We will be shutting down and I think you are about to be real surprised at how many of us do close the doors. You act as if there isnt a shortage of doctors already. Dont worry theyll lower the standards to attract more people, but people like my wife who is Chief of Staff head of the peer revue been published six times and graduated top of her class in medical school and was Valedictorian at an ivy league school where she majored in chemistry and biology, they're easy to replace huh?

If only there were a few. This is one case out of hundreds of unnecessary office visits every year. How do I know she wants off work, well every time she comes in she wants her baby admitted to the hospital and tries to call her work to tell them she needs days off to take care of her baby in the hospital. I'm not burned out, Im fed up with the idiotic system we have that produces lower quality and higher prices with less profit for the people giving the care, and it all starts with Medicare

Are you sure you even know anyone in HC? In every government run system in the world they have rationing of care. My god the white house just came out and said that women shouldnt get a mammogram before the age of 50 due to the costs. Apparently 1/1300 (thats how many are detected in women over 40) isn't enough to constitute the costs. Your argument about why people wont abuse the system is void of any logical or rational thought. People will abuse anything that they dont have to pay for. Last week a 22yr old mom brought her 4 month old baby in for the 30th time to our clinic.Every test that can possibly be run has been run many times, there is nothing wrong with this baby. She is putting her baby thru all these painful tests to get off work.She has had her baby admitted to the hospital 2x the ER 8 times no doc has found anything wrong with this child. She has never paid a dime, shes on Medicaid. Is this abuse of free HC?

There will always be a few nuts in the bunch but why should other people die because of those few? If you and your wife and her friends don't like the idea of saving lives in the future than by all means quit... There are plenty of people who will be graduating and looking for work. I myself would much rather have a doctor that is in it for more than just the money anyway.

I have talked to many of my wifes colleagues and have not found one doctor that agrees with the public option. They know it will lead to a gov takeover, which will lead to rationing.

Why do you think the price of Lasik surgery has fallen every year while the quality continually rises? You think they dont have expensive machines to do lasik? Of course they do, some of the most expensive in medicine, so how can it get cheaper every year? Could it be free market forces actually work and gov doesnt

The reason we wont be able to handle it is the same reason that every state that has tried to implement a state run program that insures everyone has failed miserably. People abuse free healthcare, they go to the doctor unnecessarily. Speaking for my wife and the 5 docs at her clinic, when this is enacted they are leaving medicine for good. They are all 20+ year vets in the biz and dont want to practice according to some gov bureaucrats decision as how best to treat each particular ailment

Do your siblings feel as though the solution is to start using insurance as it was intended, for catastrophic events, let the free market work? Is your brother a PCP? Does he or any siblings handle any of the billing that deals with Medicare or Medicaid?

I do agree with your understanding that the docs are the ones eating the costs of the uninsured deadbeats, which is more than I can say for the Democrats in congress who claim that the public eats these costs in higher charges by physicians

My wife is a physician and I was CFO of her pediatric clinic, so I think I have a fairly good understanding of the medical business. Besides Medicare and Medicaid setting the industry lows and being the most difficult to deal with when it comes to denying claims, you do realize they are completely BROKE, dont you?This is just another burden on already struggling small businesses and will most definitely lead to higher unemployment? After this healthcare bill goes thru and you start understanding that gov healthcare means gov control over every aspect of your life, including when it will end and how, then you might start to change your mind about the few that still believe in freedom in congress
