick open string hammer ons/pull offs still leave me feeling like bambi on ice

great video as always. i've been lurking around on your videos (?!?!) for a while now and you've helped me learn about 10 songs thus far, so 10xthanks omgz.

  • 2 or 3 HUNDRED?? lol no joke, funny how fast the guitars become more in my guitar room....common problem for guitarists^^

  • Johnny Cash finger LOL

  • haha great lesson ive been lookin how to play this thanks. stevie is amazing

  • Do u have the Midboost and TBX tone control of the American Artist Signature implemented?

  • Yes :)

  • Wow^^ Did u paint the American body to Polka Dot or did u take the Mexican body and cut away some wood for the bigger knobs and the battery etc?

I'd really like to know that because this is the guitar what I'm dreamin of: Polka dots on the body with Lace Sensors and midboost+22frets.

  • fender made in. it's a signature series.I know musicians friend sold them for awhile. you may have to check ebay for one.if you do then make sure you tell them to take the strings loose before shipping it. this cold weather will warp the neck.good luck.

  • Dude I love your lessons

  • Sup Mojo! I'm starting to learn the Blues... & those riffs n licks were just chinese to me...until now. TYSFM for your lessons! You rock dude...

  • 22 frets on a buddy guy guitar. something not right?

  • I assembled it myself. I took a MIM BG Strat body, and the parts of a USA BG strat so that I could have the polka dot. The gentleman to whom I sold it currently wants $800 for it. If you want me to introduce you to him... let me know :)

  • haha i might be getting one of those this coming January!

    ~Jaeger900~

  • this goes soo fast for beginners

  • can this song still be played properly with a pick?

  • It sure can! On an unrelated note, your account on my forum is all set :)

  • SWEET Thank you so much!

  • just a question. what gauge strings do you play with? i use Ernie ball power slinky's(11 gauge)

  • I used to use 11s on Teles, 12s on Les Pauls, and 13s on strats. I am now down to 9s on everything because of busted wrists :)

  • Awesome!!!

  • very nice lesson, thanks

  • WE WANT MORE BUDDY GUY U ARE THE MAN

Thank u for ur lessons mojo

  • Great ideas. Thanks!

  • wa, u have a lot of guitars. lol

  • Husch! learn it first then come up with teaching........if you can.....

  • I have seen him with a white strat! I am thinking of getting the black strat! Buddy Guy is in my top 5 list of best guitarist!

    1. Jimmy Page

    2. Eric Clapton

    3. Buddy Guy

    4. SRV

    5. Tony iommi

  • Buddy's the man :)

  • Make room at # 6 for Jack White-

  • what color is this buddy guy guitar? Black or Blue

  • Black... w/ white polka dots, of course :)

  • this isnt the way that stevie ray vaughn actually plays it.... i learnt by this but i want to do it the proper way, can you post a video doing it the proper way plz?

  • The proper way? Considering that it's not an SRV song, I am not sure what you mean by the proper way... anyway, there are plenty of tabs out there to show you how SRV did it :)

  • ok thank you. I know both ways no XD thank you for giving out the buddy guy version. :)

  • I love this lesson!!! Would it be possible for you to give me tabs!! I would help me a lot!! Great Lesson!!1

  • are those kinman pickups?

  • Nope, Fender Gold Lace Sensors :)

  • i just discovered your website, and what your doing. I really appreciate it man, this is great stuff.

  • Great! YOu made my day :)

  • not the nursery rhyme ;)

  • Nope, not quite! :)

  • thats an awsome guitar!

  • ... and it's for sale, too! :)

  • a fender strat?

  • Yup, Buddy Guy signature strat :)

  • awesome. im planning own getting astrat

  • You should get this one ;)

  • i wish

  • Nah, dont't wish... just make it happen ;)

  • well im only a kid and i dont have that kind of money

  • I hear ya... I was just teasin'!

  • ha, if you're going to spend a boatload on a strat buy one of those clapton series strats, they have that mid boost, basically, they can get so thick they can drown out a whole band, its insane...

and this is a great video, i wish it would've existed when i learned it, would've saved alot of time

  • well, the Clapton would cost him a lot more than this one, but that's beyond the point...

  • of course, you dont need a thousand dollar guitar to sound great, you just have to be comfortable on what you do play.

oh, and there's places that sell the mid boost thing i mentioned earlier, wayy cheaper than a guitar... yeah, that was off topic...

  • nah, not off topic. Constructive :)

  • nah, not off topic. Constructive :)

  • play with a mediator that would be better. great vid /m/

  • Thanks... alas, I can't do that. I can only play with my fingers.

  • why?

  • the way I play is so dependent on all fingers on my right hand being available, both for picking and for strumming, that I can't seem to play with a pick. It changes the way my hand hovers over the strings, for example, or how I use the side of my hand to mute strings... I'd have to re-learn how to play.

  • i play a bit of both but the pick is a way easier to learn and master. you can play with your fingers if you want but it will help you a lot to play with a mediator. You should begin slowly, without forgeting your finger technique. youre a good guitar player i know that youre able to ;) good luck

  • Thanks for the advice!

  • very helpful way of teaching a beginner. I'm getting it!

  • Speaking of Johnny Cash, how bout a Johnny Cash song lesson?

  • don't you have to go back to the e after the a???

  • Not sure of what part of the song you are mentioning. Also, note that these lessons are usually how *I* play those tunes - not necessarily how the original artist does...

  • sorry, i should have been more clear. it just seemed like after playing the A phrase you went right to the b7 turnaround unlike a standard e,a,e,b,e. no worries though. Love the show!

  • thanks alot ,i like your way of teaching..im workin on this tune, thanks this is a great help..SRV tunes down 1/2 step is that what i should do..i play with backtracks?..5 stars

  • Thanks!

Yes he did tune 1/2 step down. With the string gauge he used, that's better for the guitar anyway.

My SRV strat used to be tuned down that way as well when I had her strung with 13/62 strings :)

  • Mojo, your video lessons are excellent. I appreciate the time you take to help everyone enjoy learning guitar. I've noticed you haven't posted a new lesson in the last couple of weeks - I hope everything is OK.

    Thanks again!

  • Thanks for the kind words. I had surgery a little while back and had to stop playing, but I started again recently and hope to get enough chops back to post more videos soon. You can find me in the mean time on our forum at 3chordguitar dot com :)

  • thanks very much! can you do a SRV little wing lesson?

  • Wish I could! I'll look into it...

  • Been trying to play this for a while, was kind of there, but not exactly. Your video has helped a lot, funny how little things makes such a big difference. Words can't express the gratitude for your time & patience. Thanks again.

  • Great! Glad I could help :)

  • man, i'm from Brazil and i don't understand english so good, but your way to show the things is so easy!! tks very very much!!

sorry 'bout the text, hope you understand!

  • Don't worry, English is not my first language either... heck, it's not even my second one! Your English is just fine and I thank you for your kind words.

  • What is your first language? You could've fooled me =).

  • how about a version of texas flood..it is my all time favorite song and i cant find a video for it.

  • If I were good enough, I'd love to do it. It *is* a great song...

  • I'd like to thank you for being such a cool and generous guy by taking a serious amount of your own time to help people learn a little bit on the six string. I really appreciate it

  • Thanks for the kind words. You made my day :)

  • I second that! You're way too cool and very generous when it comes to taking time out of your day to make these videos, not to mention good ones at that!
